"This thing really doesn't look like something that should exist in this world."
Such a huge creature, with such terrifying regenerative abilities... was this thing for real? Is this even something that could appear in the Highschool of the Dead world?
Altair really wanted to complain. Was this thing's existence serious?
It was clearly a zombie apocalypse world; why did it suddenly turn into a monster world? If this thing got out, would the main characters even survive? Unless they dropped a nuclear bomb or something.
"Get out of here!"
Although he didn't know how to fight next, Altair's first decision was to get Saeko out of here because no matter how the battle unfolded, it was clear that this was beyond her capability.
Saeko obeyed Altair's command and started to distance herself immediately. In reality, from the moment Altair fired that shot, she understood that this battle was not something she could participate in. The explosion's power was too terrifying; if she hadn't been hiding in the Humvee, she would have been blown away. Fortunately, the Humvee had been sturdy enough not to flip over despite being slammed into the adjacent building by the shockwave.
In contrast, Altair relied on his Level 2 physical attributes and the powerful enhancements provided by Tom's Body to avoid being blown away.
He glanced at Saeko, who was quickly jumping out of the Humvee and retreating. After confirming she was indeed getting further away, he focused his attention on the monster before him.
This massive creature was now opening its huge mouth and staring at him, just like before... no eyes, just a gaping maw filled with many spiky tentacles that were writhing and reaching out.
"Let's see how you observe me."
He raised his weapon and fired a shot at the building beside him; the beam bullet shattered the glass, which immediately broke. He looked at the monster and saw that it showed no intention of turning towards the window. Instead, it directly lunged at him with its wide-open mouth.
"Oh no!"
Altair hurriedly ran away. He was on the rooftop of a building and quickly dashed off, leaping onto the roof of another building.
As the monster's massive mouth came crashing down, it completely smashed through the rooftop he had just been standing on.
"Not too fast. Although it's huge, its speed isn't particularly fast due to its size."
Watching the monster's enormous body slowly pull itself out from the rubble, Altair breathed a sigh of relief. Yes, it was a huge creature, but its speed was lacking; inertia affected its velocity... Newton's laws at work.
As long as it followed Newton's laws, everything would be manageable.
Anything governed by Newton's laws would generally adhere to the laws of conservation of mass and energy. Although it had just lost many parts of its body from that blast, and even though it was healing now, Altair could see that the amount of blood in the pool below had significantly decreased.
The missing parts were likely used to repair its body, which meant that this creature's body could indeed be dealt with.
If it had a core, eliminating it would be the best course of action.
While he was contemplating, the monster had pulled its head out, still holding a mass of building debris in its mouth. However, instead of spitting it out, it swallowed the fragments whole.
Altair watched as the layers of sharp teeth in its mouth began to rotate, tearing apart the concrete and rebar it had bitten off, unable to suppress the grinding of his teeth.
The sound of those teeth grinding the debris was painfully irritating.
In less than five seconds, the massive chunks of concrete in its mouth were completely shredded and swallowed, and then it opened its mouth again, staring at Altair.
"It seems you're not judging by sound... are you using sound waves? Heat detection? Or bioelectricity?"
Altair muttered to himself while hefting his rocket launcher.
"Forget how you see me. Open wide!"
"ROOOOOOOAR!!!"
The massive mouth opened again, and numerous tentacles erupted from between its teeth, wildly waving toward Altair.
"Eat this fuck!!"
Without hesitation, Altair pulled the trigger at the gaping maw. This time, he didn't use the disposable empty magic stone ammunition; instead, he fired shot after shot.
He aimed to reduce the monster's flesh and blood.
The magic power condensed into a one-meter-wide light beam shot out, and in just one second, all the magic energy was blasted into the monster's mouth. The part of its head, which was slightly thinner compared to its body, began to swell due to the influx of magical energy.
Then...
Boom!
The magic explosion occurred, and the monster's mouth exploded open. Its head ballooned like a balloon before bursting, and Altair watched as chunks of meat flew into the sky, quickly splattering everywhere.
"Damn!"
He stowed the rocket launcher and quickly rolled behind a wall, not wanting to face the falling chunks of flesh.
After a gust of foul wind, the ground behind Altair was coated in a thick layer of blood-red meat sauce that looked revolting. The air was filled with a nauseating stench, reminiscent of visiting a seafood market only to find the entire place had lost power and water, leaving dozens of tons of seafood to rot and stink. Altair felt sick and almost vomited.
"Ugh... This monster is so disgusting! Comparing it to the monsters in the dungeon makes them seem way too friendly. They just disappear and turn into magic stones when they die. You can just kill them without worrying about burying them... so much friendlier!"
While dry heaving, Altair grumbled, quickly turning to throw a high-explosive magic grenade at the monster, whose head had been blown apart and was now trying to heal.
With its original head blown to bits, it was rapidly regenerating, and Altair's goal was to stop that healing by continually inflicting damage to consume the material it needed to recover.
The high-explosive grenade landed on the monster's healing head, ensnared by the claws that were repairing its flesh, and it became entangled within the regrowing tissue.
Boom!
The grenade exploded again, turning the newly repaired flesh into fragments and sending pieces flying in every direction.
The consecutive massive explosive blasts obliterated the monster's head and neck, causing the creature to shrink by several meters and become slightly slimmer overall.
This method of attack was viable!
