"So now we're accepting the burnt faces," Waya says sarcastically. The best way to describe him is a goofball. Like that one kid who is always joking, never serious.
"With one."
"It would be great to work with another, and soon, there might be ten demons running around here," Waya says, rambling on.
"Waya shut up!"
I really feel disappointed letting Atohi keep his demon friend around. What would my ancestors think and all the great Alpha's before me? But with so few members of a pack, I am not in a position to lose one I believe the pack will grow once we start finding our true mates. Every werewolf has a mate. One true heartbeat we call it.You will always be there for them, no matter what they need. You are their personal protector. I am dreading the day I find my mate, I'm not ready for my life to be devoted to one other person always putting their needs first and being protective.
If Jane really is Atohi's mate he would fight against us and die trying to protect her. I know this in my soul.
The sun was sitting, casting a beautiful ray of orange over the sky. We as a pack decide to live together for bonding purposes. The only thing we have in a battle is each other, so we must know one another inside and out. We have a beautiful house that is surrounded by a forest. Instead of wooden walls, we have all-glass panels for a view of the outside. We all love nature, and I don't think it's because we are werewolves. I think it was our upbringing, and always having to deal with outside as kids. Our house is very quiet, there's not any other houses surrounding us for miles.
I sit outside under an oak tree. Enjoying the sounds of nature. A little owl hoots in a tree above me. I was mainly nocturnal like him. I like being up at night and rarely ever sleep. Being a werewolf, I have all this extra energy, it makes me feel immortal.
I watch Waya call after Chhaya. She storms off and marches away. She was obviously upset, but I have no idea why.
"Chhaya, I am sorry." I notice Chhaya was crying, and it hit my heart like a dozen arrows.
Can't even get a moment's rest around here. Not one!
Putting my head back, I let out a growl in annoyances.
I moved to Chhaya and I instantly want to calm her.
"What happened Waya?"
He takes a deep breath. "It was just a joke."
"What was," my eyes never left his face.
"I read her little poetry book and made fun of her."
Looking over at Chhaya, I know that she was deeply upset, her eyes filling with water.
I glare at Waya, unable to control my disappointment. I swear. Waya is so immature, sometimes I just want to beat some sense into him.
"All I said is her poetry makes me believe that she needs mental health help."
"Waya stay away from people's personal items," I eye him.
"Fine," Waya puts his hands in the air.
"Sorry Chhaya," Waya says.
She nods, never making eye contact with him.
"Can you even look at me, Chhaya, when I'm speaking to you?" Waya says, crossing his arms.
"Waya enough."
I move towards Chhaya, gently taking her hand in mine. She smiles and it makes me feel better. I think Waya can be such an idiot; I understand his perspective on eye contact .My family and I am sure his is really big on respect. I learned the proper way to address someone at the age of three, My mom already taught me how to be a perfect gentleman.
"Come sit and talk with me."
"Okay Alpha."
We slightly walk hand in hand to the fire pit and sit down on a log surrounding it. Chhaya is so beautiful, I don't know how somebody that possesses such beauty can be so unconfident. I could kiss her once and lose control.
"What's going on with you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Your slight and quiet don't like to talk to anyone."
"You just described being shy," she says, lifting up an eyebrow.
I chuckled to myself. "I guess I did."
" I saw you speaking with Mike in class."
She smiles, her face blushing. "He seems nice."
" If you like those arrogant jerks."
"Oh." She looks up at me and then back at the ground again.
"Chhaya, I know I told you to be more confident and speak to people more, but make sure you speak to people who deserve your words."
Her lips perk in the smile. "Is that an order Alpha?"
"No, advice coming from your friend."
She smiles.
"And besides I can't order you on who you wish to speak with."
"You can." She says.
I'm a little taken aback by her words. I'm not really sure if she's saying that because I'm her Alpha or not.
"I can?"
"I'll do anything you say."
"Anything." I wink at her.
She laughs, finally making eye contact with me.
"There's been a few murders in town, Alpha, a few witnesses claim they saw a disease person," Atohi tells me.
I nod. "We will need to go assess the area."
"It was at that Pizza Port."
"Now we're right in the public eye," I blew the air from my mouth.
Atohi nods. "Well it happened at night yesterday."
"When night falls, we'll gather up and go."
