Trying to keep a hold of these demons is scary. Controlling their existence and minimizing their presence is tiring, especially with a female in the pack. One of my main goals is always to make sure she is safe. Although I didn't want a girl in the pack, I couldn't throw her out because she was so sensitive and innocent.
We walk downtown, trying to appear as normal as possible, which is always fun. You still have your youngsters out.
Upon approaching the pizza joint. I see the outline of a body in chalk on the sidewalk. That always gave me the willies. Imagine a person taking their last breath here, being mauled by a demon. Their faces are burning with pure agony being eaten alive. I close my eyes and with pictures of blood squirting out, I can almost taste the metallic in my mouth.
"I don't think I will see any clues here."
"I'm not even picking up any scent," Waya says.
"Me neither," Chhaya remarks.
"What about your walking dead bride?" Atohi eyes Waya.
I laugh slightly, unable to hold it in.
"It's not like she hangs out with others."
"I'm sure the police got rid of all the clues."
"Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in or should I say werewolf." I hear the voices I want to hear least.
"Cedric, Colton, and Connor."
"There's no evidence we already checked."
I nod, glaring at them.
"Hey, beautiful," Colton eyes Chhaya looking her up and down.
She smiles with her face turning red.
Cedric, Colton, and Connor are kind of like werewolves. I mean, there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't get along. Just besides, they're not my type. Instead of morphing into a werewolf, they change into a bear—a big, fierce, mighty black bear.
"Why don't you hang with us," Colton says, directing his attention to Chhaya.
She smiles. " I don't know."
"Trust me, I will make you feel satisfied." He bites his lower lip.
I know he's only thinking with his dick.
Cedric and Connor laugh.
I put my arm around Chhaya pulling her into my side. "My baby is pretty."
She kissed me on the cheek, helping me maintain my lie. I was somewhat shocked by her actions supporting my deception.
"Maybe next time," Colton says before glaring at me.
I seriously just want to beat his ass. In front of Chhaya, what a confidence drop.
Chhaya and I walk away hand in hand. I like holding her hand. It feels natural and sweet almost like it belongs there. Almost like she was my heartbeat.
Cedric, Colton, and Connor, just bother me because there's so much ego wrapped up in their power. I take pride in being a werewolf and helping my community, ensuring the safety of my pack members, and they walk around arrogantly, as if they own the place or are the mayor.
We walk past an ice cream shop and, the sweetness dances around my nose already playing tricks on my taste buds.
"Ice cream?"
"Who would ever turn down ice cream," Chhaya says.
