"Your Highness, nothing is wrong. We have been asked to wait, the gates will be opened soon." My coachman hurriedly assured me, his keen eyes watching my every movement which made me chuckle.
"Calm your horse, Mr Ethan. Am not going to do anything!" I sounded playful, my eyes curving into a crescent as I extended my upper body out the carriage window to have a better view of the palace gates.
"You don't have to look at me like I'm going to vanish into thin air Mr Ethan." I pointed out lazily as I could feel his eyes watching my every move. I settled back into my seat.
'I mean, I don't blame him; I have set the records with my mischief over the years.' I mused.
Just then, my germ-engraved bangles lightened up, and I happily tapped on it. A hazy makeup of my mom appeared sitting right next to me.
"My baby! I see you are still in the carriage…are you bored? Do you want something to eat? I could get Mr Ethan to come over and sing to you…" my mom rambled on.
"I already promised not to do anything, you really don't have to keep checking on me every minute." I laughed, bringing my feet to rest on the carriage seat but the piercing gaze of my mom made me drop it slowly with a smile on my face.
"I would trust you for the three hundred and fifth time, behave yourself and remember you are no longer in the Fairy kingdom." Those were her last words before she disintegrated into sparkles.
"I really need to behave myself, I mean no one trusts me anymore." I nagged, all the while smoothening the pale blue dress my mom made me wear more like forced, blue wasn't my color but I had to since I was representing our clan.
My eyes darted to the far side of the carriage as I felt an unfamiliar presence. "What do you seek in my carriage stranger?" I called out loud my eyes focused on the slight dip on the carriage chair next to me, but suddenly the presence was gone.
"Strange," I murmured. There was the sound of a low hum from an animal I could not recognize and I hurriedly scooted to the side of the carriage, my head peeking out to see the huge palace gates being pulled open.
"Finally!" I could feel excitement bubble inside of me and my eyes shone with mischief. Time seemed to fly as I tuned myself out of reality to bypass all the boring introductions given by our hostess.
"Now we will get to show you around the palace. Places you are allowed and places you aren't." The strict bear clan woman who had been addressing the crowd paused to stare at every one of the heirs from the various kingdoms gathered for the yearly exam and I felt her gaze stop just a bit on me that I had to shrink further into the crowd.
"There, past the fountain is the king's chamber, you have no business existing there." The bear clan hostess pointed out, her voice stern.
Hearing this, my ears perked up. 'Finally the interesting part.' My eyes brightened and my palms rubbed in anticipation.
"You need to move, Princess." Someone reminded me from behind as he bumped into me but I couldn't care less.
"You all can file in the ballroom, find the maids with your clan's flag and you will be shown your room." Our hostess announced her back as straight as a pin and I wondered how she was able to maintain that posture for so long.
I made sure not to rush and act normally with a normal smile on my lips so as not to stick out like a sore thumb and get thrown out before I am able to go through with my plan, it's been fifteen long years. It could have been sooner but it seemed they always predicted my move no matter how creative I got to sneak into the palace.
I located the maid with our fairy flag quite easily and noticed some other heirs from my clan there but I paid them no attention, feeling their piercing glares at me, I wasn't exactly liked seeing as the number of people I haven't angered in the whole fairy kingdom could fill in a small closet.
"How do you like the room, Princess Lyra?" I heard the Maid assigned to me ask.
"It's small compared to my room in the Fairy clan, also it's not as bright and the air doesn't…" I had to clam my mouth shut as I noticed the be-whirled look on the maid's face like I just committed murder.
"I should excuse you, to get rested up." I watched as she bowed and literally ran out of the room but remembered to close the door softly.
"Oh well, I think I outdid myself this time. I behaved myself!" I screamed out ignoring the maid's reaction and propelled myself onto the large canopy bed but winced in pain as my body connected to the slightly hard bed.
"This is going to be one hell of a month, maybe not," I smirked as I remembered I had some scores to settle tonight.
"That should do it," I murmured as my red flowing hair slowly turned black. The person in the mirror looked a little different from me and I was fine with that just enough difference to not have people looking my way.
"Time to meet an old friend or enemy." I watched my reflection smirk back at me. I headed out of my room remembering to make sure the coast was clear.
I didn't have to do much concealing as the hallways were empty except for the touches lighting the way and a few patrolling guards.
I felt excitement and a little bit of anger sweep through me as I had my back to the fountain shown to us earlier that day, my eyes set on the King's huge chamber doors. "This has been long overdue." my eyes sharpened.
I nimbly blended into the shadow and approached the looming dark brown door in the distance.
I paused slightly as I remembered one important detail, it was rumored that the king's chamber door could not be opened unless he commanded it to. "So how do I get in? I can't just hang around and wait for a servant to walk up."
Seems the deities are with me, I chuckled in amusement as I saw a palace servant approach the door.
Immediately he passed where I stood. I activated a second conceal talisman and followed closely behind, remembering to hold my breath lest I blow my cover.
The servant knocks once on the door and after a while, it swings open. As he walked in, I followed closely. 'That was easy,'' I thought.
I patiently remained in my position till the servant left, the door slamming after him, I was free to explore. "Now let's find that mean King of ours."
