I remained in my position, my gaze roaming around and getting familiar with my environment. I had to be on my toes because there were actually rumors of intruders never making it back alive once entering the king's chamber and since he was a vampire the stories always had gore to them.
Seeing as everything seemed normal, there were no uneven walls or open-mouthed stature I confirmed the cost to be clear.
I was just about to take a step when I spotted a very tall handsome man walking out of the corner. My eyes snapped shut in embarrassment, heat flooding my cheeks.
I thought he was unclothed but upon taking another peak he just didn't have his upper body covered, the parts that needed to be covered were covered thankfully. It was the King alright.. looking as unsightly as I remember. 'But why does he have to walk around without clothes in his chambers!' I cried internally as my eyes took in the image of his muscular side profile and wet dripping midnight black hair.
"Are you going to reveal yourself or keep hiding?" The King's authoritative voice boomed with power and I felt the hairs on my skin stand. 'I have been found out.'
I didn't expect to be found out so soon but it doesn't matter. I was just about to step out of the shadow and make my presence officially known when I spotted a shadowy being come into view.
I stilled in my tracks, concealing myself back behind the pillar. 'So it wasn't me, but what kind of creature is that?' I was curious, I never heard of a clan that controlled shadows before. I ran through my memory, everything I have gathered from the Fairy library but I can be positive there was no mention of such a being.
The shadowy being seemed to be saying something as the King nodded once in a while but no matter how hard I strained my ears I couldn't pick up a thing. It seemed there was some barrier of some sort set up.
Just then I felt the effect of my talisman wear off, making a poof sound and I cursed under my breadth. I looked up to notice the shadowy being slowly snapping its hollow-like face at me before it faded and the king took his sweet time turning around to face the intruder, but I wasn't scared.
"How did you get in?" The King questioned me, his face stoic and I felt the intense urge to spill the truth but I forced it down. He was using compel.
"Why should I answer your question?" I asked instead, my face stoic mirroring his, I had my arms on my hips just like Mom used to do when lecturing me to come off as intimidating to the King.
I noticed he raised his eyebrows a bit, probably in shock. Am sure no one has ever got the balls to question him, but I do not fear him.
"You do realize I could have your head chopped off for intruding." He stated firmly, his words reaching me clearly despite the distance between us.
"What was that shadowy figure? What clan is it from? I don't think I have heard of it before" I bombarded him with questions as I walked nonchalantly towards him, my hands tapping on my chin in thought.
I could feel his heavy piercing gaze analyzing me but I stood my ground.
"I would admit I applaud your courage, but a dog should know when to lay on its belly." He chose to ignore my question and turned his back to me.
"Your statement is true! The only fault in it is I am not a dog. Am Fairy!" I corrected with a large smile on my face. He didn't notice since he had his back to me.
"I have gotten bored with you now. Leave." The king ordered firmly. I felt the wind crease my skin as though trying to follow the king's order but I stomped my foot dispelling it.
"No," I replied stubbornly, my eyes glaring at his turned back like I could pierce a hole through him.
"No?" he questioned and I could feel his voice shift back to that dark scary voice of his the whole kingdom feared. I felt my body take a step back in fear but I willed it to stay put.
"Am not sure you remember me, but I remember you. Thirteen years ago you embarrassed me in front of everyone!" I started my voice laced with venom as I recalled the embarrassing event that occurred, I was still little then all coming-of-age heirs were taken to meet the King and I was naturally among them.
He had ordered me to get him a dragon ball fruit and naive me had obeyed unaware of the stinging nettle that guarded every dragon ball fruit. I was stung beyond recognition and face-planted in the mud below while he watched together with the rest. To this day I was still made fun of back at home.
"Hmmm." That was the only response I got as he walked off around a corner leaving me standing there furious alone.
"I am not done talking!" I bellowed as I stomped after him.
"Little girl, leave while you still have your head attached," He warned, sounding bored but his words just got me even more enraged.
"I am no little girl!" I bit out, my hands reached behind my hair, a yellow talisman in hand, I activated it and sent it his way.
A smirk came to settle on my lips as I noticed he didn't make a move to dodge it and it landed right in the middle of his bare chest.
He looked down at where my spell connected with him in a pink poof and raised his eyebrows at me since nothing seemed to happen but I just kept smiling.
"Hey, it's the shadowy thingy again!" I pointed out looking surprised and the King turned to look in the direction I pointed but upon noticing nothing he turned back to look where I stood but I was gone only my wicked laughter vibrated off the walls.
"Pink hair looks marvelous on you Mr King!" I called out as my voice faded.
The king didn't seem to understand my words as he only willed the doors to close but he stilled in his tracks as he passed the floor-length mirror in the room, the bright pink easily noticeable as it was the only thing of color in his chamber.
He snapped his fingers hoping to despair the spell as little tricks like that wouldn't work on him but he was surprised for the first time in decades as nothing happened, nothing changed. His hair remained glistering pink in the mirror.
He stood rooted to the spot, his hand still hanging in the air as his lips curved into a dangerous smirk. 'At least she was entertainment.' he mused.
