"Ye Xin! Where are you running off to now?!" A chubby guy yelled as he looked at the young boy running towards the wilderness with hurried steps.
The chubby guy was out of breath and his hands were on his knees. There was annoyance on his face.
"A shooting star just fell in the forest, I am just gonna take a look at it, Gai Luo!" Ye Xin yelled but didn't turn around to look at the displeased expression of the chubby guy.
When Gai Luo saw that Ye Xin has disappeared into the wilderness, he snorted and rolled his eyes back.
"Don't come crying when you get hurt by a wild beast!" He snorted again and turned around to leave towards the village.
Ye Xin moved through the woods his eyes shining with light, the small insects and animals in the jungle looked at him with curious eyes but none followed as they were wary of him.
Ye Xin was a young boy, about the age of eighteen, his stature was thin, his skin pale white and he had jet-black hair.
Although he looked haggard, there was a strange sense of hope on his face. His eyes were filled with determination.
Soon he could see a crater far from him, it was still about a kilometer away, however, the surrounding trees were all flattened by the impact so it was easy to see even in this dense wilderness.
With his steps slowing down every passing moment he soon reached the edge of the crater, and when he saw the size of it, his mouth stayed open for a few seconds.
"Big! It's so Big!" He exclaimed. For as far as his eyes could reach he could only see destruction, the crater was about ten kilometers in diameter and was extremely deep.
Ye Xin looked at the bottom of the crater with his eyes narrowed and then a frown appeared on his face.
"This small thing caused such a big explosion?" He was surprised.
He jumped down the edge and started sliding towards the middle of the crater to get a closer look, from afar he could only see a faint round silhouette that looked like a rock.
After about an hour of descending, he finally reached the middle of the crater and laid his eyes on the object that caused this destruction.
"It's not a star." He murmured with a confused look on his face. He had heard about falling stars from the village teacher and he knew that these stars were nothing but pieces of rock shooting down from the sky.
However, what appeared in front of him was not a rock.
"Is it made up of glass?" Ye Xin was confused. In front of him was a transparent ball that was about ten meters tall and in the middle of the ball he could see a red-colored squid floating, its eyes were closed and there was a strange blue aura around the squid.
"It can't be a squid! Squid only has eight arms." Ye Xin said and gulped his saliva, the three-meter-long organism looked like a squid but instead of eight arms, this thing had more than a hundred.
"All of this is so strange." Ye Xin slowly moved his hand toward the transparent ball, he was extremely cautious and scared but his curiosity got the best of him and he finally touched the ball.
"This... It's not glass..." He whispered. He knew what glass felt like, he knew the texture. And he was sure with just a single touch that the material he was touching was simply not glass.
"That must be the reason why it survived the fall!" He was surprised. To survive such a big fall, Ye Xin was sure that even a high-grade treasure would break, but this material remained intact, without even a single scratch.
"This thing should sell for a huge price." A big smile appeared on his face. However soon it disappeared because he knew that if he told anyone else about this thing then they would silence him to keep all the treasure and he couldn't bring this thing out on his own.
With a defeated sigh he looked at the squid again, it was silently floating and its hundreds of tentacles hanging from its body.
Bang!
"Ahh..!!" Ye Xin suddenly screamed and jumped backward, his heart beating out of his chest. His eyes widened and he looked at the squid with a terrified expression on his face.
"That... That arm just moved!" He could see that one of the arms of the squid was now moving inside the ball as if trying to find an opening and when it couldn't it started banging its arm on the ball.
"I have to run!" Ye Xin decided and turned around he was sure that if this strange squid got out of the ball then it would definitely eat him.
With hasty steps, he started climbing the crater again.
And from behind him, he started hearing loud bangs. He turned his head around and saw that now more than ten of its arms were banging against the internal wall of the ball.
And he could even see cracks forming on it.
"Shit... Shit! Shit!" Ye Xin gritted his teeth and increased his climbing speed and soon found out that it was harder to climb than descending.
"I should have listened to Fatty Luo and not come here! I am so stupid!" Ye Xin started cursing himself and once more looked back.
Terror gripped his heart as he could see that now all the hundred arms were thrashing against the transparent wall. And more and more cracks were appearing on the glass-like material.
"At this rate, the thing will get out before I even climb even halfway up!" Sweat dripped down his forehead and getting his teeth he pushed his body to the max and started climbing the crater with as much speed as he could muster.
He could still hear the loud banging noise behind him but he stopped looking back and focused completely on climbing, however after about fifteen minutes the sounds stopped and he also stopped in his tracks.
His heart was colliding against his chest and his hands and feet felt numb. Gulping his saliva he slowly turned around and then his heart skipped a beat at the scene.
"Wh... Where did it go?!" In front of him were now pieces of that transparent ball and the squid inside it was nowhere to be seen, it was as if it disappeared in thin air.
"Did it fly away?" He thought and looked all around the area, however he could not see the sign of that squid.
"Looks like it didn't even consider me as its prey." Ye Xin let out a relaxed sigh and his body slumped down on the ground.
Endorphins rushed through his body, making him feverish, his eyes stayed glued to the broken pieces of the glass-like material and his mind was running with different thoughts.
He felt like he had escaped narrow death.
"I will never come back here." He murmured and after a few seconds of breathing, he stood up and turned around to leave.
He didn't even take the glass-like material, because he knew that with his strength trying to sell that thing without dying was akin to impossible.
With a deep breath, he turned around to climb out of this place.
However just as he turned around his heart shook and his eyes widened, his breath stopped and his stomach scrunched.
"Agh!"
He jumped back and started rolling down in the crater.
In front of him suddenly came the squid from before, it was floating just behind him and when Ye Xin suddenly saw it, his heart almost leaped out of his chest and he jumped back in terror.
Soon he reached the middle of the crater and fell into the glass-like material, he looked up and despair appeared on his face. The squid was still in front of him floating silently its big round eyes looking at him emotionlessly.
"Am I gonna die like this!" Ye Xin murmured with a hopeless expression as he scurried back on his ass. He was trying to maintain a safe distance from the squid.
However, his efforts were useless because no matter how much he slid back the squid always maintained the same distance from him.
Ye Xin soon gave up and knew that he would not be able to escape this squid, he then started looking around for any sharp objects and soon found one of the pieces of glass-like material on the ground.
This piece has broken in a shape similar to a dagger.
"Ahhh!" Ye Xin yelled as determination flashed through his eyes and jumped towards the piece of glass. However, before he could reach that piece the squid suddenly shrank and quickly entered his mouth.
"Agh! Ahh!! Ugh.!"
Ye Xin suddenly started choking while holding his throat as the squid started making its way through his body.
"Cough! Cough!"
Ye Xin tried to vomit it out however without success.
After about fifteen minutes he stopped coughing. His hands were shaking and there were tears in his eyes.
"That... That thing entered my body!"
