The next day both Gai Luo and Ye Xin stood outside the western gate of the village, since the eastern gate was now under the control of Spirit Masters from the capital, the only hunting spot left was the Western Gate.
"Dad has said that today we should capture at least ten striped boars each in a single day." Gai Luo said with an apprehensive look on his face.
"I think we can do it." Ye Xin said with a nonchalant expression on his face. Although the task sounded big, he had previously captured three striped boars in one hour, so capturing ten of them in a day should be easy for him.
"What do you mean we can do it? Even with the help of our beasts, it should be impossible to even find ten Striped Boars let alone capture them!" Gai Luo said in a slightly annoyed tone.
"We won't know until we try." Ye Xin said and stepped towards the wilderness. "Let's go Gai Luo." He said.
Gai Luo saw Ye Xin moving and quickly chased. "You, wait for me!" He said and moved with Ye Xin.
"I know a place where we can find some Striped Boars." Ye Xin said with a serious expression, after entering the wilderness, he was extremely cautious of his surroundings.
He knew that danger could come from anywhere so he had to be in his peak senses.
Gai Luo on the other hand wanted to speak his mind, but when he saw Ye Xin's serious expression he also became vigilant. He also started looking around cautiously at his surroundings.
Soon enough they reached in front of the swamp where Ye Xin previously caught the striped boars.
"Is this the place?" Gai Luo asked with his brows raised. Since Gai Luo's father was the man of the family, Gai Luo rarely came out to hunt.
Not like Ye Xin who had to hunt for himself to survive, Gai Luo has very little knowledge about the surrounding wilderness.
It could be said that this was the first time Gai Lou had come so deep into the wilderness without the supervision of his father.
"Yes, but we have to be careful, Striped Boars are extremely sensitive to moments and noises, we have to make sure to not startle them or they will run away." Ye Xin said in a serious tone.
"Yeah, I know that much, my dad told me a lot about them last night." Gai Lou nodded. "But, how the hell are we supposed to move in this godforsaken swamp without making a commotion?"
Ye Xin took in a deep breath and turned his head to look at Gai Luo. "It's easy actually." he said and pointed at the nearby tree.
Gai Luo looked at the tree and then looked at Ye Xin with a confused expression. "What? Do we have to camouflage as a tree? I didn't even bring the costume." Gai Luo said.
Ye Xin listened to him and a dumb expression appeared on his face. 'Maybe Uncle Tao was right, I will have to take care of him.'
"No, you dumb head! We have to climb the tree and survey from above, if we are up there then the striped boars won't be able to sense us from that far away." Ye Xin said with a disappointed tone.
Gai Luo heard his words and then looked at the tree again, when he saw the height of the tree he gulped his saliva. It was at least a hundred meters tall. Just climbing it would be a challenge for him.
"And how do you think we will be able to climb that high?!" Gai Luo looked at Ye Xin with a dumbfounded expression.
Ye Xin narrowed his eyes and looked at Gai Luo for a few seconds. "Didn't you get some power when you contracted the beast?" He asked.
Gai Luo heard his words and a frown appeared on his face. "Power? What kind of power? I don't feel anything different with my body."
"Are you sure?" Ye Xin took in a deep breath and jumped up the branch of a tree, in just a single jump he grabbed hold of a branch about fifteen meters above.
He then looked at Gai Luo, standing below with an awe-filled face. "Come, try to jump on this branch." He said.
Gai Luo looked at Ye Xin with a surprised expression on his face, however didn't say anything, he took in a deep breath and nodded. "Ok, I will try." He said.
Gai Luo bowed his back a bit and contracting the muscles in his legs he leaned forward to jump up.
Bow!
Gai Luo's body flew up and a swirl of sand below his feet threw him up.
"Ahhh....!!!"
Gai Luo yelled as his body flew up in the air, in just seconds he was already thirteen meters above the ground.
His eyes turned wide as he looked down at the height he was at.
"Ahhhhhaaa!!! Ye Xin save me!" He yelled again as his body started to descend. With each passing moment, he was falling faster and faster.
Ye Xin's eyes widened when he saw Gai Luo flying so high and then falling. He never thought that Gai Luo would fly so high in the air.
Quickly jumping back from the tree, Ye Xin appeared below Gai Luo to catch him. However before he could do so, a gale of sand moved up from the ground and gently wrapped itself around Gai Luo, greatly slowing the fall and he landed softly on the ground.
Standing up he looked at dumbfounded Ye Xin with perspiration all over his body.
"Ye Xin..." He was huffing as he spoke. "This is scary!" Gai Luo said.
Ye Xin on the other hand was still dumbfounded and only after Gai Luo's words did he break out of his stupor and looked at him.
"You... You are so powerful." Ye Xin said.
Gai Luo gulped his saliva and after a few deep breaths, he calmed down and nodded. "I think it's different from what you just did." Gai Luo said as an enlightened expression appeared on his face.
Ye Xin frowned at his words. "What do you mean?" He asked.
"You jumped with pure strength, on the other hand, I flew so high because of the sand, I don't think I am more powerful than before, but I can control sand, although not proficiently." Gai Luo explained.
"I think you unlocked a beast power." Ye Xin said and a shocked expression appeared on his face.
"I remember father talking something about it, he was telling how rare it was and how greatly it could help one progress in their journeys." Gai Luo said and then a big smile appeared on his face. "Haha... I told you Ye Xin that I am amazing." He laughed proudly.
Ye Xin saw his proud face and his brows twitched a bit. "You... It seems like luck shines on dumb people the most," he said in a condescending tone.
"You! Who are you calling dumb?!" Gai Luo looked at Ye Xin with his eyes narrowed.
"You." Ye Xin said in a nonchalant tone.
Gai Luo heard his words and stayed silent for a bit and then he laughed out loudly, "Ye Xin, you are just jealous of my abilities. But don't worry I will treat you well even if I become someone big in the future, after all, I am someone who is always connected to his roots." Gai Luo laughed again.
Ye Xin sighed and then looked at the tree again, "We will talk about it later, let's first climb this tree." Ye Xin said and jumped up the tree. "Come on." he looked down at Gai Luo.
Gai Luo gulped his saliva and meekly nodded. Crossing his fingers he jumped again and although he was supported by the sand he wasn't able to catch on the branch.
Ye Xin narrowed his eyes and jumped back down on the ground. "I think you need some practice controlling your sand." Ye Xin looked at the sun and saw that it was still on the horizon, rising bit by bit. "We still have time, let's practice a bit before we try catching the boars."
Gai Luo looked at Ye Xin and nodded with a disappointed expression on his face. "What should we do first?" Gai Lou asked.
Ye Xin turned silent at his words, he didn't know how to approach this practice. After thinking for a few minutes he nodded.
"Ok, first summon your Sand Eater. Let's test if your control increases when Xiao Sha is present." Ye Xin said.
Gai Luo listened to him and nodded. "Let's try it." He said and pointed his hand at an empty patch of land. "Xiao Sha, come out." He called and the sand eater appeared out of thin air it looked at Gai Luo and quickly came to him, rubbing its giant head against his body.
"Try to jump again." Ye Xin said.
Gai Luo nodded and looked at his Sand Eater, "Xiao Sha, help me." he asked.
The Sand Eater seemingly understanding his words, nodded.
