Chereads / Squid's Harem / Chapter 7 - Sand Eater

Chapter 7 - Sand Eater

One after another more and more people got to the front and bought their spots and after about half an hour it was the turn of the giant man with bulging muscles.

"Look at him... He looks so enormous and intimidating."

"Do you know where this guy is from?"

"No. He is a mystery."

Murmurs started echoing in the crowd, and from them, Ye Xin interpreted that the origins and the name of the muscular guy were unknown.

Not even people from the capital knew about him.

Ye Xin looked at the guy with a curious look, for some reason he felt that the man was not so simple. He had a deep feeling that the guy was just as dangerous as Mao Ruolan if not more.

And he didn't have to wait long to know why he was feeling so intimidated by the guy. Just like Mao Ruolan he also took out their hundered gold coins.

"Look! He is also going for the diamond spot, it looks like he is also from some big family."

"But why has no one heard about him, a figure like him should be well known in the kingdom, at least someone must have known him in all these people."

People started speculating about the guy and soon the old man behind the desk called out his name.

"Wan Peng, follow the guard to the back." The old man said lazily, however, there was a glimmer in his eyes as he spoke. It was clear that the old man was also interested in the muscular guy.

Wan Peng nodded and moved to the back of the base camp with the guard.

"Wan... Wan! He is from the Wan Family of the capital!" Someone in the crowd exclaimed.

Zuisian Kingdom's capital was ruled by two main powers, the first being the Jin Family and the second one being the Wan Family.

The king is from the Jin Family and ruled the entire kingdom. However Wan Family was not inferior to the Jin Family, they controlled many businesses and the army general of the Zuisian Kingdom was also from the Wan family.

Both Jin and Wan's family got along well on the surface and there had never been any sort of scuffle between them.

That is the reason why as time passed, many people forgot that the capital had one more hegemon and it was Wan Family.

They were underdogs of the kingdom.

That could be the reason why so few people knew about Wan Peng.

"Hmm... So his background is even more terrifying than Mao Roulan." Ye Xin thought and took in a deep breath.

Although he was from a small village he wanted to step up in life and achieve a high position in society, he wondered if he ever would be able to match up to monsters like Mao Ruolan and Wan Peng, or he might be left behind in the dust.

Everyone in the crowd waited for Wan Peng to come back, they wanted to know what kind of beast he would get. Even the old man behind the desk was waiting, however, even after waiting for fifteen minutes, no one came back.

The guard came back and whispered something in the old man's ears after which the old man shook his head as if disappointed and looked at the next aspirant.

When everyone saw that the old man was not waiting for Wan Peng they became curious.

"What happened to him?"

"Was he eaten by the beast?"

More and more people started whispering, however, no one was sure what happened to him.

"Looks like he went out of the village from the other way." Finally, someone in the crowd said and Ye Xin agreed with his statement.

That was the most probable cause of Wan Peng not returning, he might have left the village from a different path.

After this line, many people sighed, as they all wanted to see what kind of beast he would get.

However, their disappointment only lasted for a few minutes as another shocking scene appeared in front of them.

Standing in front of the desk was a thin guy, his body was covered by a black cloak and even his face had a mask.

The mask was completely white with two hollow eyesockets that revealed dark eyes.

And in the thin guy's hand were three hundred gold coins.

"He is Kang Huang from Kang Clan!"

When people heard about the guy, they gasped in a cold breath, some even stepped back in fear.

Ye Xin had heard about the Kang Clan, they were a clan full of assassins and they operated from the capital.

Although the Kang Clan was powerful, they never interfered with capital's business or power struggle.

They act as swords for hire and they would side with the party that pays them the most.

Ruthless and Dangerous are the words that are used the most whenever someone describes Kang Clan. They were a bunch of stone-cold killers.

Even Jin and Wan family stayed cautious of them.

Soon Kang Huang followed the guard and went to the back of the basecamp and soon he came back.

On his shoulder was a black colored cat, with deep red eyes. The cat gave an eerie feeling to everyone who looked at it. It was as if it was about to snatch their souls.

"Death's Kiss! It's a Death's Kiss! A spirit Beast!" Clamour erupted in the group and everyone started talking about the cat on Kang Huang.

Ye Xin heard their words and was a bit shocked, because according to these people, the seemingly harmless cat was even more terrifying than the Four Winged Pegasus, that Mao Ruolan got.

Gulping his saliva Ye Xin looked at the cat again, this time with more reverence than before.

After some time Kang Huang left the grounds and although he left a deep impact on everyone present, as time passed everyone got back to their senses and started focusing on the line.

After about three hours when the sun was about to set, it was finally Gai Luo's turn.

Ye Xin smiled and focused on him, out of all the people he cared about Gai Luo the most.

'He should have three coins, so he will buy the copper spot.' Ye Xin thought and prayed that his friend would get a good beast.

Ye Xin was fond of Gai Luo, after all, Gai Luo and his family were the ones who supported him after the death of his mother. He was grateful to them and wished the best for them.

Soon Gai Luo pulled out a pouch from his back and placed the coins on the table. When Ye Xin looked at the coins he was a bit surprised, however, he soon smiled.

'So Uncle Gai went all in.' Ye Xin thought, he could see ten gold coins on the table which meant that Gai Luo would be buying the Silver Spot.

Although the silver spot was not as great as compared to the diamond one, for ordinary villagers like them, it was a huge amount, only some privileged among them could afford such huge money.

Gai Luo's father was a hunter and for him, this amount of money was equal to his whole life savings.

'It's good that I didn't take money from them, or Gai Luo would have been forced to buy a Copper Spot.' Ye Xin was sure that just the ten gold coins were already the limit for the Gai Family.

If he had taken three coins from them, then Gai Luo would not have been able to buy a silver spot.

'I hope he gets a good beast.' Ye Xin took in a deep breath and looked back at Gai Luo, by this time Gai Luo was already leaving with the guard towards the back of the base camp.

And after waiting for ten minutes he came back again with a big smile on his face. Besides Gai Luo a giant creature was walking with slow steps.

The beast was at least six meters tall and its whole body was seemingly made out of rocks. It looked like a Rhinosorus with a big horn on its head.

The beast was yellowish and looked extremely intimidating.

"Look, that's a Sand Eater! It's a pretty powerful beast, that guy is so lucky!" Someone in the crowd commented.

"Yes, I have heard about them, although these Sand Eaters look big and bulky, they are surprisingly agile and they also possess sand affinity, which is a unique one. I think this is one of the best beasts one could get from the silver spot."

"This guy is lucky, his future is promising."

People started chattering about Gai Luo in the crowd.

Even the lazy old man behind the desk nodded at Gai Luo in approvement.

Ye Xin saw all this and his smile widened even more. He proudly looked at Gai Luo and walked towards him.

"Hehe... I am jealous." He said while rubbing the ridge of his nose.

Gai Luo on the other hand quickly hugged him. "I did it... I did it, Ye Xin, I didn't waste my father's hard-earned money."

Ye Xin could feel Gai Luo quivering.

Ye Xin took in a deep breath and patted on his back, "I am sure Uncle Gai would be proud." He said.

He knew how important this was for Gai Luo, Uncle Gai had taken a huge risk by giving him all the money so it was natural for him to be this emotional.

If he failed then ane got a bad beast Ye Xin could only imagine the regret Gai Luo would have lived with.

"Let's go back, tonight we will celebrate!" Ye Xin said and moved away from Gai Luo. While moving back he could see tears in Gai Luo's eyes.
