"That's amazing news." Ye Xin said with a smile on his face, there was excitement in his eyes.
He always wanted to join a beast-taming sect, as if he got selected by a big sect then his life would change for good.
He might even become a celebrity in the village if he got selected by a top sect.
He knew that Miss Xia was also a sect disciple that's why no one dared to mess with her in the village, she was here in this village for a sect mission and would leave for the sect once she healed enough patients.
However, the sect examinations were extremely hard, only three percent of beast tamers were selected every year and the percentage for the top sects was even less.
'I wonder if this squid is any good, I have to test its powers out.' Ye Xin thought and sighed. If his squid turned out to be weak then forget about sects he wouldn't even be able to get a good job in the world.
This world was dominated by beast tamers and without good enough talent in taming, one could only crawl in the bottom of the barrel.
"Get ready, I will be going to purchase the spot of the taming ceremony this evening, you have to come with me." Gai Luo said with a big smile on his face. Just by the glow on his face, Ye Xin could tell that Gai Luo was extremely excited and hopeful about the ceremony.
"Sure." Ye Xin nodded with a small smile.
"Ok, then." Gai Luo said his goodbyes and left for his house.
After he was gone Ye Xin sighed and ate his food and soon enough he was heading for the opposite of the village.
It was already noon time and as he was moving through the village he spotted many caravans and different carriages pulled by big beasts.
"They are already here." Ye Xin thought as he looked at the people. These were all the young guys that were here for the Taming Ceremony and The sect examinations.
And there were also many luxurious carriages, these carriages were from the big families of the capital.
Ye Xin didn't pay them much notice as he had something else on his mind. After giving them a glance he moved again and soon reached the western gate of the village.
He exited the gate and after traveling for fifteen more minutes he reached in front of the wilderness.
This place was opposite of the wilderness he previously went to. "There shouldn't be any Spirit Masters here." He thought and with a nod headed towards the wilderness.
He also spotted many hunters roaming around the area, since at the eastern gate many of the capital officers had gathered, and most of the hunters were now at the western gate trying to make a living.
Seeing them, Ye Xin sighed in relief, since hunters were here the possibility of Spirit Masters in this area was low.
Taking a deep breath Ye Xin steadied his feet and then started moving in the wilderness.
Only after half an hour did he come to a place with no hunters or other people, after checking the area carefully and making sure that no one was here he finally called the squid out.
Red light flashed and the squid was soon there, it floated in the air and looked at Ye Xin with its big eyes.
Its arms were swaying in the wind gently.
Ye Xin gulped his saliva and slowly moved his hand toward the squid to touch it.
The squid didn't resist and let Ye Xin touch it.
Just as Ye Xin placed his hand on the squid's body a frown appeared on his face. His eyes flashed with surprise.
'This... I could feel such a deep connection with it.' Ye Xin thought and took in a deep breath.
He knew that controlling a beast was hard, especially a wild one, it consumed a lot of mental energy.
However he could feel a unique connection with the squid, it's as if he didn't need to strain a single strand of mental energy to give orders to the squid.
And the control was also a lot more efficient.
'This squid, it's so calm.' Ye Xin moved his hand back and nodded.
"Since you are bound to me now, it's only natural that I give you a name." Ye Xin nodded.
The squid swirled at its place in excitement as if it understood what Ye Xin was saying.
When Ye Xin saw that the squid was swirling in happiness he also smiled and nodded. After that, he patted the squid on the head to calm it down.
'You are not too bad.' He said with a smile on his face.
The squid on the other hand moved its head under Ye Xin's hand, it was clear that it loved pats.
"From now on you will be called Hong Hai." Ye Xin said and nodded, he was proud of his naming skills.
Since the squid was a sea creature and was red, Hong Hai was a naturally good name for it.
The squid heard his words and swirled even more in the air, it was extremely happy with its name.
Seeing Hong Hai excited, even Ye Xin nodded with a big smile on his face.
"Hong Hai, time to show what you can do?" Suddenly a serious expression appeared on Ye Xin's face. He has come here to know Hong Hai's capabilities and how much he could rely on him.
Hong Hai stopped swirling around and looked at Ye Xin seriously.
"Ok then, attack that tree, let's see your power." Ye Xin said and pointed at a thick tree in the distance.
This tree was called the Black Iron tree and its trunk was extremely hard. Even Beast Masters would find it hard to break this tree.
For a stage one Apprentice Master like him, it would be close to impossible to break the tree.
Hong Hai's eyes narrowed as he looked at the tree bark in the distance and one of its arms slowly got raised in front of him.
Whip!
Boom!
His arm suddenly shot forward like an arrow from a bow and smashed into the tree trunk blowing many splinters of wood and smoke.
After the dust settled Ye Xin finally managed to see the aftermath of Hong Hai's attack.
And when he saw the result his eyes narrowed in surprise. "This..." Ye Xin moved towards the tree and on the point of impact he could see a big hole in the tree trunk, he could easily fit his head inside the hole if he wanted.
"Nice." Ye Xin nodded and looked at Hong Hai with a smile on his face.
Hong Hai swirled in the air again and then rubbed his head against Ye Xin's hand.
Ye Xin smiled and patted its head.
"Let's go and hunt." A new light shone in Ye Xin's eyes, he knew that with Hong Hai's strength and his knowledge, they would be able to catch good prey.
Hong Hai nodded and started following Ye Xin, and soon enough they were in front of a small swamp.
"This is the place for striped boars. Now that I have Hong Hai it would be easy for me to catch one." Ye Xin took in a deep breath and nodded.
The swamp was the hideout of the Striped Boars, Ye Xin once found this location by accident. Although this was not a secret location, not many people came here to hunt because of the swamp area.
The area was filled with many quicksand holes and one had to be extremely careful if they wanted to hunt here.
And Striped Boars were not worth all the hard work.
Only small hunters like Ye Xin came to this place, as there was no competition and Striped Boars were easy prey.
Ye Xin looked at the nearby tree and jumped towards it, like a monkey he climbed the tree in a few seconds and when he was on top of the tree he looked down with a sharp gaze.
"I am a lot more agile than before. It must be due to Hong Hai." He turned his head and looked at Hong Hai behind him.
Since he had got Hong Hai he felt that he had gotten a lot stronger than before.
Hong Hai was right behind him, floating silently in the air, he was like a ghost, floating without making any noise as if he was phasing through the air.
Soon enough they located one of the striped boars, it was currently eating a small bird on the corner of a tree root.
However its ears were standing straight, and it was clear that the boar was still aware of the surroundings. Even just a small noise would make it alert and it would run away.
Ye Xin was sitting silently on the tree as he looked at the boar, he then turned around and nodded at Hong Hai.
As if understanding his thoughts Hong Hai's eyes focused on the boar and then silently it moved towards the boar, just when it was a few feet away from it, four of its hundreds of arms flew forwards at a rapid pace and before the boar could even twitch it was tightly grabbed by the arms and lifted in air.
The boar struggled in Hong Hai's arms but they were a lot stronger than it, so no matter how much the boar tried it couldn't set itself free and the more it struggled the tighter the grip got around its body.
"Kill it." Ye Xin ordered and just as he said so Hong Hai twisted the boar's head with his tentacles.
