Chapter 15 - Chapter 15. To The Death

When Athan heard the consecutive screams, he lost it. He could not stand there and he did not hesitate anymore as he started running towards the direction of the screams. He was screaming at himself not to go but something told him that he could not bear the consequences of him not taking action.

He grit his teeth as he pushed himself to his limit. Something he never thought that he would never do in his life. Running to save someone. But at the moment, he did not care at all. He realized that running on the ground was slowing him down as he leapt to one building.

He could hear the desperate screams from them all and soon he could hear that there was only two people screaming. He grit his teeth once again. What was happening over there? He sped up and it did not take long before everything became silent.

He cursed. He could guess that they were being massacred but he did not know what it was. Was there a creature that could kill him that he had missed? He sped up and moments later he could see what was happening.

He could not control his anger when he saw the four dead girls. He did not understand where this anger was coming from. Were they not just strangers? But he soon realized that he was angry at the girls and not the orc.

Were they fools? How could they dare to attack such a creature. He was angry that he almost missed the veiled girl who was now behind the orc piercing her glaive forward. He grit his teeth veins almost appearing on his forehead.

What was wrong with them? What made her think that she could harm the orc. He could also tell that she was not in her straight mind. But attacking the orc was the same as asking for death.

He watched as her glaive shattered and its pieces falling on the ground. Then the girl fell on the orc's back and the backwards. It was then that he saw the glaive's blade was pointing above and she was falling her back aimed at it.

His anger just rose. Why were they so foolish? He had to use all his speed to help him reach the girl before she died of her own carelessness. He held her just as she was about to fall on the tip of the blade.

He stared at her closed eyes which dictated resignation. He somehow felt some calm when he saw her up close. He for a second forgot that there was an orc that spelled danger for them.

He stared at her eyelids flutter open and as her eyes opened, he couldn't help but smile. Her brown eyes darted to the side as she looked at side of the orc. Her look changed once again from that of relief to resignation.

It was then Athan raised his head and saw the sword being swung at them. He quickly leapt backwards as the orcs sword missed and slammed on the ground creating another crater. It seemed that it had not registered the presence of a new human yet.

The orc looked down away ten meters away and saw a new human. The fact that it had not sensed the human's presence before caused it to raise its guard. it turned to them and started walking in their direction.

Athan landed ten meters away from the orc. The girl for the first seemed that she looked at him but when she saw him, she could not help but shed tears and asked a question that broke Athan giving a feeling like he was being stabbed.

"Where were you," She asked as her tears fell to the ground. Athan did not understand why the words from this stranger in particular hurt like a hundred blades cutting his heart. Why did he feel like he had failed her. Was she waiting for him? That was impossible!

He grit his teeth as he kneeled and placed her on the ground

"I am here now," he said softly as he stood up and turned to the orc. He regained his distant gaze as looked up at the orc. An anger he could not place overwhelmed him as he drew his sword.

"I usually give my opponents a chance to kill me but I want to kill you as a soon as possible with the most painful way," Athan said as he started drawing his sword. The orc stopped and looked at the human standing before it.

"Hahaha human. I hope you will be worth fighting," The orc said in a voice that sounded like it was coming from a deep underground.

"I hope you put up a fight," Athan said as he fully drew his sword. He did not even wait for the orc to attack first as he took the initiative.

It was true that he wanted to kill this orc fast and he did not want to know if it could kill him. He wanted it dead. But he knew that this was not going to be an easy fight though. But he did not care as he held the sword with both hands and charged at the orc which was now five meters away from him.

The orc could tell that this human was not like the girls it had fought. The human was also the toughest human it had faced. It could tell this even before the battle began. Whether it lived or not was about to be decided in the next few minutes.

Athan's eyes were fixated on the orc as he stared at its body. He could already tell that he could not cut its neck with a single slash. It was a beast that specialized on body cultivation mainly on hardening.

This also the reason why the glaive had not even caused a scratch on it. Had been another creature, it would have accumulated some damage or even lost its life from that attack from the girl. Her position was raised slightly in him as their swords collided.

There a loud bang resulting from a sharp clang of swords. A white smoke emitted from them covering the surrounding. A strong wind blew from them in all direction threatening to take the girl with it as she rolled few meters away.

She raised her head and stared at the battle taking. She could not help but get awed. Suddenly the guy jumped backwards from the smoke. He landed few meters away from her and suddenly the orc too jumped from the smoke and landed five meters away from him.

There was no pause as they charged at each other. This time, Athan blocked the orc's sword by directing it away from him. Based on the strength the orc had placed on the attack, it had expected him to take it head on and it had placed all its weight forward.

When Athan directed the sword away from him, the orc suddenly lost its balance as it stumbled forward and fell forward. Athan watched as sparks formed the friction. he grit his teeth as he put all his strength in redirecting the sword away from him. But it did not allow itself to fall as it pierced the sword into the ground halfway and used its forward momentum to swerve sideways and swing to the other side.

Its actions as it skidded on the ground caused the tarmac to get destroyed. It stood up and pulled the sword from the ground. This again caused another crater to appear on the place the sword was stuck at.

The orc looked at him with an excited expression as it licked the sharp side of the sword. Athan could not allow the enemy a chance to recover as he had already disappeared from the front and was now charging from its back.

His body was bent forward and the sword was held with both hands behind him to the left. His speed had already surpassed that of normal human limit. This was not to mention the fact that he was not using a single speed technique.

Athan could be said to be a body cultivator too. In fact, he barely Energy Cultivated. As for his body, it could be said that it it was almost at the peak of the Fourth Stage which was known as Supreme Plane! Though, Athan did not know all this information in much details. All knew was that he was stronger than the orc which was enough.

This was to mean that he was already stronger than the demon. His speed alone was fast without even using any energy to improve his speed. As for the orc, the only problem was its hardening ability had it not been for that, Athan would have already finished it.

But that did not mean that he did not have a way to put it in its place. The orc looked forward and found the human gone but it felt an overwhelming sense of danger behind it. For this human, it did not dare to ignore his attack.

It knew that even with its hardening, there was the possibility of him causing it harm. The orc turned quickly and slashed the sword at the human who was now two meters away. Athan saw this but he did not fret. The fact that the orc was agitated, it had lost half of the battle already. Instantly, he disappeared under the shocked gaze of the orc.
