Chapter 16 - Chapter 16. Skyfall

Athan moved at a speed that exceeded what he had displayed before. The orc would never have anticipated this change. Athan shot past the sword and made his way between the wide open legs of the orc.

He slashed twice behind its knee and stopped meters away from the orc. The orc was shocked by the sudden twist. It was intelligent and it realized the moment it swung its sword forward, was the time it opened up itself to death.

What it had not anticipated was for the human to use the same technique the lady had used. Making it lower its guard. There was no way it could change the direction of its attack after putting all that force into that attack.

It could only follow with its eyes as the human shot between its legs. There was a sharp pain behind its knees as it felt the human slice the two tendons behind them. It howled loudly as blood spluttered from the slashed tendons.

It did not understand where the human had gotten the knowledge about one of its weak points. It knew that for it to manage to move, it had to leave the parts of its bodies with moveable joints without being hardened.

This just proved how correct it was not to underestimate the human but it had just done so which cost it its flexibility. From how its body was hard, it was not as easy for it to heal its organs in a short period. For the damage it had suffered, it was going to take a few hours. But did it have the time?

And that was how it had lost its mobility. It could not stand at all and there was no way the enemy was going to let it heal. It could only kneel as it turned its body to face the human but who could have know that the human would be missing now of all moments.

Its heart raced as fear overtook its heart. This was an unknown emotion to it. It was the one that was supposed to send shivers to the humans so why was it that it was the one in fear? How had it turned from predator to prey?

It looked from side to side even above but it did not see the human. This just caused it to lose its cool. It held the sword with both hands as it gritted its teeth waiting for wherever the human was going to come from.

Athan was currently almost hundred meters away from the orc. The technique he was about to use was one that he had taken a whole two years to grasp its First Stage. The technique itself was a sword technique which imitated lighting.

The technique itself was called Skyfall. He had found it when he woke up that day when he found the sword on his chest. The technique was lying beside him and he had been studying it for the past two years.

He had only grasped the First Stage but it effect was devastating beyond belief. The technique itself had ten Stages. The First Stage called Cloud. The first stage involved creating of positive and negative clouds which in turn when the clouds collided, they would create lightning.

This was just the concept behind the technique. The technique itself in general mainly emphasized on speed and strength. Athan had mastered the first stage and in order to use it, it took him ten seconds.

Though he could reduce the time with mastery to even instantly. At the moment he was on top of a building that was 100 meters away. The technique was like a dance when being practiced. It involved intricate precise steps and drawing signs on the ground.

Doing so, two illusory clouds appeared above him and they darkened with every passing second. When the ten second timer was reached a yellow lighting formed on the ground like some sort of array. Then after that, the full technique would be displayed.

This was when the lightning struck the sword, the lightning would travel through the body and this strengthened the cells such that it helped increase the strength and speed exponentially.

The reason Athan was 100 meters away was because he had little control with the speed that came with activation of the technique. This was to mean that he would probably find himself moving in the opposite direction if he activated it carelessly.

This could give the opponent a chance to evade. This was why he was 100 meters away. With the speed of the technique, if he did not lose his way, he was going to take less than a second and a half to reach the orc.

Thus if he lost his way, he would regain control in the process and spend around three to five seconds. His muscles clenched and his grip on the sword tightened. He suddenly felt his body shaking.

He wavered like a leaf on a windy day but he grit his teeth as he tried to maintain his composure. He suddenly shot forward but to his dismay, rather than going in a straight line, he went diagonally.

He laughed at himself as he grit his teeth almost making his gums bleed. Also, he could not dare to release the sword or else he would have his meridians raptured from the back lash and with the current technology, that would be the end of his cultivation life.

This just showed ho dangerous the technique was. Athan who was heading almost away from the orc finally got used to the speed as his cells adapted to the changes in speed and strength in them.

The sword glowed yellow and in an instant, he regained his balance and found himself heading in the direction of the orc which he was relieved. It did not take more than a second before he was already above the orc slashing his sword downwards.

The orc was yet to realize what was happening but the overwhelming sense of danger it could not place did not leave it. It did not even hear the steps behind it. How could it in the first place?

The speed Athan was moving at was so fast such that the first steps he had taken were yet to produce their sound! So what about the ones closer to the orc? It was never going to hear them!

Athan slashed the sword at the neck of the orc. Even the girl, if she saw him that is, she would be seeing a blur. The sword did not meet any resistance it was as if it was cutting through butter rather than the hardened neck it was.

The head was sent flying meters away. Even the orc which was on high alert never realized how it died. It was left kneeling holding the sword with both hands. If one looked at the head, it showed no emotion.

This was to mean that it had died even before it could feel any emotion. Athan landed in front of the orc as blood gushed from the freshly severed neck and rained on him. If one looked at the sword, it had not even the tiniest drop of blood.

He sheathed the sword as he fell on one knee. The technique was too taxing on him but it was due to only one reason. The technique was an Energy Cultivation one but he always neglected his Energy Cultivation.

It was even possible that he did not know about the third facet of cultivation which was the Soul. He had forced the technique into submission with nothing but his body strength!

The technique required at least one to have reached the Supreme Plane in Energy Cultivation. This only helped to show the monster he was. Forcing an energy cultivation to operate in the Body Cultivation. But there was also the possibility that he did not know that the technique was supposed to be used for Energy Cultivation for it was not written on it.

It was also a possibility that he did not know which elements he could manipulate. This was the result of him isolating himself from the world and not bothering to know. He breathed out as what appeared like a white smoke blew out.

He really was exhausted. He stayed in this position for few seconds catching his breath. He stood up and looked at the orc. The only thing of importance he found on the orc was its broad sword.

There was no way he was going to leave it today. He was also on his way from this wasteland as he had a mission to join an academy and learn about the New World Order. He walked towards the orc and chopped its fingers.

He knew just how tight the fingers were holding the sword. He did not have the strength to raise the fingers which were almost his arm's length. The sword dropped and he bent to pick it but he almost farted when he tried to lift the sword.

Maybe had he eaten of late he would have. He stood up bent again with new strength. He picked the sword with relative ease. When he said that he was stronger than the orc, he really meant it.

It was just that the first time he was caught off guard by the weight of the sword. The sword was twice as long as him and about three times wider than him. The sword's blade was around the length of his shoulder for it fitted perfectly.

It was then he looked around. He realized that the girls were not foolish as he thought. They had been ambushed by a horde of demons. He felt pity for them especially when he saw the remaining girl who was now just standing up.

She too had not registered what had happened and she knew that the guy was not going to tell her. She was facing away from him and she did not even realize that her veil had been blown away as she turned and looked at his direction...
