What Athan had to accept was that she was not an amateur. The fact that she assessed the situation and come to realize that the demons were all of the first stage made him raise her position from how he viewed her.
Athan was not one to drag others into danger together with himself. He knew that there was no way he could attract the demons of the Third or any higher Stages with noise. This was because they were more intelligent than the lower cultivation demons.
This was to mean attracting them with noise was not possible. Having analyzed up to this stage was enough for him to not look down on her. He was sure that he could easily kill all of them and he was sure that she too felt the same.
He could only chuckle realizing he had given a dagger to an enemy to do whatever she wanted with him. He looked at her and saw they had come to the same thoughts. He was sure he saw an evil smile on her lips which sent him shivers.
"Bring the sword!" She almost shouted desperately. He was still wasting time despite the fact he could see that they were surrounded. Athan blinked as unsheathed the sword and handed it to her.
The girl stretched her hand and picked it but she almost fell face first under the weight of the sword. Had she not acted fast and released it, she would have. She glared at him realizing why he had chuckled before.
Athan was coming to realize what his greatest fear was. It was that gaze she gave him. That angry glare. Athan rubbed his nose as he spoke to the sword.
"Behave!" He said feigning anger still rubbing his nose. Athan's sword had a special ability that allowed it to increase its weight. He had made his sword heavier than that of the orc at that moment he fought it.
This was an ability he had learnt when he was practicing the technique Skyfall. The girl sent him another glare as she bent to pick the sword which was now perfect for her strength. She could not help but raise a brow when she held the sword.
But she did not have the luxury to think too much as she held the sword with both hands.
"You attack behind and I will attack the ones in front. Don't think am using you. I can also take down 100," she said shamelessly leaving the other 200 for him. She also knew that he was going to finish before her and help her.
Athan chuckled as if reading her mind. He did not attack as he allowed her to attack first. How could he not know that the orc's sword had an ability of controlling demons. This was what he had come to find out from all demons he had fought.
If they were of a higher cultivation, their weapons had demon mind control abilities controlling those of the lower cultivation. Thus, just like this, he divided the demons into two and left the 100 there. As for the rest, he sent them away under the shocked gaze of the girl.
He did not dare look to see her angry glare or he would be forced to send them away too. Quickly, he leapt to one building and stood on its roof as he let the girl fight the 100 demons on her own.
She angrily started slicing the demons. She did not even use any technique. It was then an anger she had forgotten about suddenly crawled back. It was this race of demons that had taken down her friends.
The flashbacks of her friends' death overwhelmed her as she angrily started slicing the demons with a one fell sweep. She started shouting as she sliced the demons with her all. Tears started falling down from her eyes.
This was her chance to vent and get her revenge on the demons. All she could think of was eradicating all the demons. She screamed and slashed. Screamed and sliced. Screamed, jumped and sliced.
It reached a point she dropped the sword and started beating them a physical war. Throwing punches at them and opening their mouths wide open. She gorged their eyes out and snapped their necks.
She tore them limb by limb as she screamed. At the moment, she was like a banshee. Screaming and reaping lives. Even the demons were suddenly overwhelmed by a fear such that they did not move and just stood waiting for their deaths.
She reached a point where she started crawling on all fours like one who had been possessed. She did not care at the moment. All she wanted was to see them all dead which was happening.
She did not care about her bloodied self as she stopped at the head of a tranced demon. She held its horns and looked up screaming. She snapped the demon's neck and jumped from that demon to another.
Athan who was staring from atop could only shiver at her display of strength. This just helped him reaffirm never to make a woman angry. He was sure that she was just a few steps away from tearing their flesh away using her teeth.
Her screams sent him shivers. He looked behind her and counted around around fifty demons dead. Around fifteen of them dead from swords while the rest were were mutilated using fist and fingers.
Some had no eyes and other had lost their horns. He could see the few that had their tongues pulled out almost half a meter from the mouths stretched to their utmost limits. Athan felt another shiver as she snapped the neck of a demon.
She then stood on top of a demon and screamed at the skies like a wolf. This time, she punched the demon with a white glow on her fist. The fist went through the demon's skin and as she pulled her hand out, she pulled out a heart.
Athan shivered. This display. It was like she had given up on all logic and was now acting on instinct. Still, he smiled. The fact that she was angry and was venting was enough. This was what he had wanted. For her to vent.
He sat down and watched as she single handedly massacred the 100 demons. Luckily she had not used her teeth. The last demon she killed was of the second stage which she did with ease. Athan stretched as he jumped from the roof and landed next to her.
He looked at the trail of bodies behind her and nodded.
"Have you had enough or should I call more for you?" He asked his voice laced with sarcasm. She glared at him as he felt cold sweat trickle down his back. That glare he did not want to see...
Her body was covered with back liquid even in her face which made her look like the ghost in a horror movie. Athan retreated and went to pick his sword. When he turned back to look at her, the blood was flying from her face and hair. She was using the wind. Though there was nothing she could do for the blood on her cloths.
She could only let it be. Just then, the first ray of the morning sun shone though it was being blocked by the buildings.
"Thank you," she said suddenly as she looked towards Athan. Athan was shocked but he understood. She had seen through him once again. "Also, do not try do so again," She said as she started walking away.
Athan just smiled as he followed her after he sheathed his sword.
"Don't get me wrong. But whose idea was it for you girls to come to this regions? Your parents could never allow you to do so," Athan said. He knew just how overprotective the noble parents were.
"Mind your own business," she said and scoffed.
"Aha, I see. So it was you. No, it was that talkative girl," Athan said as one who had been enlightened.
But how could he call that striking a conversation? He was just hurting her with his words.
"Would you just keep quiet?" She asked reigning her emotions. Athan this time realized his mistake and was silent for a while.
Athan was usually not talkative but he could not bring himself to not speak.
"Tell me about your city," he said. The girl was silent for a few minutes and sighed before she replied.
" Don't expect me to tell you about my family. The city is around a week away from this region. I do not know how you came here but lemme tell you that you cannot just come to this region without a License.
"Licenses are given by Guilds based on missions. To access this danger zone, you need a Golden License. Just asking, How did you cross the inspection zones? They make sure that you cannot come to this region without a Golden License." She asked.
Athan was thoughtful for a while before he replied.
" I have been here for more than two years," Athan replied.
"What?" She asked shocked.
