"I can't believe that that rude guy left without even asking the name of our young miss," the girl who spoke most said. The other three were in the same boat as her. But who they were calling young miss was not even bothered.
"Let's go," she said as she led the way. The four girls followed her and chattered on their own sometimes going back to the guy. As for the lady they called young miss, her thoughts were different.
Of all the guys she had met, she was sure that he was the strongest. She usually avoided them but suddenly she was thinking about him just like the girls were talking aloud about him. She could not understand herself.
Hours later, the girls were now seated on the ground leaning on the wall of an almost collapsed building. They had a tired look on their faces and they were rocking their heads lazily on the wall.
Their weapons were lying next to them and looking at the skies, the sun was already beginning to set. But the sun rays were blocked from them by the tall buildings. One of the girls yawned and stretched. They were unusually quiet.
It did not take long before they could here footsteps approaching them. All this time they had not encountered a single demon. But now with the sun setting, it was usually at this time that demons came out to hunt.
Hearing the incoming footsteps, the girls stood up quickly each of them grabbing their weapons quickly. They were in the open and what shocked them when they stood with their back on each other, they sighed when they saw the incoming demon.
It was just a single demon in the distance crawling on all fours. It had a lizard look and somehow it was around two meter long. What made the girls sigh relieved was because the creature coming at them was just a first stage.
Each of them could take a single one of them with just a single slash. But that did not explain the momentum of the footsteps they had heard. They did not even get to decide who was to attack first when suddenly on the opposite side came another one.
It was then that they felt the momentum of the incoming creatures. It was not just one but a horde. Each of the horde coming at them had around 20 lizard like creatures. They felt shiver crawl down their spine as cold sweat matted their backs.
They knew that they could take them all but it was going to require them to use they had. And after that, hey were going to be exhausted beyond belief. They did not move as they waited for the creatures to reach them.
What they did not understand was where all these creatures had come from. The first thing they were sure about was that with every horde, there was a commander. This was to mean that this horde was not the enemy but someone or something else was.
With this realization, they knew that they had to preserve their strength for the unknown enemy. The lizard-like creatures were obviously demonic. They had yellow eyes and their pupils were nothing but black pinholes.
They had a savage look on their faces as their green tongues hang out with greenish drool seeping from their mouths.
"Preserve your strength. We are not facing these demons only. Make sure you use no technique," the veiled girl spoke an the rest four nodded.
They all charged at the demons and true to their words, they managed to kill each demon with a single strike. Their movement were precise and it was obvious that they had been trained. Each of them used a sword except for the veiled girl who use a spear.
Each of them landed a strike at the same time taking down a demon. They all drew back and took in deep breaths. They had a serious look on their faces. They had just learned something. The demons were exceptionally tough!
But this did not demotivate them as they all charged again and this time they did not draw back. The veiled girl was the best among them. Her spear was like an extension of he hands. With every swing, the spear struck a demon killing it immediately.
She ended up killing most of them. She was also the one who had the last kill. She had great stamina for she was not taking in deep breaths like the others despite the fact that she had killed the most number.
Looking at her now, she was different. Her veil was intact but it was bloodied. Also her once caramel face was now tainted with blackish blood. But he eyes showed resolution. Like she could do the same feat again.
The grip on her spear tightened as she took in deep breaths. The other four girls came and stood in line with her. In the distance, they saw another orc. It was slightly larger than the other orc the guy had taken down.
The incoming orc too was carrying a broad sword. They felt their bodies shiver uncontrollably. It was obvious that this was going to be their final day. They were not sure whether the treasures they carried were going to help them.
The girl with the spear was the one with the highest cultivation. She was in the peak of the third stage called the Master Plane. One could ask how their cultivation was this high while cultivation had started just two years ago.
It was not that cultivating was easy right? But one should remember that the four girls kept referring to her as a young miss. This was to mean that they were from a noble family. Before the noble families they were the hidden families.
The hidden families were cultivators and since they knew about the incoming threat, they had made their children to start cultivating. Thus they had been cultivating since a long time. Maybe had the atmospheric Qi not gone down, she could be in the fifth stage known as Sovereign plane.
But the orc coming at them was not an energy cultivator but a body cultivator. This was to mean that it was in the Fourth Stage of body cultivation while its energy cultivation was in the First Stage.
The orc's steps were fast and each step shook the ground slightly. It stood in front of the girls towering above them standing at almost 12 feet and almost a meter and a half wide. It roared at them and slammed its fists on its chest.
The girls trembled as they held they swords tightly. One could see their shaking hands as they inclined their necks to look at the High orc standing in front of them. Its sword was almost five meters long and half a meter wide. One could only imagine its weight yet the orc was holding it as if it was nothing but a feather.
The orc held the sword with both hands and raised it. It did not utter any intimidating words and just slashed the sword downwards.
"SCATTER!" The veiled girl was quick to assess the situation and shouted to remove the girls from their stupor all else they would lose their lives.
The girls mastered their courage and jumped away just when the sword was about to slice them. The orc missed and the sword slammed on the ground digging a crater almost half a meter wide. Its eyes widened as it laughed maniacally.
Rock flew from the crater in all directions as cracks appeared on the ground from the crater. Some followed the girls and one girl who had been late in jumping away was caught in the rumble as a shard of the layers of the tarmac which was almost spherical followed after her.
The shard came after her and unknown to her, it was coming at he neck. she finally landed on the ground and she sat up to look at the rumble the orc had caused. The veiled girl who was the first to jump away was the first to recover.
She stood up fast and looked around only to see the shard which was flying at one of her friend. The girl landed and had she stayed on the ground, the shard would have missed. But her battle instinct did not allow her to stay on the ground as she tried to sit up and look at what had happened so she would take the next step.
"Get down!" The veiled girl shouted but it was too late as the girl turned and looked at the direction of the orc only to see the shard after her. She did not even get to scream before her head was sent flying and rolling.
At that moment, for the girls, the world had come to a standstill. Everything quietened around them as they tried to digest just what had happened. The remaining four were all in a stupor. Despite their strength, they were nothing but inexperienced teenagers.
In their lives, they had never seen one of their own die in a battle. Not to mention one of their age and their friend. They wanted to scream but their voices were lost. They could only hear their heart beating in their heads.
They were distracted in a battle of life and death. But they could not help it. The orc stared at the humans standing in front of it with an amused expression. To think that they would lose themselves over something as a single death.
This just made its battle easier than expected. It raised its sword and slashed at another girl who was not moving. Even when the sword was a meter from the girl, she did not move. It was like she was lost in her own world.
It was not just her but all of them. The sword sliced at her head slicing her into two symmetric halves. Blood spluttering in all directions as the two halves fell opposite each other...
