Chapter 2 - Her New Guardian

She walked along the hall of the white walls until she finally came to stand before a large door.

She sighed then pushed the door lightly and entered. What came to her view were a group of men seated at the right hand side of the large room and at the left hand side sat the women.

They were about ten in the room as they all stared at the person who had just interrupted their discussion.

At the centre of the large room sat her guardian, Louis who she had come to see. She wasn't expecting him to be having a meeting.

Her eyes wandered around the room and her blue eyes met with a pair of deep blue eyes.

She held his eyes for three seconds until she heard someone speak across the room.

"It seems this is the human that the headmaster had been raising" A woman spoke.

"Sorry for the interruption, I wasn't expecting a bunch of supernaturals in t-this very large room" Anna said awkwardly, retreating her steps.

"Anna" Louis called. "Let's talk later" He said.

"Later has never been a problem" She said and smiled awkwardly.

She paused to look at the the owner of the blue eyes in the room before she turned and left and she went back to the top walls.

Top walls was the place she had lived for the past ten years until two years ago when she had left the supernatural's academy to the city where the humans resided.

The top walls had been the only place she knew as home for ten years and it is still her home.

It was the only place she felt safe as long as she was in the supernatural's territory. Louis had become her guardian since the night he had found her own the streets.

He had decided to help that hopeless six years old girl that night.

The night when Anna's whole world had crashed when she became an orphan and no one wanted her. But Louis had seen her and decided to take care of her.

Knowing she was human and he was a supernatural. It was a rule set that a human isn't allowed to step foot in the academy but Louis had still helped her and had convinced the judge, the head of the supernaturals academy to let her live in the academy.

Her thoughts got interrupted when she heard the doorbell ring. She jolted up from her sitting position on the sofa and walked to the door and opened it expecting to meet the gaze of the old man that she had come to trust after so many years have passed. But her gaze met a familiar blue gaze. The blue gaze she had seen in the room she had just left.

"Louis told me to wait for him here" The hoarse voice said as she couldn't bear to hold his gaze for too long. He walked passed her into the house which made her turn mute.

His aura had made her speechless and glued to where she stood. His aura sent shivers down her spine.

If he wasn't standing in a supernatural's ground she would have come to a conclusion that he wasn't a supernatural.

Supernaturals have their aura which makes a supernatural to easily identify another supernatural.

But he was different. His aura was intimidating and captivating at the same time. She hadn't felt this intimidated by anyone in her life.

She was a human but she had learnt how to recognize supernaturals by their scents. That was one of the difficult things that Louis had taught her.

She realized she was still at the door and the intruder was inside. She slammed the door and went in after him.

"Hey" She called out to stop him but he was already in the living room. She closed the door and walked to the living room ready to confront the man that had dared to enter without permission.

"It has been so long that I've been here" He said.

"You cannot just barge in like that..."

"I don't wait to get invited" He said in a calm voice but...

His aura was so strong. It wielded so much power, he was a supernatural, that she was sure of but his aura was different from that of a supernatural. What made him so different?

She took a step back getting weary of him.

"Louis rarely have visitors when he is around and he doesn't have at all when he isn't around" She said trying to act tough even do his aura made her feel small. No supernatural had intimidated her like this.

"Then, I'll be the first" He turned and looked at her and said, turning around again to take in his surroundings.

The front door suddenly opened and Louis came into view. She walked towards him and stood before him.

   "Anna" He called out softly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked her expression indifferent.

   "I knew..."

"I hate being lied to." She said

angrily which made Louis vulnerable

at this point. He always felt like that

whenever she was angry at him.

"Me leaving is for the best. If I don't

then who would" He said

"It feels..." She turned to see the man sitting down calmly on the sofa, his attention not on them but elsewhere but she knew his ears were still very attentive and also Anna didn't want to speak before this stranger.

"Let's talk elsewhere" She said and turned and walked out of the living room to the study room. Louis glanced at the man who sat on the sofa and nodded his head and smiled before he closed the door after him.

This was the first time she got to speak to Louis while he was standing and he was not sitting down behind his desk in his study room.

"It isn't fair to just decide to leave just like that." She said

"Things right here is getting tough.I need to go and I can't tell you the reason why but I had fore seen something. I know what you are worried about but don't you worry I have..."

"I know I'm selfish but you just decided to leave without attending my graduation" She complained and clicked her tongue. "Are you angry because I had beaten that guy so badly and you're tired of clearing my messes?" She asked and frowned.

"It isn't about you. This is about me and my duty as the headmaster of this academy" He said and smiled seeing her pout her lips.

"I would be leaving tomorrow morning but I won't be able to stay the night" He said and sighed. She just stood staring at him.

"As long as you're gone I'll stay out of trouble, I promise" She pledged, her hand on her chest.

"No promises, Anna" He said and shook his head. "You've promised so many times about being a good girl and you're yet to fulfill any" Louis said and walked to his chair and sat down.

"But I'm promising I'll be good" She said in a low voice which made Louis chuckle.

"You need someone to look after you while I am away" He said which made her narrow her eyes.

"I can look after myself. I'm almost eighteen " She said

"The only way you can look after yourself is by getting into lots and lots of trouble and while I'm gone you need someone who would keep you away from trouble since I failed at that" He said

"Am I really that bad?" She asked and sat down on the couch in the study room.

"I found you a guardian who will protects you as long as I am gone" Louis said and cleared his throat.

"You know I hate other people accept you" Anna said with a frown on her face.

"The leader of Knight's team, Xander Glenn will be your guardian" Louis said Luke he was very proud of the name.

"Who is Xander Glenn" Anna asked

*****

Anna left the study room and went back to the living room. The man was no longer seated on the sofa but he was standing at the window pane staring outside. He turned around when he heard footsteps walking towards him. She came to stand before him as he looked at her and smiled. He wanted to speak but she beat him to it.

"Why would you agree to taking care of me?" She asked suddenly. Anna waited for his answer but he didn't give one. "I need an answer" She snapped frustratingly.

"It is an hassle on my part but I need to pay the old man a favour that I owe." He said and Anna looked at his blue eyes for just a split second and she felt a strange familiarity before she turned away and took something from the table when Louis came to the living room. She walked to the door and opened it.

"Where are you going to?" Louis asked

"To feed the fishes" She answered and opened the door and slammed the door very hard before she left.

"Interesting" The man said when Anna slammed the door.

"Well, she is really sensitive and hard to control" Louis said and smile"

"I've never felt responsible for anyone before let alone a human" He said and Louis laughed.

"I'm putting my trust in you as her guardian to take care of her. She should not get in trouble with the supernaturnals." Louis said

"You've gotten so attached over the years. Are you sure about trusting her to me? " Xander asked which made Louis smile fall.

"You're the only supernatural I can trust and I believe in you" He said and patted his shoulders.

"I'll get going now, Louis. Safe journey." He said and smiled again before he turned and left.

Louis knew Xander so well. Xander was the leader of the Knight team in supernatural academy. Supernaturals' academy was a school for supernaturnals.

In supernaturals' academy students are put into teams in which they will be trained by teachers. The best teacher is called the leader and the best team is trained by the best teacher.

Xander is the best teacher in Nestling academy and he had not been thrown off his throne for so many years. The best team in the school is the Knight team which makes Xander leader of the Knight team.

Louis hoped Xander would protect Anna and he also hoped that Anna would stay out of troubles
