Chapter 3 - The Human

The night was eerie but Xander didn't mind because he liked the peace and quiet of the forest. His black coat swept the ground as he walked. His thoughts travelled to the morning in Louis' house.

   The girl

He has never felt responsible for anybody let alone protect and worst of all, a human. He had put the idea into Louis' head of him becoming the girl's guardian. If he wanted to back out, it was very easy.

But the girl, she had this strange energy he felt that he couldn't just comprehend. She acted too confident, too sure and that was what intrigued him. He smirked thinking about when she asked him why he agreed to be her guardian. No one have ever stood up to him in such manner.

A stone came flying in his direction which he quickly caught before it hit him on his head.

"It seems your instincts never fail even when you're lost in thoughts" A black haired girl commented from the top of a tree.

"That's because I never get lost so deeply" He retorted which resulted in him throwing the stone back at her but she dodged it by jumping off the tree. She came to stand beside him with a sly smile on her beautiful face.

"Where have you been? We thought you lost your way." She taunted smirking widely.

"So impatient of you. You want to know if I've changed my mind already." He said and snarled.

"I know you too well you're as sly as a fox. She's still coming, right?"She asked her anger already building up.

"You've not seen her yet but you're already plotting her exile" He said and smirked enjoying the way the mood of the black-haired girl change drastically .

"I don't need to see her. Every single human makes me feel nauseous" She said

"Then I'll get to see your nauseous face everyday, then" He said then chuckled.

"You seem to amaze me this past few days. You becoming someone's guardian, so strange." She said and scoffed as they began to draw nearer to the invisible gate of the quarters' area of supernaturnal academy.

Xander heaved a sigh as he turned his head to look at her. This blonde was trying to get something out of him but he was not going to budge.

Trisha was a member of supernatural academy. The girl didn't like the fact that a human would live with them and also the fact that Xander would have to protect her.

They finally entered the gate of the supernatural academy as they both walked to their quarters.

"Why did you go to the city?" Trisha asked

The city was where the humans resided and supernaturnals rarely go there because of their hatred for the humans. The supernaturnals avoid the city due to their superiority complex, not anxiety. The supernaturnals could live in the city as a human and nothing will be suspected but the supernaturals have their pride to keep. But nevertheless some supernaturals still live in the city especially the rogue supernaturals who have been exiled from their home.

"To take a stroll. The air in the city is purer than the air here" He answered.

   "Having a second thought already?"

She asked with a smirk on her face.

Xander sneered and turned to look at her. "I do have a third thought before making my decision" He said as they reached their quarters. Their team members were outside sitting on a log as they drank and ate.

"Ohh, Xander is back" A red - haired guy said as the other two looked up and saw Trisha and Xander walking towards them.

"It's almost midnight already and you guys are drinking. " Trisha said as Xander sat next to the guy who had announced his arrival.

"Andrew was in a good mood and decided to treat us" Alexa, the second girl in the team said.

"What's the celebration all about?" Xander asked and collected the bottle of beer that Andrew had just opened.

"Hey, that's not fair" Andrew complained and sneered.

"He saw the human girl today" Alexa said and smiled.

"Oh my" Trisha gasped irritably and rubbed her temples.

"She's really pretty. She has blue eyes just like Xander's" Andrew commented with a smile.

"Xander's is deeper." The third guy spoke for the first time.

"Leon you've seen her?" Trisha asked and scoffed.

"Well, yes. I'm not infatuated like Andrew" He said

"It's not infatuation, it's love." Andrew said as Alexa laughed. Trisha was so angry that she walked out angrily.

"I think she is going to sleep" Commented Alexa as the slam of the door almost deafened their ears.

"Xander, would you let me marry her?" He asked which made Xander look at him from the corner of his eyes. Andrew who saw this sat down straight and coughed to avoid his gaze.

"I want to take a shower" Xander said and stood up and was about to enter inside.

"Xander" Alexa called out his name in a low voice. Xander turned back and smirked when he saw a figure walking towards them in the shadows. Anna came to stand before the four supernaturals.

"Never expected her to come all by herself and at this time" Andrew whispered to Alexa.

   "Has he left?" Xander asked

"He's leaving tomorrow. I just came to see where I'll be staying for the mean time." Anna said stressing her last words dramatically.

"What exactly do you want to see?" Xander asked with one of his eyebrows raised.

"J- Just to look around is not a c- crime" Anna said stuttering in between her words.

"How did you find here?" Xander asked.

"Oh, it was simple. I saw light from the first quarters in the forest and I saw you and..." Anna was explaining when Xander interrupted her.

"Do you know it is very dangerous to walk into a supernaturals' territory casually?" Xander asked

"W- Well I w- was..."

"Alexa, get her settled. I need to go somewhere." He said and was about to leave.

"I'm not staying. I just came to see around" Anna said angrily.

"There isn't any need to leave since you're already here. Whereas you were supposed to be here tomorrow" He said seriously making Anna to bite her lips.

"My stuffs. I need a lot of things..." Anna wasn't able to finish her sentence.

"I'll get it for you" Xander offered and before she could object he had already apparated from there.

Anna was angry, very angry because he had forced her to stay here against her wishes. How was she going to stay among supernaturals, not one but five.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the guy's voice.

Andrew stood up from the log and walked to Anna with a smile.

"My name is Andrew. One of the strongest..."

"Don't be a nuisance, Andrew." Alexa said and rolled her eyes as she pushed  him lightly when she got to his side. "Very pleased to see you, Anna. My name is Alexa." She introduced stretching her hand for an handshake. Anna glanced at her hand and walked passed her.

"A supernatural does not exchange pleasantries with any other kind." Anna said as Alexa whose hand hung in mid air dropped her hand to her side and turned around and gave Anna a crooked smile.

"You're our guest for so many days to come. So, we should treat you right." Alexa said between gritted teeth.

"I would like to rest now" Leon said and got up. "Let me show you to your room" Leon offered and Anna looked at him and paused before she walked to the door.

Leon and Anna entered into the quarters while Andrew and Alexa remained outside.

"She's so rude" Alexa said angrily. She felt like jumping on the girl and throwing her a few punches and remind her that she shouldn't talk to her elders so rudely.

"But she is still pretty" Andrew said which made Alexa throw her slippers at him. He groaned loudly when the slippers hit his forehead.

"Do you want to destroy my handsome face?" Andrew yelled rubbing his forehead in pain. "If I were a human I would be having a bump already" He complained. Alexa glared at him and pushed him before she entered the quarters leaving him behind.

"Sometimes I do wonder if I should be scared of her" He murmured under is breath before walking inside and closing the door.

                           *****

Xander came back after the midnight, in the early hours of the morning.

He saw Leon in the living room working on some papers.

"Couldn't you do your assignments in your room?" Xander asked.

"You know how loudly Andrew snores. I wouldn't be able to concentrate" Leon said without looking up at him.

"Did Alexa get her settled down?" Xander asked.

"The girl pissed her but I gave her the vacant room" Leon answered and looked up and noticed Xander was with two suitcases. "The girl's things, right?" Leon asked as Xander hummed and left the living room to his room.

"A human in a supernatural's den" Leon said and smirked.
