Chapter 15 - Was he Uriel?

Jovita's POV

I stared at Maddie as she carefully folded her favourite, grey sweatpants. I was spending the weekend at her family's mansion in Green Valley, the loveliest part of Foxtown. It was decorated with lush grasses, trees, shrubs, and majestic mansions similar to Maddie's.

I had just filled Maddie in on what happened yesterday and was waiting for her reply. Maddie was a counsellor among our circle of friends, she had a strange, mature wisdom wisdom-filled mind that I believed had probably come from the many books she was always engrossed in.

"So what are you going to do?" She asked.

I shrugged, sitting on the white, soft armchair beside her king-size bed.

"Nothing just live life I guess".

"Jovita you can't live without your mate, you have to be in unison with him".

"I was living very well without him from what I recall, besides I only got to know he was my mate yesterday".

"You should at least ask him what he meant, since you didn't understand the accusations, clearly there's a misunderstanding here", Maddie replied with a worried expression.

I stared at the wall, calculating.

I was still a bit shaken from yesterday's event, and Jayden's outburst was one I had yet to understand the reason for.

It hurt to think that he saw me as a liar and a fake, for a reason I couldn't fathom. I was angry at myself for letting him hurt me, yes he was my mate but it didn't mean anything. It should mean anything.

"It should mean everything, Jovita," my inner voice whispered. I shrugged off the voice, it shouldn't mean anything I concluded.

He didn't seem to believe me when I said I couldn't remember. What happened after that vampire strangled me? I pondered. The woman who claimed to be my mother said something about erasing memories. What did she mean? What did she erase?

"Fine I talked to him", I said resigning to my curiosity. I needed to understand what happened from the moment I passed out, and exactly what it was that Jayden was angry about.

"Yes that would be better, getting to know your mate would help a lot, and who knows, maybe you'd wolf out soon".

"Maybe", I mumbled nonchalantly.

I was still finding it hard to believe that Jayden was my mate. I couldn't believe an outcast like me could deserve such a mate. He would never see me as good enough to be his Luna, plus what would his pack say, I was an unwanted addition to the family.

"So what are you going to do about the vampire? What was his name again?" Maddie asked.

"Uriel".

My mind flashed to the conversation I had with the intruder before I passed out. He said he wasn't Uriel, but I was almost certain I was staring at Uriel. And what did he mean about Uriel being his brother? The only siblings I knew Uriel had were sisters. Who was that man? And what was he to Uriel? What did he mean when he said his brother was going to be angry? Did his brother know me? Was he Uriel?

Thousands of questions rushed to my head. I was still confused. What did that strange woman mean about me having powers?

I sighed, I was beginning to feel a throbbing pain in my head. I had been thinking throughout the day since I left Jayden's house.

Mansion would be an understatement when describing his house. It was tall and majestic, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the beautiful view of Foxtown's second beach.

The grasses and Forest trees surrounding the building were lush and green. Combined with the air emanating from the sea and the sweet scent the forest trees and flowers provided, the atmosphere was filled with a refreshing and serene feel.

It was the part of Foxtown inhabited by only the affluent and royalties. I wasn't surprised though, Jayden's pack was the most respected among all the other werewolf packs. I still couldn't come to terms with the fact that he was my mate.

The snapping of a tree branch outside Maddie's house drew me out of my revival.

Maddie let out a scream as her window snapped open, and a powerful figure landed with a low thud on her room floor, his eyes only on me.

Ignoring Maddie, he headed towards where I sat frozen on Maddie's bed. Scooping me into his arms, he took off through Maddie's window as fast as a falcon in pursuit of its prey.
