Jovita's POV
I stared around the room filled with young adults, my eyes searching for my best friends. One of the white brothers, Conan was throwing a party at his parent's vacation mansion, a few minutes from Jayden's house.
The party was filled with the most popular werewolves in Torin, and I was pretty surprised when I got an invitation. In the past, I usually just tagged along with Maddie and Anna, as no one ever invited me.
"It was probably because of Jayden I got an invitation", I had told my besties, tossing the card on my old bedside table. They had come over to stay with me for the weekend. We came together for the party, but I had excused myself to use the restroom, and now they were gone.
I avoided the crowd of scarcely dressed females and overly dressed males, as I continued my search. I saw many heads turn in my direction. Yeah, I was beautiful, but I had never drawn heads until I started hanging out with Jayden. It was bringing in more attention than I wanted.
"Oh she's pretty", a girl dressed in a pink mini dress that accentuated her slim frame, said to her friends in a loud whisper.
"Oh is she? I wonder what he sees in the outcast", she said, throwing me a dagger stare. She was probably one of Jayden's endless list of crushers, I concluded, moving on. I wasn't about to get killed by a dragon-like female in the poorest-looking cargo pants I have ever seen.
I continued my search through the crowd. Where were my besties? I wondered.
I hadn't wanted to come to this party for two reasons; first, it was going to be a subject of gossip for weeks. Who wore the finest dress, who looked the hottest, who kissed who…huh, those weren't my kind of things. I'd rather stay quiet and unnoticed.
I hadn't seen any sign of Jayden since we got to the party, he was meant to be here. His friend was the host. Besides, all the popular guys were here, and Jayden and his crew were currently the most popular guys, with Jayden, Seth, and Eric topping the hot list.
Arrghh, did I just say Seth? Talk about the devil, and here is. I saw Seth among a group of boys and quickly diverted through another group of people.
I wasn't in the mood for unnecessary conversations.
Okay so let's go back to my reason two;
Since the fight between Jayden and Seth, Jayden and I hadn't spoken to each other. It had been… a quick guess, two weeks ago, and we saw each other every day. Beautiful right?
As you'd guess, he and Seth were buddies again, and Seth was back to hovering around me like a stalking lion.
I had been scared that I almost lost him, but thankfully, he only sustained a few minor injuries which Jayden later healed, and now he was good as new.
At first, I had been angry at Jayden for almost killing Seth and avoided him. When I got past my anger, I figured out he was avoiding me too.
My best friends had advised me to talk to him since I was majorly at fault, but I didn't see the sense in that. Seth was bleeding, I only went for the most serious matter at hand, isn't that we're taught in med school?
"Your mate always comes first Jovita" Anna said in a cry-like voice, but I ignored her.
Well, Jayden wasn't at the party, so there wasn't anything to worry about.
After a few minutes of searching, I caught sight of Anna. She had been waiting for me to come out of the restroom but had to join me when she realized she was pressed too. When she returned, she had been searching for me too, while Maddie had been whisked away by her mate.
Anna and I headed for the bar, but Anna's mate came for her before we could reach our destination, and that left only me. Piteous right?
When I reached the bar, I picked up a punch and headed outside, I needed some air.
I had just crossed to the garden of our host when I saw him. He had his back to me, yet he looked heavenly. He was wearing a sage-green shirt with matching black trousers and a pair of black shoes. His hair was loose, falling to his shoulders, and swirling in the wind. My heart did a quick flip.
I was still considering whether or not to approach him when a pretty, tall girl came over to hug him tightly, while he patted her back, and planted a kiss on her forehead, his eyes glowing with admiration.
I felt my blood turn cold, and my breath choking. I couldn't understand the feeling, as I had never felt this way before. Was I jealous?
Turning back to the house, I headed for the restroom. I could barely see as tears blurred my vision. We fought for barely two weeks, and he has someone else in his arms already, my mind echoed continuously.
