Jayden's POV
It was excruciating, but I pulled my body on top of her's, shielding her against the cold. She was soft and fragile.
I felt her body stiffen against mine, and I smiled. She was trying her best not to think so I couldn't tell what was going through her head, I could guess at least, from the feel of her taut nipple against my chest, and her rapid heartbeat.
I leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm sorry for putting you through this", I whispered into her ear.
Uriel was right, wasn't the perfect mate for Jovita. I was meant to be her Alpha, her protector, but here I was, endangering her life on a constant basis.
"I should be the one apologizing, Uriel is here because of me".
"He's not, you might be part of the reason he's here, but not the only reason".
She was about to say something, but my friends' giggles and banter cut her short.
"We should probably give you guys a room", Eric said, giggling.
I pulled myself from on top of her realizing it was daybreak already.
I groaned at the excruciating pain that shot through my spine at that little movement.
Eric helped me up, while Seth helped Jovita. My wolf growled. I was quite too much of a jealous lover.
"What happened?" Eric asked.
"I'd explain later, for now, just make sure my princess is somewhere comfortable and rested", I said.
The others cooed, while Jovita blushed deeply, her heart-shaped face looking more beautiful than I remembered.

"How do you feel?" Jovita asked me, her turquoise eyes laced with care.
We were at my house now, and it was well past noon. Jovita had sent a message through her friends to her parents that she wouldn't be coming home, and they agreed. Apparently they weren't as strict as I had thought.
Now she sat on my soft, plush bed, the cool breeze from the open window gently tousling her hair. Her eyes scanned my room, from the painting I did last summer, a vibrant scene of a sunlit meadow, to the unique color of the walls, a soothing shade of seafoam green that seemed to bring a sense of tranquility to the space.
My wardrobe, crafted from rich mahogany wood, stood proudly in the corner, its polished surface reflecting the warm sunlight streaming in through the window. Inside, neatly arranged shirts and suits in shades of navy blue and charcoal gray awaited my selection, though I could say they were probably more than I needed.
The bedcovers were adorned with intricate patterns of swirling vines and delicate flowers, matching the color scheme perfectly, adding a touch of sophistication to the room.
As she ran her fingers over the smooth fabric, a smile played at the corners of her lips. She was probably appreciating the attention to detail that went into every aspect of the decor, I thought with satisfaction.
A plush couch, upholstered in luxurious velvet in a deep shade of burgundy, sat invitingly near the window, offering a cozy spot to relax and enjoy the view.
And as the afternoon sun cast a warm glow across the room, illuminating every corner with its golden light, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and contentment wash over me in this beautiful, tranquil space.
"Do you like it?" I asked, watching her closely. She was wearing one of my black, fury hoodies, and my favorite grey pants.
"It's beautiful", she replied, moving closer to where I laid.
I took her soft, dainty hands, pulling them to my lips. She looked ravishing. Her hair was held in a bun falling down her face, and her eyes shown brightly.
"Come here", I said, patting the space beside me. I was feeling stronger now, and most of my scars were already faded.
She narrowed her eyes, giving me a pout, but obliged.
Her eyes moved from my face to my body, exploring. I felt my throat go dry, I shrunken under her piercing gaze. What if she saw something she didn't fancy? She was an extremely beautiful and sexy she-wolf, who from the look of things possessed great powers she was not yet aware of. What if one day she recognized all this, and left me for someone else? I thought.
Maybe Uriel was right, Jovita deserved a better mate, not a weakling like me.
She looked at me, worry lacing her eyes.
"Did Uriel say you weren't enough for me?" She asked.
Oh shoot, I forgot the newest development. Jovita could hear my thoughts now. Talk about some thoughts privacy!
"It's nothing", I replied, pulling her to lie down with me, and snuggling my body against her.
"Why so clingy?" She asked.
"I'm not clingy".
I pulled her closer, taking her relishing scent. We stayed that way for some minutes, not saying anything, and lapsing into a comfortable silence. I could feel my desire building, my wolf was getting impatient.
"Jayden?" She asked, suddenly.
"Yea love".
"If I gave you a choice to have whatever you wanted, what would you choose?" She asked.
I wondered where that had come from.
"I'd choose to have you my sweet", I replied without thinking.
"I want you too Jayden", came low, lovely, desired laced voice, sending shivers down my spine.
