In a field located at the back of the Hall of Combat, two men were seen charging at each other with swords in hand.
One of them was a handsome young man and the other was a toothless old man. Both of them are none other than me and my teacher.
Currently, my teacher is teaching me combat techniques using a blunt sword. The reason why we seem to be attacking each other is because my teacher said there is no better teacher than experience.
He wants my body to be able to remember well every attack movement that I do and that is directed at me.
The goal is for my body to be able to respond when an attack occurs anytime and anywhere. Fortunately, my teacher and I are still in the blunt weapons stage. If I had leveled up and used sharp weapons in my daily training, maybe my wounds would not just end up as ordinary bruises.
It's been a week since my first day of training with my teacher, Charles, and I've noticed a few things. One of them is that every time he teaches me a combat technique, the attacks he makes always target my vital points. If there's an attack that doesn't target my vital points, either it's a feint or a combination of attacks to distract me and still end up targeting my vital points.
What annoys me is that even though I know that his attacks are feints or combination attacks to distract me, it is very difficult for me to ignore his attacks because each attack has a very strong threat of death.
"This is the end, Son!"
A vertical slash aimed at my head. A fatal attack meant to end the opponent's life.
My legs felt like they were frozen and hard to move. This was not because fear was swallowing my mind, but because the attack was so fast my body had difficulty following the swords movements. At this time, the only thing that could follow the movement of my teacher's attack was my eyes and mind.
The threat of death was so strong that it made me reflexively use the combination of two of the three basic spells I learned in the Hall of Combat. Acceleration and Coating.
First, I strengthened the durability of the blunt sword in my hand with a coating spell, then accelerated the movements of my hand to ward off my teacher's attack using an acceleration spell.
A loud buzzing sound was heard as our swords clashed. My teacher looked at me with a savage smile. However, because of his missing teeth, he didn't look scary at all.
After the attack ended, I jumped to put some distance between us. But my teacher didn't attack me immediately and instead asked me, "Why did you use spells when this lesson clearly only emphasizes pure body strength and reflexes?"
Hearing his question, I could only answer honestly.
"Teacher, your last attack contained a lot of killing intent. I could even see the shadow of death from your attack just now. My legs and hands couldn't keep up with the speed of your attack. So, I reflexively used a combination of acceleration and coating spell to block your last attack."
After Charles heard my explanation, he put his blunt sword on the sword rack and said that today's training was over.
Just as I was about to ask if I would be punished for using spells during the training, Charles had already pre-empted me by saying, "Starting tomorrow, your training level will increase. We will be using well-honed swords instead of blunt ones. Let's see if you can last longer against my attacks tomorrow."
Not waiting for my response, my teacher immediately walked away to enjoy his tea time.
On the other hand, seeing that it was still daytime, I decided to take a walk out of the Hall of Combat. It had been a week since I stayed in the Hall of Combat, and during this week, I had always locked myself up to study the three basic spells so that I could use them optimally and efficiently whenever needed aside from the physical training and combat training that I did every day.
Maybe because I haven't been seen for a week, when I entered the cafeteria, everyone looked at me and start whispering.
"Hey, isn't he the loser from the Arcane family? I thought he dropped out of the academy."
"A week ago, I even saw for myself that he vacated his room in the male dormitory of the Hall of Conjure."
"Then why is he still in the academy?"
After receiving physical and combat training from Charles, the five senses in my body have improved greatly. I can even hear their soft whispers in the distance clearly. Unconsciously, I smiled while thinking that my bitter training during this week were starting to bear fruit.
I even imagined what I would be like in the future if I continue to train like this. Could it be that I would become a spellcaster who holds a sword in his hand while other spellcasters hold grimoires or wands in their hands?
Sounds pretty cool and unique.
But all my imagination had to disappear after a girl's voice sounded clearly in my ears.
"Ace Arcane, you haven't been seen in class for a week. Professor Edward looks so angry whenever someone mention your name. you better go see him soon and apologize because if you don't, you will be expelled from the Hall of Conjure."
I turned my face towards the girl who had just spoken to me. The girl had an elegant appearance, beautiful blonde hair, and glasses that added to her charm. At first glance, this girl looked like a bookworm, but everyone in this academy knew how great an identity she had.
She is my class prefect when I was still a student at the Hall of Conjure. A spellcaster who mastered the four elements of nature in her first year studying at the Zephyr Magic Academy. One of the six elites of the Zephyr Magic Academy, Lichtalia Aurora.
