Chapter 10 - Meeting of The Elites

As I began my hellish training, at the same time Lichtalia walked into a room inside the tower holding a piece of paper. The paper was none other than a letter of agreement for a duel next month.

Using her status as one of the six elites, Lichtalia summoned all the elites to hold an emergency meeting in their meeting room.

When Lichtalia walked into the room, the five elites including Desmond were already sitting in their respective chairs.

The six elites are positions held only by students who are recognized as the greatest of the six halls of the magic division. They come from different class and years but they have balanced positions, marked by the location of their seats which are made in a circle with a round table in the middle of them.

A red-haired girl in a dazzling dress asked when she saw that the person who invited them to emergency meeting had arrived last.

"Lichtalia, what made you call an emergency meeting like this? I hope your reason isn't something trivial."

Lichtalia smiled slightly and replied, "I am not Teradein, Vivianne. Of course I have an important reason for calling this emergency meeting."

Handing the letter of agreement to Vivianne, Lichtalia said, "Read it."

Vivianne, without further ado, immediately took and read the letter of agreement that Lichtalia had just given her. Her relaxed expression slowly turned serious as she asked, "Are you serious, Lichtalia?"

Next to Vivianne, a slender man with glasses became curious and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Here, read it yourself." Vivianne answered briefly as she handed the letter of agreement to the man next to her.

After reading the contents of the letter carefully, the slender man with glasses looked at Lichtalia and Desmond in turn and said, "Oi, did both of you have a screw loose on your head? Whatever the result, it will have a big impact, especially on the six elites."

A long-haired man with a noble aura sitting opposite the slender man couldn't hold back his curiosity and asked, "Can you at least tell us the contents of the letter, Fang? Rilyco and I still don't know the gist of this conversation."

The short girl with sharp teeth who heard her name get mentioned smiled and said, "Hahaha, Fang, you got scolded by Reinhardt again. But what the noble guy said is true, you should share information before talking about something."

Fang, who heard Reinhardt and Rilyco's words, sighed and said, "Jeez, why do you always blame me for anything? Regarding the contents of this letter, this is a letter of agreement that discusses a duel that would be held next month and Lichtalia asks all the elites and the teachers of the academy to sign the letter and become witnesses to the final results of the duel."

"Asking all the elites and teacher to sign the agreement and witness the final result of a duel? For what?"

"What Reinhardt said makes sense, why does a duel require the signatures of many parties, especially six elites?" Rilyco asked with a confused expression.

Desmond, who had previously been silent and listening, finally spoke up, "That's because if she doesn't do it, then she won't be able to force me to duel."

Rilyco looked shocked to hear that. No, rather all the elites aside from the two involved in the duel were shocked when they found out about the duel.

But of all the elites, the one who seemed the most enthusiastic and positive was Rilyco, who asked Lichtalia and Desmond with unconcealed enthusiasm.

"Eh? Both of you want to duel? Why? Are you serious?"

Of course, both of them chose to ignore Rilyco because they knew that the girl's questions would never end.

"But why did you decide to duel with your identity as students at stake? Isn't this like a life and death battle? Does a duel need to go to this far?" Vivianne asked curiously.

Lichtalia answered yes without hesitation. An annoyed expression was visible on her face. Something that surprised the other four elites because they had always known that Lichtalia didn't care about anything other than spells.

Fang adjusted his glasses as he asked Desmond in a serious tone, "Desmond, what really happened between both of you? Why did Lichtalia propose such life and death duel?"

Fang's black pupils were seen turning red when he asked the question.

"Don't look at me like that, Senior Fang, I'm just helping the students who were abused by Lichtalia. That's all."

When those words came out of Desmond's mouth, the provoked Lichtalia immediately stood up and hit the table in front of her with a hard slam imbued with earth element spell.

The five other elites immediately turned their gazes to Lichtalia.

"You are saying that I abused my power over the students? You and that idiot, Teradein, are the ones who abused your power by taking advantage of public opinion who knows nothing about the truth."

"Calm down, Lichtalia." Said Reinhardt.

"You don't understand, Reinhardt. This zombie intentionally annulled the results of the duel between Ace Arcane and fifty spellcasters that ended in Ace's overwhelming victory. The reason was that Ace didn't use any spell when he fighting the spellcasters in the duel, and that was an insult to the sanctity of the duel. Don't you find that ridiculous? Furthermore, he and Teradein manipulated the clueless students to bring down my dignity as one of the six elites by saying that I wasn't being fair. Don't you find all of this to sound like a conspiracy to ruin my reputation?"

Rilyco then asked who Ace was and how he could defeat fifty spellcasters without using any spells?

Lichtalia replied that Ace was a student from the Hall of Combat. In addition, he used a spell that increased his movement speed during a duel but defeated fifty spellcasters with just punches and kicks, but it is likely that only she who has high level control of mana and high sensitivity over mana can feel and see the truth. Other students who do not have the same level of ability as Lichtalia will have difficulty seeing the truth in the duel and end up being manipulated by Desmond and Teradain.

The four elites looked serious upon hearing the information. Students from the Hall of Combat defeated fifty spellcasters with just punches and kicks? Besides, wasn't the Hall of Combat already been abandoned and just a part of history?

"Desmond, isn't all the drama that was created and resulted in the clash between the elites very uncalled for? Fifty against one and still losing, furthermore with just a punches and kicks? No matter how I look at it, they don't deserve to be protected especially by the six elites. Why not let them go and forget about this whole duel?"

Desmond firmly rejected Vivianne's request. According to him, the duel that took place was very unsportsmanlike. Especially since many spellcasters from the Hall of Summon had already lost before they could summon their familiars. It was a great insult to him and very unfair to the students who were expelled before showing their true abilities.

Seeing the endless debate, Reinhardt was the first to issue his decision.

He thought that if the duel continued it would damage the image of the six elites as a whole and he would not let that happen. Fang also had the same opinion and was also followed by Desmond who looked at Lichtalia with a provocative smile.

On the other hand, Vivianne supports Lichtalia by signing the letter of agreement. Vivianne can understand how Lichtalia feels right now and the injustice that happened to her. At the same time, Rilyco also supports Lichtalia for a simple reason. More chaos is more interesting and entertaining for her.
