Chapter 13 - Negotiation

Vivianne showed her etiquette by introduced herself even though Lichtalia had introduced her to me earlier.

"Hello, my name is Vivianne. I have heard that you defeated fifty students single-handedly in a duel. How can I help you?"

A cultured person is someone who also introduces himself when others have introduced themselves first, "Hello, my name is Ace. I want to buy a weapon and according to Class Prefect, you are the most appropriate person to approach."

"Um, Class Prefect?"

Lichtalia, who saw Vivianne's confused expression, immediately answered, "The person he meant was me. Ace used to be a student at the Hall of Conjure before leaving and becoming a student at the Hall of Combat. Because of my position as class prefect at the Hall of Conjure, until now Ace always calls me by that title."

"It's become a habit," I said with a little laugh.

Vivianne immediately led me to the next room where various weapons, tools, and equipments were neatly arranged in display cabinets and on the walls of the room.

"Everything here is my work. You can have a look first or maybe you already know what you want to buy?" She asked.

I could see various weapons ranging from weapons commonly used by spellcasters, such as grimoires and wands. To cold weapons and firearms, such as laser cannons. Of course, all of these weapons were made from special materials combined with mana. You could say that everything here falls into the category of a magic weapon.

Without further ado, I immediately told Vivianne what I was looking for.

"Do you have a sword here?"

She nodded and answered, "Sure, what kind of sword you are looking for?"

I began to explain what kind of sword I was looking for. First, it had to be a one-handed sword model, the type of sword I was most comfortable using. Second, it had to be sharp and have strong durability. Lastly, it had to have the ability to absorb and store mana from nature and be able to channel it to it its user.

If Vivianne had a sword like that, then it would be very helpful to cover my shortcomings so far, which was the very small mana capacity in my body.

Vivianne nodded and led me to a display case containing several types of swords. The girl took one and handed it to me.

"I named this sword, Red Reaper. The handle is made of a special material that makes the user feel cool when holding it. The blade is made of a special material called, Blood Metal. Not only is it sharp, but this sword can also absorb the opponent mana if the blade hits the opponent's body."

When I held it, I could feel that this sword was strong but not compatible for me. A sword that could only absorb mana if it hit the opponent's body, at first glance it sounded amazing but there were some very obvious flaws in my eyes.

First, this sword would only absorb mana if it hit the opponent's body. What if the one I fought was someone stronger or faster than me? What if, in battle, it was so hard for me to touch my enemy and could only clash swords? It didn't take long for me to fall with my low stock of mana. In short, this sword was suitable for fighting weaker ones or as a tool to make unexpected attacks. Dagger is better if it's for the latter.

The second reason is this sword was more suitable for assassin.

Returning the sword to Vivianne, I said that the sword did not meet my criteria. What I was looking for was a sword that could absorb mana from nature, not from the opponent's blood.

Vivianne seemed to click her tongue before saying that the sword that could absorb mana from nature and channel it to its user was made of a special material that was very rare and valuable. To be honest, so far she had only made one and that was because all the materials needed were special materials that were very rare and hard to get.

Unless it was something that had a comparable price, she would not sell the sword using regular currency no matter how much money it was.

When I felt that our negotiations were at a standstill, suddenly a student came in and approached Vivianne with a panicked face.

"It's bad, Senior Vivianne! One of the Armstrong brothers went out of control and got berserk in the test field. Several students were injured and several androids on duty were also smashed to pieces. You have to do something, Senior Vivianne!"

Lichtalia and I could feel a significant change in Vivianne's expression. Perhaps because of the extreme urgency of the situation, Vivianne immediately ran towards the field in question and left the two of us in the room.

"Do you know what they're talking about, Class Prefect?"

Lichtalia shook her head and said, "I don't know much about the activities of the Hall of Armament students. If Vivianne seems worried, it would be best for the two of us to go after her immediately to make sure everything is okay."

Following Lichtalia's wishes, the two of us immediately moved to chase Vivianne until we arrived at the test field.

Something unexpected happened in this place. In the middle of the test field, a giant robot seemed to go berserk and a strong electric current struck all over the test field. No one dared to approach the robot. Even Vivianne was seen frowning while thinking about how to approach the robot.

I walked over to Vivianne and asked, "What is the creature that was standing in the middle of the field?"

"It is one of the masterpieces of the Armstrong project that is currently being run by me and several other Hall of Armament students. A robot powered by natural elements and capable of using natural elemental powers beyond what ordinary spellcasters can produce and control. Its name is Mega Thunder Super Metal Armstrong!"

When Vivianne introduced the name of the robot figure, I lost my focus after being electrocuted several times. The sensation my body felt right now was the sensation that had been confusing me all this time. I unconsciously muttered, "So that's it, so the element I've been looking for is electricity? The reason why I didn't know about it until now is because I've never been electrocuted before."

Lichtalia, who saw me getting hit by electricity several times because I didn't have protective magic equipment like Vivianne nor protective spells like Lichtalia, asked worriedly, "Are you okay, Ace? Come closer to me so you don't get electrocuted again."

I smiled and laughed out loud. Vivianne, Lichtalia, and some other students looked at me with confused looks. They even thought that the electric current made me act like a maniac.

In contrast to their thoughts, I was currently thinking very rationally. As I stepped forward, I made an offer to Vivianne, "Vivianne, I want to make an offer. How about I stop that broken machine and in return you sell me the sword I want, what do you think?"
