Chapter 6 - One Against Fifty

Everyone looked at me with shocked eyes, including Lichtalia, who thought that I was too hasty in providing such a solution.

I, who saw them silent and staring at me as if they didn't believe what I had just said was forced to repeat my explanation.

"You don't have to look at me like an idiot. Your ears heard correctly. I offer a solution that is very beneficial to you. All of you can go together to fight me alone in the arena. The winner will stay in the academy while the loser must leave this academy, or maybe you are too afraid to fight me even though your numbers are numerous?"

Seeing them always being arrogant and superior to me, at least for once, I want to do the same thing to them. Is this what they call revenge? Many people like it. Turns out it tastes this good.

Some of them who couldn't stand my provocation finally said, "You want to challenge all of us alone? Are you worthy for that?"

From their attitude I already knew, they were not afraid of me but afraid of the figure next to me.

Due to the cheap provocation they had just uttered in response to my provocation, I again provoked their egos to accept my challenge.

"Disappointing, even after I gave you the grace to fight me alone together, you still don't dare to fight me. It seems like you're just a bunch of worthless losers."

Letting out a contemptuous laugh, I was about to turn around and leave. But it seemed like my provocation worked well because some of them had already blocked my path while saying, "Wait a minute!"

"What's wrong? Can't you see I'm busy and want to get out of here? I don't have time to deal with a bunch of losers like you."

I could see their veins bulging with emotion. In the end, they couldn't stand the harsh insults I threw at them and said, "You want to challenge all of us to the arena, right? We could do that, but we're afraid you'll ask someone to stop you from leaving the academy when you lost later. Who doesn't know that you're a member of the Arcane clan? Without a letter of agreement, how can this condition be enforced?"

I clapped my hands because I couldn't hold back the happy feeling in my heart. Looking at all of them, I held Lichtalia's hand beside me and said, "It would take too much time if we made a letter of agreement. Instead, Lichtalia will be the witness to the challenge I propose. She is one of the six elites of the Zephyr Magic Academy. Her words have the same weight as a piece of letter of agreement. Besides, there are still other people around here as witnesses. So, can we go to the arena now? I have something to do after this."

At that moment a shocking news began to spread throughout the academy area. News of the worst loser, Ace Arcane, challenging fifty spellcasters to a duel. Whoever loses must leave the academy and their duel is witnessed directly by one of the academy's elites, Lichtalia Aurora.

At the same time, on my way to the arena, Lichtalia who was next to me couldn't help but ask about my surprising actions.

"Ace, are you sure about this? Fighting fifty spellcaster alone, you will embarrass yourself if you end up miserable in the arena later. You still have a chance to withdraw your challenge before it's too late."

Seeing the worried expression on Lichtalia's face, I smiled slightly and answered her question just now.

"Class Prefect, you are a genius. In the first semester when we were just learning the basic, you had already mastered mana control and the four elements of nature perfectly. In the second semester, you were even promoted to one of the six elites. But it seems there are still many things you don't understand outside of magic."

Continuing my words, I said seriously, "You should know that I am not the type of person who licks my own spit or goes back on my own words. Besides, these people should be taught a little lesson so that they understand a god-like physique that can hold a lot of mana is nothing in the eyes of a true genius."

I still remember learning about combat spells a few days ago. At that time, my teacher, Charles, told me that no matter how great someone's spell is, as long as they can't use it, it will all be useless.

"The greater the distance and attack power of a spells, the longer the incantation that need to be uttered. Different from combat spells which has a short incantation to increase attack efficiency."

"In a real life-and-death battle, you must always attack the weak points of your opponent's body and make them helpless immediately. Don't give them a chance to recite a spell. Defeat them in one strike!"

Taking a deep breath, I finally arrived at a large room built using special materials to withstand any type of magical attack. This place was an arena, a room usually used by spellcasters to duel and hone their magical skills. This was my first time setting foot in this place. At this moment, I would test my true strength by fighting fifty spellcasters at once.

I went to measure how strong I am after a week of hard training against my own teacher.

Inside the arena, I saw a lot of people hanging around watching from audience seats. Most likely the news about my challenge had spread quickly and attracted a lot of people. Of course, I was sure they wanted to see me embarrass myself later.

Lichtalia also walked towards the audience seats while I walked straight towards the arena in the middle of the room. In the arena itself, fifty people had gathered and were looking at me with various expressions. Most of them looked impatient to immediately beat me with their strongest spell.

When both sides are standing in the arena, a screen starts counting down. The fight will start when the number on the screen changes to zero.

While they all prepared with grimoires and wands in their hands, I moved my legs and arms as a warm-up.

One of them, who was standing at the front, started to mock me because my behavior was not like that of a typical spellcaster.

Seeing that I just let out a cold smile.

Two minutes, I will beat them all in two minutes.

I've calculated everything. The amount of mana I have, the amount of mana consumption in battle, and the ideal completion time.

As the countdown reached three, I began reciting the spells incantation.

"Maximize Strength - Power-up!"

"Maximize Speed - Acceleration!"

In the eyes of ordinary people, there was no change in my body, but in the eyes of people who were sensitive to the movement of mana, they could see a red and yellow aura radiating from within my body.

When the countdown screen showing number zero, the fifty spellcasters immediately pointed their wands or hands toward where I was standing while starting to cast their strongest spell.

But when they just began to recite the spell's incantations, everyone suddenly fell silent, including the audience, who watched directly from the audience seats. That's because my body had disappeared in just a split second.

They started looking in different directions but none of them realized that I was standing right among them.

Moving both of my hands, I immediately attacked the nape of the neck of the four closest people and made them immediately fall unconscious. At that moment, they finally realized the person they were looking for was standing among them while showing a savage smile.
