Chapter 27 :Extortion
Kane, disguised as Ryker, smiled to himself as he thought about the recent events. One month ago, the Hero had revealed the secrets of the Book of Shadows to the public, sending shockwaves throughout the world. This was much sooner than expected, as the novel had predicted the revelation would occur next year. Now, the Soul Stone was being auctioned off, and Kane knew it would fetch a price far beyond his means. He only had forty thousand gold coins, a paltry sum compared to what the Soul Stone would likely cost.
He turned to Lord Arin, his expression confident. "Lord Arin, I know that Tia has merged with the Rank 6 Stone. And I know that the Soul Stone is about to be auctioned off. I want you to purchase it for me."
Arin's expression twisted in a mix of fear and anger, but Kane continued, his voice dripping with malice. "If I reveal the truth to the public, your family will be ruined. You know that, Lord Arin."
Arin's face contorted in defeat, and he nodded reluctantly. "Fine, I'll buy the Soul Stone for you. But once I give it to you, you must leave and never return."
Tia's eyes blazed with anger as she gazed at Kane, but she remained silent.
The auctioneer's voice echoed through the hall, "And now, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the first item... a rare gemstone, perfect for any collection!"
The bidding began, with several nobles and merchants vying for the gemstone. Kane watched with disinterest, his eyes fixed on Lord Arin.
Next, a magical artifact was brought out, and the bidding grew fierce. Kane's patience was wearing thin, but he knew he had to wait for the Soul Stone.
Finally, the auctioneer announced, "And now, ... the Legendary Soul Stone!"
The room fell silent, with all eyes fixed on the glowing stone. The bidding began, with a noble offering 100,000 gold coins.
"150,000!" shouted a merchant.
"200,000!" countered another noble.
The bidding continued, with the price soaring higher and higher. Kane's eyes locked onto Lord Arin, who was bidding on his behalf.
"500,000!" Arin shouted, his voice echoing through the hall.
"550,000!" countered a mysterious figure in the back.
Arin hesitated, then bid again. "600,000!"
The mysterious figure nodded, and the auctioneer slammed down his hammer. "Sold to Lord Arin for 600,000 gold coins!"
The room erupted in applause as Arin made his way to the front to collect the Soul Stone. Kane's eyes gleamed with excitement as he waited fo
r Arin to hand it over to him.
