Emma's heart raced as Jack grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the café. "What's happening?" she asked, struggling to keep up.
"That man at the door," Jack said, his eyes scanning the crowded streets. "He's one of them. We need to get out of here, now."
Emma didn't ask questions, just followed Jack as he led her through the winding streets. They finally stopped at a small apartment, where Jack quickly locked the door behind them.
"Who are 'they'?" Emma demanded, trying to catch her breath.
Jack hesitated, then pulled out a small bag. "We need to leave the city," he said. "Now."
As they packed, Emma's mind reeled with questions. Who was Jack, really? And what had he gotten her into?
Just as they were about to leave, Emma's phone buzzed. The mysterious voice was back.
"You'll never escape,'' it said.
