Emma's eyes locked on Jack's, her mind racing with questions. "Who are you, really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jack hesitated, then pulled her into a quiet alleyway. "My name is Jack, but I used to be someone else," he said, his eyes scanning the surrounding rooftops. "I was a cop, deep undercover in a criminal organization."
Emma's eyes widened. "What happened?"
Jack's jaw clenched. "I got too close to the truth. They found out who I was, and I had to run."
As they spoke, Emma realized that Jack's secrets were only the tip of the iceberg. There was more to his story, more to the danger that surrounded them.
Suddenly, Jack's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, his expression grim. "We need to move," he said, grabbing Emma's hand.
As they emerged from the alleyway, Emma saw a figure watching them from across the street. A figure who made her blood run cold.
