Emma's eyes locked on the man in the corner, her heart racing. "Jack, who is that?" she whispered.
Jack's gaze followed hers, his expression grim. "That's the man who's been chasing us. The one who wants me dead."
Emma's eyes widened as the man stood up, his eyes fixed on Jack. "You're a hard man to find, Jack," he sneered.
Jack's hand tightened around Emma's. "Let's get out of here," he whispered.
But it was too late. The man had already reached their table, his eyes blazing with anger. "You think you can hide from me?" he spat.
And then, in a flash of movement, he pulled out a gun. Emma's heart stopped as Jack pushed her to the floor, shielding her with his body.
But as she looked up, she saw something that made her blood run cold. The man's eyes, filled with a hatred that went far beyond a simple vendetta.
"Who are you?" Emma whispered, her voice barely audible.
The man's eyes locked on hers, his smile twisted. "I'm someone who knows the truth about Jack's past," he sneered.
