Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3:  Dungeon (2)

Lee Baek was equipped with fairly bulky armor and on his hands was a giant tower shield accompanied by a great sword. Which was basically a statement saying that he is Tanker.

On his waist, a row of very small daggers hung around like a belt. Like silver bells hanging around the strings of the town when there's a festival.

He was heavily equipped and despite his small physique he was able to carry them effortlessly.

His fairly average body in comparison to his heavy equipment and role was contradictory.

Something that's totally not suited to be a Tank.

That's because his original role in Raids isn't Tank but a Swordsman.

To be honest he would prefer to be a Swordsman like the previous class of this body but due to new skill [Immortality] it would be better for him to be a Tank.

Imagine an immortal dude tanking all the damage while at the same time capable of dealing damage with his great sword and floating daggers.

Its like the berserker Viking at Stamford Bridge who held off hundreds of warriors. But this time he won't die from being skewered, instead he will Tank everything the English will throw.

Optimally, this is the wisest course of action for Lee Baek.

Even though he would like to dance around the battlefield gracefully as a swordsman being a berserker standing like an absolute Iron Fortress would be better.

After all, it's easy to kill but harder to protect.

*******

As I was sizing up the Gate, I was approached by some man wearing a suit. He was wearing the exact same uniform as the gentleman who gave me my new hunter license.

He beelined towards me and once he reached me, did a little courteous bow.

"You're… Mr. Lee Baek Cheon, right?" He asked with a polite tone. And I replied.

"Yes."

"I see, welcome, and congratulations on your promotion."

"Why, thank you," I said with a smile.

"I heard from management that you were recently promoted to C-Rank hunter. Am I correct?" He asked with a bit of worry.

I was confused as to the reason why and answered.

"Yes, is there something wrong?"

"Ahh, well you see, some Hunters are, ummm, not pleased with having a rookie on their team," Then I looked at him.

He seemed to have misunderstood and quickly bowed his head.

"No! I'm by no means insinuating that you are a rookie

Hunter sir! It's just that… umm I.." he started stammering.

I had to intervene.

"Don't sweat it."

"Thank you, Hunter Sir."

"Anyways, please be careful. I heard from management that our Team has a nasty attitude."

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Very well then, Hunter Lee Baek, please follow me, your team is on this way and the briefing is about to start soon." He then guided me towards a makeshift room, not like a room-room but like a trailer room.

There I saw a variety of Hunters.

A girl wearing a witches hat and a baggy robe, and on her hand was a wooden staff with a gleaming red gem seating atop it.

Most probably she's a mage.

Besides her was a man, a swordsman to be correct, wearing a simple leather armor for mobility and a sword sitting on his lap. His arms were folded and his look was pretty smug.

Though, I don't like the look on his face, I'm just gonna ignore him. I'm here to get used to my new profession, not to socialize.

Moving on. There was also another swordsman, but this time the guy was wearing an aloft expression most likely from boredom.

He seems like the guy that wants to remain unbothered.

And to complete the team, there's also an archer. A magical archer to be precise. He was wearing a hood in accompaniment to his bow and arrow and made him look like a stereotypical archer class.

"Tsk. You're late." The smug swordsman said. Addressing the suit guy who fetched me.

"Ah, forgive me. Anyways, I want to welcome you all again. This is our new addition to the team assuming the Tank role. Please introduce yourself," He patted my shoulder and urged me.

I slightly stepped forward and introduced myself.

"I'm Lee Baek, I'm gonna be our Team's Tank, I just recently got promoted from C-Rank so I'm still unfamiliar with some things, so please take care of me," I said.

Then I heard a story slam on the table, the source of that outburst being the smug swordsman.

"Really? The fuck is wrong with you? Why would you put a rookie on our fucking team?" He stood up from his seat and grabbed the collar of the suit guy.

Poor guy, he's just doing his job and this guy is being an asshole.

"This is a professional raid! We can't have a rookie leeching off us and making mistakes!" He shook the guy, who was sweating bullets.

"Please, Hunter Byeol, please be understanding." The guy said while raising his arms in surrender.

"What do you mean by understanding!? This is a fuck up on your management why do I have to adjust to your fucking mistake?" He was really angry.

From what I can sense, the Manager is just a normal person in contrast to Hunter Byeol. Physically he can't resist, so he just let the guy bully him.

Ego. Extreme Arrogance.

From all of the manhwa I have read there's always one thing that separates the normal human and the gifted hunters aside from their special ability.

Its extreme arrogance and ego.

Hunters are gifted individuals with immense strength. Even the lowest ranked Hunter can beat up an extremely skilled soldier. Then imagine what a C-Rank veteran can do.

They are literally Goliaths in their eyes.

Due to this vast difference the Hunters saw themselves as a much higher class of being than normal humans, which caused them to inflate their ego.

This resulted in many situations where Hunters get aggressive at the normal human when they make the slightest bit of mistake.

Such as this one.

Even the hunters from the background, the cheerful mage with a bright smile, was ignoring the plea of their manager while the rest was just watching with a bored expression.

'Disgusting.' I said to myself.

Looking at the poor guy I was starting to feel pity. The guy was just doing his job and he was being vented at for the mistakes that doesn't even exist.

This is simply disgusting. I may not be a native of this world but I have a moral code that I do adhere, in thsi word and in my original world.

I stretched out my hands and was about to interfere when suddenly I felt a tingling sensation on the back of my neck.

As if a tiger was breathing down upon it.

I froze. My hands are drenching in sweat. My forehead dripped with fear. I broke out in cold sweat

And I was not the only one.

Everyone was the same. Even the aloft hunters, and most especially the Smug swordsman.

"Hunter Byeol. Put down the Raid Manager or else I will have to use force." Suddenly our attention was caught by a single voice.

The voice belonged to a handsome young man with slick orange hair, having only a single strand poking out and black eyes.

A High-ranking official in the Korean Hunters Association, wearing a black suit with his sunglasses. A face I'm too familiar with.

Woo Jinchul.

Chief Inspector of the Korean Hunter Association and an A-Rank Hunter.

His eyes gleamed with danger. Staring right at Hunter Byeol's soul.

One moment he was standing there and the next moment he was holding Hunter Byeol's neck.

Grasping it tight that his eyes were bloodshot.
