Chapter 9: What it means to be an Immortal (2)
My vision blurred, and I fought to stay conscious, gasping for breath. The world seemed distant, the sounds of battle muffled as my body went into shock.
Blood pulsed from the stump in sickening waves, the warm, sticky flow spilling velveting the lush ground.
Instinctively, my remaining hand went to the wound, trying to stop the bleeding.
Each heartbeat sent another wave of pain coursing through me, and I could feel the strength draining from my body.
My mind was a whirlwind of panic and pain, fighting to stay focused despite the overwhelming sensation of agony.
In the back of my mind, I knew that the healing magic of my immortality would eventually close the wound, but in that moment, all I could do was endure the excruciating pain and hope I could bear through the agony enough for it to take effect.
Thankfully I didn't have to wait for long. The effect of Immortality immediately kicked off and the stump on my arm grew.
Like a lizard gaining back its lost tail, a burst of flesh came out of that stump and molded itself into my arm. The process was both miraculous and grotesque, muscles knitting together, veins and tendons forming, and finally, skin enveloping the new limb.
I was furious. I was in pain.
The agony of the initial severance and the searing sensation of regrowth merged into a singular, overwhelming anger.
I grabbed my fallen arm and roared. Roared with all my might.
It was my most primal scream. A guttural call of anger.
His eyes widened, not with fear, but with a mixture of disbelief and rage.
He swung his massive axe at me again, but the adrenaline coursing through me made me faster. I took a giant step forward, dodging the blow, and with all my might, I kicked his legs, making him kneel to the ground.
Using my golden arm, I punched him right in the chest. The blow was powerful, but the wound was not deep enough to be fatal.
It was enough to inflict pain, to make him feel the raw force of my wrath. But that wasn't my goal.
I raised my severed arm, now just a weapon of flesh and bone, and bashed him right in the head. The impact made a sickening crunch, blood spurting from the point of contact.
I didn't stop. I repeatedly slammed my fallen arm into him, each blow driven by the rage and pain that fueled me.
His skull cracked under the relentless assault, blood and bone fragments splattering in all directions.
With each hit, the flesh of my fallen arm began to whittle down, blood spurting and bones sticking out.
The Goblin General's face became a pulp of green and red, his eyes rolling back in his head. His body convulsed with the force of each strike, and still, I didn't stop.
I couldn't stop. The fury within me demanded retribution.
Along the way I heard a muffled ring. But I ignored it and continued venting my anger.
That was the first time I felt such pain. I was so angry that some inferior creature inflicted that kind of agony on me that I bursted out and exploded like an active volcano.
While I was bashing the Goblin General's head my weapons which became the extension of myself continued on to slaughter those green bastards.
They moved with a life of their own, cutting down the green-skinned creatures until there were none left to fight. Eventually, they stopped moving. Not because I ran out of mana, but because I ran out of enemies.
When the adrenaline subsided, clarity returned to my world. Only then did I realize I was beating a corpse.
The Goblin General was no longer breathing, his head a bloody pulp beneath my relentless blows. I had been so caught up in my outburst that I had lost touch with reality.
This bastard was no longer breathing.
My teammates looked at me in horror, their faces pale and eyes wide with disbelief. The silence that followed my rampage was deafening.
The only sound was the ragged rhythm of my own breathing, echoing in the now-empty dungeon.
I dropped what remained of my severed arm, now little more than a bloodied club, and staggered back.
I walked towards my teammates but they flinched. I could even spot some dripping yellow liquid on our Mage's nether region.
When someone first lays eyes on a monster, the look of horror on their face is unmistakable and deeply disturbed.
Their eyes widen to an almost impossible degree, pupils dilating in terror.
Their mouths drop open, lips pulling back to reveal clenched teeth leaving their mouth agape in a silent scream.
Their skin pales, the blood draining from their face, giving it a ghostly, almost translucent appearance.
Sweat beads rapidly on their forehead, and a cold shiver visibly runs through their body, making their muscles tense and tremble uncontrollably.
Their breathing becomes shallow and rapid, chest heaving as if they're struggling to take in enough air.
In other words. They were in horror. They were looking at me as if I was scarier than the Goblin General and his army.
I agree with them. I didn't even know I was that scary until now.
I could not blame them. The image of me going berserk was probably trauma inducing for their weak minds.
I walked towards them, kicking some corpse to the side to clear out the way. As I was walking towards them they were flailing their legs to create distance between us.
They were so scared that even approaching them made them like that.
Even Hunter Byeol who was so arrogant was avoiding any eye contact with me. He was shivering on the corner hugging the Team Leader's arm.
I didn't know what to so with them.
How should I proceed forward?
Do I remain casual like earlier or do I change my attitude?
I don't know.
So I just walked away from them and lied down on one of the tree shades. Letting myself get my well deserve rest.

I didn't know at that time but this was the turning point where my life would completely changed.
I wasn't aware but during my fight I was secretly being filmed and broadcasted live on the internet by one of the Mining Team.
