Chapter 11: The World's Reaction
There are Five Top Guilds in Korea. All of them standing as the hegemon of the Korean Hunter landscape.
Respectively they are called:
The Hunters Guild
The White Tiger Guild
The Fiend Guild
The Fame Guild
And The Knights Guild.
Together they stand as the largest and most powerful guild in the entirety of Korea.
But even though the five of them are called the greatest, there is still a hierarchy among them. And atop of that pyramid is the Hunters Guild.
The Hunters Guild is the strongest and largest guild amongst the top five Korean guilds. It is active in the Seoul Metropolitan Area and is the only guild in Korea to have two S-Rank Hunters.
Led by Choi Jong-in an S-Rank Mage alongside Cha Hae-in also an S-rank Hunter.
Choi is the strongest mage-type hunter in Korea and is implied to rival Baek Yonhoo in strength.
He is the best fire user in Korea and is rumored to be able to destroy a tall building with a single spell. His flames are powerful enough to wipe out entire hordes of monsters and incinerate an entire group of earth giants in a matter of seconds.
Due to his immense strength he was called The Ultimate Hunter.
With such an esteemed position, it was evident there's nothing that could shake his psyche.
However, as of this moment his mouth was fully open, agape and in shock.
His eyes quivered as it was fully locked on his monitor.
"W-what a brutish way of combat…" Choi Jong-in muttered in disbelief as he watched the clip of Lee Baek fighting.
Even he flinched at the brutality Lee Baek was showing. His face twitched as he saw chunks of flesh scrape off from Lee Baek's fallen arm.
It was gruesome.
"The way he fights. He's like a scourge of god." He said. The way he fights is unsettling but the essence behind it is noble.
He fights to fulfill his role as a tank. As an Iron Fortress that embraces the weak and cold.
To give them a warm roof.
The internet called him many brutal names, he was given various epithet. Some pleasant and some unpleasant.
The Immortal Hunter
The Modern Osiris
The Scourge of God
The Iron Fortress
The Nightmare of Green Brutes
The Viking of Stamford Bridge
The Blood and Flesh of Gilgamesh
They were all cool nicknames. In fact even Choi Jong-in was feeling a bit jealous.
His nickname despite being called the Strongest Mage of Korea was generic in comparison to Lee Baeks.
This just shows how creative the internet can collectively be when they see something unique and interesting.
Choi Jong-in sighed. His breath trailing with tiredness.
He opened up his phone to see what's happening and saw everyone was in chaos.
Everyone was scouring Korea to find him, even his fellow Guild Masters from the Top Five Guilds were frantically gathering data about Lee Baek.
He clicked the button on his desk and after that his assistant entered the room.
"What is the current situation about him?" He asked.
"We have already compiled all the necessary data, Guild Master." The assistant promptly answered.
"So we have located his residence?" Choi Jong-in rubbed his chin and followed up.
"Yes, Guild Master."
"And what about the contract for the recruitment?" He said.
Upon seeing Lee Baek's performance he immediately ordered the Legal Management Team of the Hunters Guild to draft a contract to recruit Lee Baek.
It's the most absurd contract they have ever written, giving almost all the luxuries and perks only an S-rank Hunter could have.
"It's already drafted."
"Good. I'll go out myself to recruit him."
Suddenly as he was about to leave he was stopped on his track when his door suddenly burst open.
"Hey! Hands off. That Hunter is going to my guild" A muscular young man with spiky orange hair, orange eyes, pronounced canine teeth, and neatly trimmed sideburns barged in.
His teeth prowling and growling at Choi Jong-in.
Seeing the guy, Choi smiled in a sly way and said.
"White Tiger Guild Master. Why am I not surprised you're here?" Choi Jonh-in stood up from his seat and gestured at his assistant.
"You may leave us." The assistant bowed briefly while sweating bullets and ran out of the office.
"Baek Yoonho." He called.
"Choi Jong-in." Baek Yoonho replied.
"Don't go after this. He's mine." He warned as he slammed his hands on Choi Jong-in's table.
"And on what grounds do you have to dictate my action?" Choi said.
"Your guild already has two S-Rank. This guy is just C-rank, our guild needs him more than yours." Baek Yoonho reasoned.
"But that doesn't mean that we don't need more hands do we?" Choi Jong-in replied slyly.
"Don't push it, Choi Jong-in." The air around them boiled in fury. Their auras clash with each other in hostility.
They were already raising their mana, ready to release their most potent attack at any moment.
As they were about to clash, a voice disrupted them.
"Guild Masters, the Korean Hunter Association, have already made their move. The Chairman is talking to the Immortal as of this moment."
**********
Go Gunhee was a Korean S-Rank Hunter.
He was once easily the strongest hunter in Korea and he eventually became the Chairman of the Korean Hunters Association.
"You have become very famous Mr.Lee Baek." Before Lee Baek was a muscular old man with gray hair, greenish-gray eyes, and numerous scars on his face.
It was the Chairman.
For such an important person to personally make a move stands paramount of how important Lee Baek became overnight.
"It's bothersome." Lee Baek said with a tired tone.
"We've all been there. Fame comes at a cost." Go Gunhee chuckled.
"So what do you drink, Chairman? Coffee or tea?"
"Coffee would be lovely."
