Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Chapter 8: What it means to be an Immortal (1)

All the goblins turned their attention to me, ignoring my teammates and focusing solely on killing me.

"Uggo!" the Goblin General commanded, and the first row of goblins flooded towards me.

I raised my shield again, blocking the furious charge. With a powerful swing to the left, I shoved them aside, their small, weak bodies flying. Seizing their momentary disorientation, I followed up with a great swing, reaping their heads from their necks.

However, such a big maneuver came with a consequence. My side was left exposed, and the goblins took advantage of the opportunity.

A crude sword slipped past my defense and struck my ribs. Though it didn't pierce my thick armor, the blunt impact was still painful.

"Grrrr!" I grunted in pain. In revenge, I raised my Tower Shield high and slammed it down on the skull of the offending goblin. Its blood splattered on my armor, tainting it with a green mess.

My Immortality worked immediately, healing my fractured ribs in an instant. The pain disappeared.

Or so I thought. Suddenly, my back roared in agony as a trio of green-skinned goblins bashed their clubs against me.

"Graa!" I spun around to shake them off. When they were thrown off balance, I used my great sword to decapitate them. My injury at my back healed immediately.

Another goblin lunged at me, its jagged blade slashing across my right arm.

The wound was deep, but as quickly as the blood flowed, the cut began to close. I roared at him and swung my sword, cleaving the goblin in two.

However due to the blood that was spilled on my great swords handle, my sword slipped out of my hand.

But that was not a problem. I grabbed the nearest goblin besides me with my golden arm and crushed his head.

Then I bashed his corpse at another goblin splurtung a green fountain of blood.

I kicked one goblin with my feet and used my golden arm to pierce his chest as he was lying down the ground.

With a stomp I brutally crushed his head and move on to another.

As fast as I was killing them I was being flooded. When I kill one, two will replace him.

When I kill two, four will take their place. When I kill three, six will follow.

Slowly my armor was whittled down, eventually crumbling into fragments exposing my back.

The Goblin General snarled, sending another wave of attackers. They swarmed me, slashing and stabbing with their crude weapons.

Each strike landed with brutal force, but my wounds healed as fast as they were inflicted.

I lost blood as fast as I replenished them.

Ruler of Steel: Metal Manipulation

I used my skill on the great sword that slipped out of my hand and controlled it to cleave through the horde.

I let it act independent from my hands and let it do its own slaughter.

I was a whirlwind of steel and fury, my blade carving through goblin flesh.

A particularly large goblin managed to land a heavy blow to my shoulder, the sharp pain making me stagger.

Yet, within moments, the wound mended itself, my skin knitting back together. I retaliated with a downward slash, splitting the goblin from shoulder to hip.

Despite my rapid healing, the continuous assault was taking its toll. My movements grew more sluggish, each attack requiring more effort. But I couldn't stop.

I raised my shield again, blocking another onslaught. The goblins were relentless, but so was I.

A spear jabbed into my thigh, the sharp pain momentarily paralyzing my leg.

I gritted my teeth and yanked it out, my flesh closing around the wound as if it had never been there.

"URAAAAAA!!" I roared once again.

Then I opened up my system interface and pulled out all the weapons in my inventory.

Five spears, five swords, and five daggers flew around me.

The weapons whirled around me in a graceful dance, each blade and spear becoming an extension of my will. Practically becoming my limb.

The goblins hesitated for a moment, their eyes wide with fear and confusion. But the Goblin General barked another command, and they charged again.

I commanded the weapons to strike, and they obeyed with precision. Spears impaled goblins through their chests, swords cleaved through limbs, and daggers found their marks in throats and eyes.

The air was filled with the sound of metal slicing through flesh and the screams of dying goblins.

Still, they kept coming. I fought with every ounce of strength I had, my golden arm smashing through their ranks while my shield blocked their attacks.

The healing power of my immortality kept me going, but each healed wound left me feeling more drained.

A goblin leapt at me, claws extended. I caught it by the throat with my golden arm and squeezed until its neck snapped.

Another goblin tried to stab me from behind, but my spinning dagger intercepted the blow, slicing its hand clean off.

I was too focus on the goblin army that I didn't notice a giant shadow being casted near me. Only then did I realize that the Goblin General was beside me when I saw my right arm falling to the ground.

A sudden, searing pain exploded in my arm as the blade cut through flesh and bone.

The sensation was beyond anything I'd ever felt—a fiery, agonizing shock that radiated through my entire body. My mind struggled to process the loss.

For a moment, everything slowed down. I saw my arm fall away, a spray of blood following its descent. The pain was so intense it was almost numbing, a white-hot agony that blotted out all other thoughts.

I could feel the raw edges of the wound, nerves screaming in torment as they were severed.
