Chapter 42 - Chapter 42. Head

In a familiar house... One could see a girl on top of the pink bed. Clothes littered everywhere. The blanket was far cuddled at the corner of the back bed.

She rested her chin on her palms and her elbows were resting on a larger book. She moved her legs as she was engrossed in the book she was reading. A plate of what appeared like popcorns was on her right side.

One could not miss the drowsiness in her eyes and her messy hair. It seemed that she was taking the task at hand seriously. Maybe the book could have lost her attention until she reached the 200th page.

To say she was disappointed was an understatement but at the same time, she had gotten a new reason to read it.

"I am glad that you came this far. My condolences for making you read this useless 200 pages. If you got this far, it means you are worthy to learn the true history of Planet Earth.

"Earth could be described as the home planet of all creatures that exist in the quadrants. It should be known that we are all natives of Earth. We start with the history of Earth or maybe say our history..."

When she had read the starting paragraph's sentence, she almost closed the book but the next paragraph was enough to pique her interest towards the book. All this time, she had not been going to the faction.

This was because she could not allow her aunt to take the book she had invested herself in. She had ignored the hundred times her aunts had knocked at her door. Her aunt even had the key card but she could not open the safe room of the house.

Thus, even as her aunt came and knocked at the door, she just ignored her. Her aunt had given up the first week. She even tried telling her that she could continue reading it as long as she continued going to the faction but her answer was simple.

"I have read six months worth of knowledge thanks to you," she had said dismissively and never bothered to reply again. Now as the month was trickling down, even the pages she had been reading were.

She raised her right hand and shook the five remaining pages. She then dipped her hand into the popcorns and refocused her gaze back on the book. This last pages did not have much. They were even the thesaurus.

She yawned and stretched. It was time to get ready to go to the faction. She rolled from the side of the bed and went to the bathroom. Almost an hour later, she came out with her hair dried and a whitish pink towel wrapped around her body.

She had her hair tied at the back in a ponytail. Her eyes had now regained some life and he drowsiness had disappeared. She opened the wardrobe and removed some clothes.

About ten minutes later, she came out wearing a black short short and large white shirt that could be said to be oversized. It was only when she moved when one could see that she was wearing a black short. She then wore pink ankle socks.

She then went to the coach and picked a similar large red hooded sweater. In her hands was the familiar 10 centimeters thick book. She put on the hood such that it covered her close to her eyes.

She opened the backpack and inserted the large book. What was to be noted was that this was not a normal backpack. It was almost smaller than the large book but it fit in perfectly leaving more space.

These were spatial bags which had almost one cubic meter carrying capacity. It could carry hundreds of the same sized book but it would still maintain a normal weight. She then went to the door and put on the black slides.

She opened the door and did not bother to lock it. Why would she bother when the automatic function would lock it after five seconds. She headed to the elevator and pressed the button.

It should be noted that not all buildings had elevators. Some instead used teleportation. The only downside was that it was always energy consuming and it was expensive to put these teleportation stands in the buildings.

The door opened and she found that she was alone. She checked the time and she was even an hour early. Thirty minutes later, one could see her scanning her face and the gate to the faction opened.

One might wonder why the buildings never exceeded thirty floors but the answer was simple. There was never the need to. When space manipulation was possible, there was discovered that there were rocks which had these properties.

Building houses with these rocks was akin to creating a spatial storage. The rocks varied. The weak ones being that in the ratio of 1:100. Where 1 centmeter was equal to 1 meter. Thus it was even possible to see houses that could span a kilometer. Other rocks could even have better properties like 1:1000 where 1 centimeter could be equal to 10 meters.

She usually barely used the elevator mostly because it was usually crowded. She took the stairs and she went to her aunt's office. She knocked the door but a reply came telling her to wait. But she did not. She removed the book from the backpack holding it in her hand.

She opened the door and found that there was another guest in the room. She did not glance at the guest. She placed the book on the desk and she quickly turned back not daring to look at her aunt's eyes.

Her finger landed on the handle ready to open it but she was astonished when the door failed to open. She tried several times but it ended in failure. She turned to face her aunt with a smile but she met with a hard glare that made her look away.

"You have become more ignorant," her aunt said trying to be harsh but it all played out as a joke in her ears.

"Ma'am, I will be late for the first lesson if you keep me here for long. If you have nothing more I will be on my way," she said innocently.

She dared not call her aunt when there was an audience. Her aunt glared at her once again. She just took nothing seriously.

"Will you not apologize to the guest for you misconduct? You know that you could lose points for your actions..." Her aunt teased.

Mia was caught offguard. She had forgotten about points the past one month. Instead, she had been losing points all the times she was absent for classes. She wanted to scream but there was an audience. She removed her hood and looked at the guest who was staring at her with interest and an amused smile.

"Sorry for my misconduct, it will not happene again," she apologized with a soft tone that could make one's worries melt. If she apologized, it was impossible to hold the grudge anymore. She had her fingers pinching her ears as she apologized.

The man laughed at her apology which only made her blush more. She did not even know who this man was.

"No need for such an act. You are free to leave. I would also like to award you 200 points for making me laugh this early morning. I will surely have a nice day," the man said.

Mia was caught offguard. Who was this man who dared award points. Only the head of this branch could award points at a whim. Mia blushed even deep. Even as the watch on her wrist glowed accepting point, she had her hand entangled together in front not daring to look at anyone in the room.

Her blush started disappearing and was holding back her smile as if registering what it meant to receive this points. She pursed her lips in a thin line to hide her smile for she could still feel their gazes on her.

"Thank you," she said with a bow and opened the door leaving as fast as she could.

200 points may seem too little but they were not. It was even difficult to earn a single point than it was lose one. Earning points to beginners was as difficult as sweeping the ocean. It was impossible! Main reason because they could not do missions which were a requirment to earn a point.

She was excited because she knew that her lost points had been recovered. After one joined the faction, they were given 300 points. Missing a whole day made you lose 5 points. In the one month, she had lost 115 points.

Luckily for her now, she had gotten extra 85 points. She climbed the stairs with a happy smile on her lips that was enough to lighten up someone's mood. Why she usually liked to come early, was because there were usually very few who had arrived.

She knew her schedule. Everyday, she would have to take the daily morning workouts. She reached the tenth floor and went to her locker. She removed the workout clothes and went to get changed.

When she came out, there were already those who had arrived. She went to take a seat and wait for everyone to arrive and the time. She took a seat and the someone sat next to her.

She did not have to check to know who it was.

"Where have you been? I thought you were sick. Did anything happen?" Raven asked.

" I wonder if its in your place to ask that question because personally I think no one is qualified to ask that question," she spoke offhandedly.

" You don't have to be rude. I don't bite," Raven replied.

" Am I rude? I did not even realize it, sorry for my rudeness," she replied with the same tone.

" Did you have to rub it in? I don't think I have wronged you in any way. Just take me as friend then," Raven said.

" Okay," she replied with no change in her expression.

" What did you say?" He asked after cleaning his ears excitely.

" I said okay. Nice to meet you. Call me Mia," she said.

" Nice to meet you I hope you still remember my name," Raven spoke expectantly.

" Your name? What was it again? I must have forgotten all that time I have been away," she said after some thinking.
