Chapter 44 - Chapter 44. Base

After learning more about the system Marx embarked roasting the fish. He had Jerry sitting on his lap leaning on him. They sat in silence staring at the fire which burned in their eyes.

Now that he thought about it, he realized that this cabin was built by the ones he had been sent to investigte. Investigating was just a layman term. The true essence of this mission was simply to kill all those who had breached the base.

But the mission complete mark was getting the core tech that was left in this base. There were many things Marx did not know but soon he was going to find out.

One could wonder how Mia was able to remain silent with all the secret information she had. She had realized the reason why there were only two trips per year to Earth. It seemed that it was a top secret operation in guise of fetching wood and timber.

Even she would have falllen for it. It is also shocking that a book with all that secret information had slipped into the library. What if people managed to read it and learnt the secret the empire was trying to hide?

Luckily her aunt had made a call to retrieve the book. Mia was in the gym. But she was lost in thoughts. The information she got from the book... What it meant that there was an Ancient Base...

It talked about an Ancient Civilization. This civilization seemed to be more advanced yet it was more than 10,000 years before their civilization came into play. She had learned that a certain scientist that was goated as the king of tech had found a secret.

The secret was connected to this Ancient Civilization. The scientist had decoded some of their tech he found and he had received a breakthrough. That was how he had managed to discover methods of transmigration and conquering planets.

She learnt about the continents in the previous civilization and places like Ancient Egypt. This places seemed to carry more mystery than one could have expected but this scientist had decoded it and had the technology evolve.

In the last pages, the book talked about the Arctic. A place of continuous ice in the planet. In this place was the base of the Ancient Civilization. The Empire seemed to have discovered something about it.

For the past 20 years, they had been trying to decode its core tech. This was tech even their Empire had no way of breaking into for years, unless they decoded this core tech.

If they succeeded, their present technology would improve by leaps and bounds.

But the encryptions and languages seemed all foreign. To make matters worse, the core tech had a self destruct mechanism. If the encryptions decodations went wrong, this core tech could self destruct and their technology would experience a bottleneck like it had in the 20th century.

Mia realized just how her scope of this world view was narrow. If there was a civilization that existed thousands of years before them that was more than 100 times advanced than them, didn't that mean that they were thinking in the wrong way?

How could such a civilization just disappear? If it disappeared by ending, why leave cues that they had existed? The only explanation was that this civilization was the first to leave earth leaving not a single member of theirs in the planet.

If Mia came up to such a conclusion, how could the empire not have? The Emperor knew all this and much more. There were more than one rival they had out there and the most dangerous one was a civilization that existed before them.

The only way for his Empire to survive, he had to get their core tech and that was why he was sending more and more experts to research about it. For the survival of his thousand years of hardwork, he had to make sure that he decoded it.

If only he knew that there was an anomaly. If only he knew that a phoenix was being rebirthed from its ashes. If only he had not killed his daughter who tried to ruin his plans...

Few hours ago.

In the white expanse of snow covering icebergs, one could see what appeared a millitary camp. This camp only had a door thet was barely a meter tall. This door was sticking out for two meters.

At its entrance, there were two guards. Each dressed in black. One could mistake them for armed robbers. They were wearing black glasses. The guns hanging their waists were almost of the same structure as that of Marx.

The only difference was that they were black. There were five snowmobiles infront of them. From the distance, one couod hear the revving of engines. One from the present day could not mistake it. These were petroleum engines!

In the distance, there appeared three snowmobiles heading towards the guarded entrance. They took a few seconds before they too parked their snowmobiles next to the five that were already there.

These people were dressed heavily but one could not mistake the white coats that hang on their shoulder. Two were men but one of them was a lady. Immediately the guards saw them, they opened the doors and as the three passed them, they bowed.

"Keep up the good job," the lady spoke in a voice that could easily melt the worry and fear in their hearts. The two guards stood straight and saluted.

"Aye!" Maybe it was because of the tension of meeting the number 10, 11 and 12 scientists in the Empire. The number 10 being the lady.

These were people who could read your mind and had the ability to change your genetic structure with a single scan. The three bents as they entered. A series of stairs appeared that seemed to be infinite.

The five snowmobiles that were already here had the number 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 scientist. What shook them were not the top twenty but the number 10. To prove the operation was highly important, they had sent one of the top ten.

Even it was the number 10, no one dared to look down on her. They walked down the stairs for a few seconds but they got tired.

"Get into formation," the lady said and the two men stood behind her forming a triangle.

"Activate the Sequence Code 12."

She continued and they all tapped on the watches. Suddenly, a blue light engulfed them and they disappeared. In seconds, they appeared at a larger room.

It appeared like round hall. It spanned more than 50 meters tall and around 30 long. It was round all over. On the ground were over hundred computers. It was not okay to call them computers though. That was an insult.

There were five scientists in the room. After 20 years of trying, they had just recently managed to turn them on. But turning them on was one thing. The bright side was that these computers did not have security.

The downside being that these computers could not just be operated by anyone. They needed the DNA of the allocated user. Thus, all their efforts had hit a dead end. It was impossible to replicate DNA.

If even it was possible, these high level computers were not easy to cheat. These computers were very different. There was only a screen but had they not activated them, it was difficult to tell whether there was anything here.

Instead, the screens were projected from a cube less than a millimeter in every direction. This was to mean they had appeared just like dots until they had accidentally touched the core tech and the computers opened up.

A keyboard that was only having three buttons appeared. These buttons had no label on them. They had tried pressing them but unluckily for them, they just realized today that these keyboards were there to test the DNA.

What they did not know was what happened after the DNA was successfully accepted. What happened was that these computers were operated using the mind. Those of the Ancient Civilization had found a way to use Neuro Link technology to operate these computers.

It had reached a point where these neurolinks got integrated into the DNA of their people and was no longer the need for implanting them in their kids because they could be born with one.

This just showed how close they were to nature for it to accept their creation as part of the natural law. This was a civilization that had managed to keep the icebergs that were hiding their base from melting even when the rest of the ice melted.

This civilization was able to separate the large landmass and also plant fake evidence to lie to the carbon dating methods that were accessible during the 20th century when they were in great desire to learn of this civilization.

Just then , a blue light glowed in the middle and the three of the top ranked scientists appeared. When the five saw them, they sighed knowing that their work was going to be easier. The task was already difficult and unless they used all hands they had, they would never decode the secret behind the core tech.

One could wonder why not just remove the core tech and go study it in their best facilities but the answer was the self destruct mechanism. With their current technology, they would never manage to cheat by incubation.

That would just speed up the self destruct process. The five scientists went to the three and greeted them. They were all friends mostly having gone to the same research education institutes. They smiled and the lady asked about the situation.

One man scratched his head awkwardly as he explained that they had not made progress. The only way was for them to activate one of these computers. The lady nodded and too tried the buttons but there was nothing.

It was not like they had not tried to remove the cubes. It is just the it was impossible. Even the materials used in construction of the tables was never seen. None of their best materials could compare to it.

Just how advanced was this civilization. Non of these materials had been seen. But how could they have? The reason the technology usually hit a bottleneck?...
