He stood after a five minute rest and headed towards the door. He then reached the stairs and climbed to the rooftop. He saw the average buildings were about 50- storeyed.
He had to climb through crawling using the cables to the next building to the 40th floor. He went with the same pace and ten minutes later, he reached the other side.
He rested on his back for around five minutes and headed towards the stairs. To his surprise, he stood up and saw around ten monkeys sleeping.
He almost crawled back to the building he had come from. He stealthily tiptoed and opened the door. He locked it slowly making sure it made no sound. He then hurried towards the rooftop.
He decided to be careful of the rooms he chose. Probably the ones on the lower floors had more monkeys. He resorted not to enter one of those.
He also felt lucky he had not tried to jump for had he succeeded, he would have gotten caught. He was laying on his front looking below him.
There were even more monkeys on patrol these areas. It would have been impossible for him to bypass all of them on the ground.
He went forward and saw the building close to the one he was was the same height. Though the distance was 5 meters, he had a certain confidence that he would jump to the other building.
He went backwards and then rushed forward. He jumped and rolled when he reached the other building. He needed to cross the other side of the street but the distance was almost 30 meters.
He was not very confident that he could cross the gap. Luckily, the building was of the same floors as the one he was, 50- storeyed.
He was not sure if to take his chances or use the cables instead. He decided on using the cables. He finally crossed the other side. On this block, was the building the alpha monkey was residing.
From the map, he could tell that it was now four hundred meters away. The problem was that the building kept increasing in the number of floors as he approached the tallest building.
Luckily he did not have to cross to the other side. Also, the buildings on the same block had their cables connecting from rooftop to rooftop.
The distance between the buildings did not cross more than five meters. As he approached the taller buildings, he started encountering monkeys on the rooftops.
His progress was greatly impacted as he had to avoid them at all cost. He even had to knock some of them out. He knew that it would alert the alpha monkeys who had their minds connected.
The number of monkeys on the top floors kept rising and every building had monkeys in almost every room. He could see himself getting caught anytime now.
He was on a building with 80 floors and behind him were knocked out monkeys numbering more than twenty. He was seeing the top building fifty meters away.
His main advantage over the monkeys was that he had proper night vision compared to them. He was now at a point of no return and a single mistake could cost him his life.
On the map, he could see a stadium. It was very close to the alpha monkey's residence.
He lay on his front as he stared below him.
With the monkey's eyesight, they could barely see him from the ground. He had asked the system to scan for the monkeys in the vicinity but it had rejected his request.
It had called this part of training. He sighed and started climbing the next building. It was 86- storeyed only one floor less than the tallest building.
He did not climb on the roof immediately and he just peeked to see how many monkeys were on the roof. He was overjoyed when he saw that there was none.
They really were very confident in their security. It was not that they were even protecting themselves from any great harm. They even did not anticipate him coming at them.
He could see the building. With only one climb, he would be on the tallest building. The alpha's residence. He saw that it had no cable wires connecting it with the building he was on.
"What a head ache!" He cursed. There was no entry from above. Well, that could not stop him from from entering through the roof. The building was two meters away and only ten meters high.
The windows were even opened. Luckily for him, he saw a cable hanging on the wall. Just talk of perfect luck. He jumped and held on the cable wire.
He dangled on it as he took in deep breaths and started climbing his way up. He was climbing at a speed of one centimeter per second.
It took him a whole three minutes before he finally rolled on the rooftop. He had a content smile on his face as he stared at the sky.
The stars shone in his eyes and he saw the three brightest stars. He asked the system if they had names and it called them The Orion.
[The Orion are not just stars. You will find out soon enough. Its been so long]
Marx was wondering why the system was replying as if it was reminiscing. Was that even possible. Well, just as the system had explained, he was going to find out soon.
[Don't you think that you have succeeded very easily in infiltrating this base... The security her is supposed to be very tight]
He smiled at himself.
"You see even without your help, I have easily accomplished a difficult feat," he replied in his mind. Then the system replied with laughing emojis.
" What are those laughing heads you sometimes display for me?" His curiosity finally got the better over him.
[These are the very best masterpiece I have collected from the human communication. They have a name called emojis. After picking them up, they make communicating with user easy]
Marx nodded. He was now wondering how old the system was. The fact that he was user number 999 kept bugging him. Also, from its statement, he had picked up some clues that it had been around for a very long time.
His palms which had been red after he had reached the roof were now back to normal. He had also caught his breath and talked some meaning dialogue with the system.
He sat up and leaned his hands behind him. The breeze was very refreshing that night. He did not even feel like standing up. He was smiling warmly and forced his laziness away and stood up.
He stretched like someone who had just woken up. He turned and the next sight caused him to stumble backwards and cough. The system had displayed him laughing and crying emojis at the same time.
Infront of him was a meter wide path. On each side of the path were monkeys closely line up. They all were staring at him. The look that despised him for not noticing them for all that time he had been laying there.
He also recalled the system asking him how easy he had penetrated the base. He cursed at the system. Was it not the one that had refused to scan the monkeys?
The system displayed more laughing emojis. He did not need to think much to understand. He was being led towards the alpha.
He could not help but wonder how he had fallen into the alpha's trap. And here he thought he was being very discreet. He started matching forward.
The monkeys started following whenever he passed them there was the open door that had stairs on it. He bent and continued inside.
There were monkeys on each side of the stairs. He followed them and they led to the 80th floor. Almost 500 monkeys were now behind him.
There was an open door and that was where the last monkey was standing. He had felt like an important guest having been escorted by all those monkeys!
They even ensured his security! The room was very spacious and had several computer desktops on them. There was also a coach that was approximately two meters long.
There were wardrobes on the walls. There was also a fan on the roof and a chandelier. Marx was greeted by monkeys bigger than him.
Gorillas and chimpanzes now lined up for him as he approached the alpha. He was having a bad feeing about this. He heard the doors close behind him.
He looked up at the gorillas and saw their height almost twice his. The chimpanzees were even larger. On the coach was the alpha.
Next to it were two monkeys. He guessed that they were probably female. The system's information about the alpha monkey was spot on.
They really could breed 50,000 monkeys in their lifetime. There was a glass table where the monkey was placing its legs! Marx could not help but wonder what the world had turned into.
