Chapter 20 - Chapter 20. Identity

Marx had realized the greatest weaknessses of the giant spider. The major weakness was that all its stats were limited to the monkey's vision.

This explained why it stayed above the spider and why it maintained a distance between them. This would also explain why its stats would reduce after he got closer.

When he had gotten nearer, its accuracy had received a drop and when he was below it,it stopped fighting. That was what enabled Marx to stand below it without much fear.

The second main weakness he discovered was that the communication between the alpha and the monkeys was a one way channel.

This was to mean that only alpha could communication to them through their mind link but they would not communicate back the same way.

This also explained the drop in its stats. It was also because of this reason that Marx had easily penetrated into their base. Had it not been for that monkey, he would have been successful.

The reason being that the alpha would assume the loss in connection because they would not expect him to come back. With this thoughts in mind, he knew that he was currently in the alpha's blindspot.

Marx kept climbing knowing that the alpha had lost him. Being mysterious had its own benefits. When one was overly cautious, they tend to make silly mistake or assume the greatest threat.

Marx kept climbing but when he was halfway up, he felt the spider raise the leg and did the unthinkable. The half was broken off and Marx together with the monkeys were thrown away.

The monkeys disbanded and Marx was left alone 30 meters away from the spider. He watched as the monkeys rushed back and climbed on top of the spider and disappeared inside it.

Marx was shocked to see that the leg had regenerated as soon as it had been removed. He could only laugh at himself.

Though it was true that the monkeys could not communicate using the mind link, they coud do so using their mouths. He had been very naive thinking that the noises the monkeys were making were not them passing the information about his location to the alpha.

Marx this time did not roll and did not accept any damage. He skid on his feet backwards with a calm look on his face. He saw how quick it had regenerated and he had a serious look now.

From his approximation, he was sure that the stats of the spider would reduce even to less than 1 if he was on top of its body. But seeing how his first attempt had failed miserably, he knew that getting closer to it now was close impossible.

He knew that he would be in the backfoot if he decided to act by dodging alone. The alpha had also seen through his moves and he had also seen through its and now they were both changing their moves.

This time, under the belly of the spider appeared the cannon. Marx now knew it was time to use the cannon fodders. The cannon moved and pointed at Marx.

Marx never failed to be dazed. Just how the alpha made all this possible was out of this world. He was not sure how they acted perfectly and there were no casualties yet.

Marx knew how fast the cannon fired and he dodged even before the monkey was fired. It came rolling like a real explosive. It reached him in less than two seconds.

He looked at the monkey that had now turned into minced meat. He realized that the alpha had decided on destroying him at the cost of its comrades.

Comrades was not the term because one could not use their comrades as cannon fodders. He saw the gruesome scene and he felt some pity for the monkeys.

The reason he was here was because the system had told him that it would be useful. Now he had a new goal which was to save these monkeys from their slavery.

He was not supposed to have the luxury to think because the monkeys were being fired in pairs. This made it that he had to chose the direction to evade wisely.

He evaded the first one but the second one caught him offguard. It was fired immediately he showed the direction he was evading to. He had to roll on the ground or else he would take the full blunt of the attack.

He also knew that the alpha was giving him no chance and he rolled as a monkey exploded right where he had rolled to. He stood up and this time he felt his brain work on overdrive.

The alpha had thought few steps ahead and kept adopting with the changes he showed. It had even accurately gauged how far he could hop left or right.

This time, it fired 6 monkeys at the same time. One came right at him on his chest and another came below him such that he would not roll.

One came above him such that he would not jump. Two charged at the right and left. Then, there was one that was behind that one that came for his chest.

He could only commend the monkey for thinking this far ahead. He belittled himself for being seen through easily. But what could he do with the obvious moves he knew?

Well, that did not scare him though. Since monkeys were really taking such risks, he only had pity for them. If they came at him as a whole, he would surely be in the backfoot.

But it was too naive for the alpha to think that he would take a hit just because he had been dodging. Dodging was not a move and only relied on his speed, agility and reaction.

He had not wanted to dirty himself with monkey blood but now he had no choice. He wished more than nothing that he would get a weapon soon.

He clenched his fist and put all strength in it and punched the monkeys coming straight at him. The first monkey exploded and he was all covered with blood. This was why he had not taken this method.

The next monkey, he retracted his fist and punched at it with his left fist. The same happened but he still had the ugly look in his face. He stared at his bloody hand and the intestines dangling on his hands.

He looked behind to see the ones that had hit the ground and he could not help but want to throw up. He could have thrown up if he had eaten any food after he left home.

After he left this place, he was going to hunt for a meal in the forest. Again, he was distracted. Maybe he had ADHD. It was not normal how his mind would run off and atart thinking thinking about other things.

Especially now when his life was in danger and all he was thinking of was food. He thought that monkey was not going to use the cannon because he could not only dodge but also punch them.

Marx promised to make tha alpha pay for this. It had caused him trouble for two days nonstop. He charged at it. He had been 30 meters away and taking hits from the monkeys from that range was impossible.

He knew that the perfect distance for it to attack using its arms was when the distance was between 10-17 meters. He 'accidentally' looked at the countdown and he felt some content.

[00:01:23]

He was glad but he was not sure whether he was going to make it alive before the countdown clocked 0. He was starting to have a hard time already.

He had been evading the monkeys that were being fired at him. From above, one could see a bloody figure charging at a giant spider 30 meters high. It appeared nothing but suicide.

The cannonballs being fired at him seemed to be turning into bloody mess when they missed and hit the ground. What was shocking was that he always evaded them perfectly but the ones he could not, fell victim of his fists.

Marx had counted fifty dead monkeys now. Was it that the alpha did not care about the casualties? He was already having a bad feeling in his stomach. The urge to throw up.

It was not like he hadn't tried to but he had failed for nothing came out. He was missed by the money that had been fired at his manhood.

He had jumped and skipped it between his legs. So it was getting serious and now it was trying to mess with his identity! He angrily stood still and waited for the alpha to fire.

Maybe this way, he could increase his stats.

The first monkey came charging above him for the alpha had anticipated that he would jump. It had blocked all his evading routes but that was what he wanted.

He was going to let non of them die by the ground but by him.
