Marx watched the incoming monkeys. He wanted to test his kicks. The first that came at him was one meter above him. He did a front flip and hit it with the back of his foot right below the ankles.
He must have hit the head because it left him with a burning sensation. He glanced at the alpha and its horrified look. Immediately he landed, he then hit the one coming at him below like a ball sending it outside the stadium.
The same happened for the one on his left as he kicked them turning them into nothing but muddled flesh. This time, he timed the one coming at him on his chest.
He wanted to make sure that he did not kill it instantly. He perfectly timed the monkey coming at him. He turned around and faced behind him. He looked behind at the alpha and an evil glint flashed in his eyes.
He then did a bicycle kick and hit the monkey perfectly without killing it. It cut through the air still rolling aiming for the alpha. He fell on his back but the alpha had stopped sending him cannonballs rather say monkeyballs.
When they saw the monkeyball charging at the alpha without the monkey being dead, fear suddenly engulfed the monkeys once again. This could mean that he had the chance to spare them but he had chosen to kill them.
The alpha was in a trance as it almost forgot to dodge the incoming monkeyball. The alpha got back to its senses and leapt away. It had an angry look knowing that he had been toying with the lives of its race.
This time, the whole spider charged at him. It only needed two step to be standing ten meters away from Marx. This time, tentacles started appearing from the spider.
Like whips, they started whipping at him. Marx was unable to defend the over thirty whips that came at him. He had calculated that it was better taking one hit and staying from its range.
He used his arms to defend his chest as the whip hit him. He was sent gliding on his feet ten meters behind. He shook his arms as he cursed at the sky. But he did not have the luxury to slack off for the spider was already at him whipping those tentacles at him.
Marx was instantly in the backfoot. He was unable to dodge and he took another hit. This time he was unable to block though. He was sent flying sideways meters away.
He threw up a mouthfull of bood as he wiped it with the back of his hand. He surely felt like he had broken some ribs. His calculations was that with his stats, he could only dodge a consecutive of four tentacles and he would get hit by the fifth.
He stood up and the spider was already on him again. He glanced at the countdown and he knew he was going to have a hard time the last minute. Whether he would make it was unknown.
[00:00:45]
The stats he required most were his weakest. Even if they were all equal, he could not match up to the spider's stats. He was once again in a flurry of attacks as he only dodged the first four and took the fifth.
No matter how fast he stood, the spider would have already reached him before he stood up. He knew that running would exhaust him even faster.
He could feel that his stamina was going down. Only two hits and he would lose all ability to stand. He could feel that he would at most only dodge two hits.
The problems with the whips was not their speed but their numbers. The thirty whips were coming at blinding speed. The problem with his body was that his eyes could keep up with their movement perfectly but his body could not.
Even his mind could not calculate well because he would be sent flying before he could make a conclusion. He stood up and the spider was already 10 meters away.
He had tried to reduce the gap the firt time but the spider had gone backwards maintaining the 10 meter distance. The second time he had tried enlarging the gap but the monkey kept the distance equal.
He only had one option now. Endure. He ignored the pain searing through his bones as he charged forward. The first tentacle came at him aiming for his neck.
He was forced to bend back as it missed his nose by a hair's breadth. Another tentacle came at him from above aiming for his bent body at the chest.
Merx allowed himself to fall on his back as he rolled to the left. The tentacle slammed into the ground and Marx was shocked that those monkeys had not been turned into muddled flesh.
Right where he rolled came another tentacle wanting to slam him again. But the problem was that three tentacles were coming at him. Two came from his sides and one right on top.
He had to choose one that would not kill him but it was difficult. The one coming from the top was enough to rip his ribcage apart and the two coming sideways were enough to flatten him.
No matter what attack he chose, he would end up getting hit by all three of them. He had made a mistake using this method. But in that split second, a notification appeared.
[Strength- 1.1
Speed - 1.1
Agility- 0.2
Reaction- 0.2
Stamina- 0.1
Coordination- 0.2
Intelligence - 5]
Marx could not quite understand the cause of the sudden changes in his stats but there was another notification that followed that one.
[Increase in user's stats. User Marx can now access certain features of the suit.
Available features accessible; 1 feature.
>Halo Steps- allows user to step in the air five time a minute. Can be increased with increase in user's stats.
Marx do you wish to activate Halo Steps?]
These words appeared on the screen and were also voiced out. Talk about perfect timing. As if he had an option of not activating.
"Entropy, activate Halo Steps."
Marx who was laying on his back felt like had stepped on something. Looking at his right foot, he saw a blue glow under the sole of his shoe.
He then felt like he was stepping on a sturdy wall and he pushed himself backwards with all his might. Which he regretted instantly. He slid with his back on the ground and he certainly felt his shirt fall victim of friction.
His back could have fallen for the same treatment had he not reached the edge of the white lines. He knocked the four feet walls with his head which made a hole in the wall the size of his head.
He had a hard time pulling himself out of the wall. He finally got out but his hair was all messy with small sand size pebbles. He stood up and brushed them.
He did not have the chance to get angry for the system not telling him about the power of the halo steps. He could have cursed but the spider was already at him again.
But he had a new source of evading. Even if his stats were low, with the Halo Steps, he could atleast have an increase in his reaction, agility and speed.
With a newlyfound skill, he stomped his right foot on the ground. The sole glowed with a blue light and there was a slight vibration. He did not care about the number of times he could use it in a minute as long as he could use it for several times before the system came up with a finishing plan.
He was sprung into the air around fifty meters high. It was exhilarating that he was able to get that far. Now he understood why he had crushed into that wall that roughly.
He now had three more steps. And also the countdown was rushing down.
[00:00:19]
He then moved himself in the air such that he appeared like he was about to dive into the ground. He faced the alpha. He had realized that he did not always have to ask the system to activate Halo steps.
Just thinking about it was enough to activate it. He activated Halo Steps on both legs and and shot towards the alpha. The speed was too blinding such that if not for the system protecting his eyes, they could be blown out.
The wind slapped his face but he dared not close his eyes. He could already tell that the alpha had lost track of his movement with how immobile it stood.
He reached the alpha and the unexpected happened. A shield of monkeys appeared. Marx crashed into the monkeys and blew them away. They hit the ground and rolled several times.
But that was all the alpha required to have him trapped and started whipping him. He only had one more step to use but the countdown was in his favour though.
