Night time.
With the systems boost, things were clear and the darkness appeared dim. Marx had arrived the streets earlier and he had been waiting for night to approach.
He had broken into one of the buildings with computers by breaking the glass. He had stared at them for long. They just appeared like rectangular glasses that were supported by having them fixed on the wooden work tables.
His greatest wish was to one day sit behind a computer and operate it. He had spent the rest of the day studying them and also the clear rectangular objects below them.
He had asked the system what the object was and he had realized that it was called a keyboard. He went and asked what a keyboard was and he had his mouth rounded.
The laptop he had at home had one which had alphabetical letters on it. The system had told him that with his current knowledge there was nothing he could understand from them.
Even if he dissected them, he would end up learning nothing. He had gone further and tried to break the glasses but it turned out that the glass less than a centimeter wide was super hard.
In the times when all humans still lived on earth, these computers were especially invented due to the number of violent people.
People who got easily riled up and end up desyroying the technology in their hands. These computers could withstand a fall from the hundredth floor and the glass would not shatter or crack.
Thus these violent kind were free to punch at the computers whenever they felt like. That was just a second reason but the main reason was because messing with the tectonic plates had its own drawbacks.
There were usually violent earthquakes and these had caused too much destruction. Desperately, they miraculously managed to make sturdy buildings that would not collapse under the earthquakes.
The reasons the computers were made this way was because even though the buildings were now sturdy, once the earthquakes occurred, the computers would get shaken and fall off the tables.
Thus, the glass that was used in making the windows were not as strong as the computers. It had even turned out that there was usually a sport for breaking the computer's desktops.
Marx had tried to break the computers desktop but he realized that without the systems boost, it was impossible. He could not help but wonder just how they were made.
Soon, the sun set and darkness encrouched. The building he was had 50 floors and he was at the 30th. He was standing at the glass windows staring at the ground below him.
His mind telling him to jump. He zoomed his right fist and shattered the glass. He stared down below and he stepped back. He then came running and jumped.
Midair, he was at first frightened but it later turned into a thrilling experience. Maybe because he had already fallen with his life on the line that his fear was overcame.
It was thrilling as he landed on the tarmac causing a slight shake on the ground. He was sure had it not been the surdily modified road that he would have caused crack on it.
He just felt a slight pain in his legs and some crackling sound in his whole body. He felt his whole body refreshed. He stretched and the crackling he expected never came because it happened already.
He realized that he could probably fall from five kilometers and still not get a broken bone. He took his bike and rode towards the areas he had encountered the monkeys.
He kept cycling but he never seemed to encounter a single monkey. It took almost ten minutes before he encountered the first monkey.
He was shocked to see that it was just two monkeys. They kept moving from place to place. He then realized that they were on a patrol.
He sighed as he got off the bike. He then hid it between the garbage cans. He hated the Alpha monkey for being too intelligent for an animal.
He went stealthy and stood few meters away from them. He hid behind one of the garbage cans. He waited as the two monkeys moved frome side to side. He observed their moving patterns for a while.
Looking far ahead, the area appeared slightly cleaner. There were cable wires all over connecting a building to another. The glass windows had been broken a long time.
He could guess just how many monkeys fell victim. He saw his chance and flashed past them. He then hid behind a narrow alleyway meters away from the monkeys.
Unknown to him, his bag moved and opened.
Immediately he closed into their territory, he started hearing their chattering. He realized that walking on the ground was going to be a tough task for him.
He looked at one of the buildings and decided to climb to the roof. The problem was that monkeys who were patrolling this area numbered around twenty.
The building he chose was the only one he could see an opening. It was around thirty meter away from where he was standing.
Also if he remained on the same spot for long, the chances of getting caught were high. He observed the monkeys movement pattern and almost gave up.
They left no opening like two he had bypassed at the entrance. Well, he knew no matter how smart they were, they were still animals and he could distract them easily.
What he was looking for was a good distraction. Looking behind him, he saw many garbage cans. He then looked at how long the building was.
He then picked one garbage can and threw it towards the open. He threw around ten of them and then left few on the entrance of the alleyway.
At top speed, he ran round the building and appeared on the other side. Seeing all monkeys rush towards the direction he had thrown the cans, he saw his chance and ran into the building he had set eyes on.
He quickly ran towards the stairs and climbed his way up. He felt relieved when he saw no monkey coming at him. He finally reached the top of the thirty storey building.
He looked at the sky and he felt a strange feeling in his heart. Maybe it was anticipation but he knew that he was soon going yo reach the stars.
He steeled his mind to work harder and reach the stats of 2. What excited him most that he could leave with a space ship. Himself as the pilot!
He then lay down on his front and crawled towards the edge of the building. He peeked and saw the monkeys had resumed on their patrol.
A few of them were throwing the cans back to where the should be. Marx requested for the map. He looked at his current position and studied where the alpha monkey could probably be residing.
He knew apparently that it would choose for itself the highest building in the vicinity. He studied the map and finally saw the highest building.
It was five hundred meters away from his current location. He realized he had made a wrong choice with this building. It was the shortest in the vicinity..
Also, the building the alpha monkey resided was 87- storeyed. The next building to him was 40- storeyed. He did not have to think much in order to know the purpose of the cable wires.
They were connected from building to building. The ones connecting the one he was at was connected to the 30th floor of the 40- storeyed building.
An idea crossed him to try to jump from the rooftop of the building towards the open glass window that was thirty meters away. It seemed like a good idea.
The problem was that he never tested how far he could jump sideways or upwards. He decided to test it and he stepped back towards the opposite edge of the building.
He then charged at top speed. Bad idea!
"How strong are these cables though?" He thought. He had failed to ask the system to appraise it before he had started crawling on it.
He was 15 meters dangling under the cable. His legs closed tightly on it and his hand holding them tight. He looked below him and saw the monkeys still patrolling.
His mind only echoed with one sentence.
"Please don't look up..." He looked at the distance remaining and sighed. It had taken him a whole five minutes to reach the middle of the cable.
He was moving as carefully as possible so that the cables could not creak. His major worry was the cables breaking. He discarded the thoughts and continued crawling to the other side.
He sighed when he reached the other side and lay on his back staring at the roof.
" That was close," he thought. Not forgetting the fact it was tiring despite having the systems boost.
