Chapter 7 - The Last Item 1/2

The last item of the auction was presented, but as soon as everybody within the auction hall saw the item, there were confused whispers all around.

The item was revealed, and it looked like an ordinary stone. In fact, it didn't even look like a stone you could cut open and maybe expect something valuable inside. It looked more like an ordinary stone you would find anywhere.

"This item was donated by the respectable collector, Hun Miu Rock. The message he left along with this stone was: I studied rocks for years, stood on stones for decades, but not even a century of studying pebbles let me see the true nature off this bawi. Additionally, he donated a large amount of money to satisfy his conditions for auctioning this item. The first one was that the item would be the last item represented on the auction; the second was that the one buying this item needs to visit him within a year. After bidding for this item, the winner will receive the address of Sir Hun Miu Rock," the auctioneer announced.

Everyone was confused. Who was Hun Miu Rock? All of the participants were known collectors or magicians themselves. Firstly, how did they never hear about someone who could impose conditions even on the auction house? Secondly, this item he donated... It looked just like a normal rock; there was nothing special about it.

James was also flabbergasted. I feel nothing from this rock. This has to be a scam to hype up their item. He looked at Trash, who had always written down his answer already, but instead of the relaxed or, in James eyes, fake stupid look he always had in his face, it was replaced by a frown.

He isn't sure? He might have been fooled by the auctioneer and thought this was a magical item. This might be my chance. James quickly took his pen and wrote no magic.

G, still as relaxed as ever, of course, knew that this was indeed a scam. Some people might get fooled and bid too much, but most people should realize that this was just an ordinary stone. She saw Trash, and shortly after James wrote down their answer and said, Reveal your answers.

"No magic," "terrible." "What?!" G couldn't help but yell out surprised. Trash wrote terrible? But even I can't feel any magic from it. Does it mean trash can be wrong or...? While thinking about what just happened, James caught her expression and interrupted her thought process.

"Hahahaha, I was right! Now we are tied, right? What will you do if there is no winner?" he asked while smiling triumphantly.

"Shut up!" G just said and slapped him so hard that he flew to the ground. She turned to Trash and asked excitedly. "Exactly how terrible is this item?"

"I just absolutely hate it. I think it is so so so so so so much worse than anything else. I hate that thing," he said. "Perfect," G just answered and now was 100% sure. I need to buy this item.

Meanwhile, James got up confused. "Hey! Just admit that you are wrong instead of hitting me." Baam! He got hit unconscious by G. "Good now that this guy is out of the way, I can start bidding."

The auction was already ongoing, and a few clueless rich people bid their money as they believed the story. All the real magicians and experts, though, did not participate in the bidding.

The price for the item was at 5 million USD right now, and it looked like it wouldn't rise much higher.

"6 million!" G placed her bid, and most people gave up at that exact moment. Although someone bidding from the VIP area confirmed the value of the item, only high society people from the world of magic could reach a status high enough to become a VIP. Bidding against someone like that would only worsen the relationships within the circle of mages. It was not worth it.

G placed her bet, and knowing the personalities of all the rich yet powerless people, when they stepped in front of a mage thought the betting was done, until someone placed another bet.

"10 million," a deep voice sounded.

Everyone turned to the sound of the voice and soon realized who would be stupid enough to go against mages. "Good, bid for it. I want this rock for any price. Daddy said I could buy any item I want from this auction, and I want to get this rock, and I want to go on an adventure to meet this collector. Increase the price by two every time someone else bids!" It was a spoiled brat!

Someone from a rich family who never had to back down since everything was given to them. Someone who didn't learn any values and someone who thought everything was about money.

Some people in the crowd tried to tell her. "Young lady, maybe you shouldn't go against the person in the VIP area," they whispered. But the young girl was not detered in the slightest.

"Mages? We have enough serving in our family. I am not afraid of anybody, and I will win this auction with money," she said resolutly, looking at the VIP section. She knew that in terms of money, her daddy is number one.

"Are you sure?" suddenly G said, emerging into the open. "20 million," G said.

"40 million," the bodyguard answered without hesitation.

"Oh, you really want to play that game? Then I will entertain you, little brat. Let's see when you will quit. 100 million!" G shouted.

The bodyguard turned his head and looked at the girl. "Do it!" the girl said.

"200 million!"

"Hah. I will never back down. Is that all you got?" The girl asked. She never lost to anyone in terms of money, and that wouldn't change today.

"Ok, ok, I didn't know your daddy could just spend $200 million without blinking an eye. How about we get a little higher? 1 billion!" G said with a smile on her face.
