"One billion?" the crowd was in an uproar. Was this rock really worth 1 billion USD?
The girl was stunned as well, but then yelled to the bodyguard besides her. "Double it!"
"Miss," the bodyguard said. "We need to discuss with Lord Selldom."
"Hmpf. Daddy said I could win one item regardless of the price. I will get this rock no matter what it takes. Bet on it!" She continued yelling.
The bodyguard looked at her with some anger in his eyes. Doesn't she see that she is offending mages right now? He shook his head and called "Lord Selldom," while the girl still protested.
"Hello?" a man within a skyscraper in the US answered. He stood in front of a window on the highest floor of the building. He looked down below on the common people like a king looking at ants. His motto was "money is power," since even the high and mighty mages would work for him if he just offered enough cash.
After hearing the full story of a mage "fighting" with his beloved daughter, he yelled. "Of course you will buy it. Keep doubling until this freak has nothing left. I said my daughter could get what she wanted, so I will keep my promise. I will transfer 100 billion USD to your account right now. If that mage tries to use his might to steal the treasure, you don't need to worry. I recently found a new reliable mage who takes care of my daughter from behind the scenes. He will interween if things get rough for you."
After hanging up the call, he slammed his hand against the window. "Mage or not, money wins in the auction." He paused for a second before calling his secretary. "You, find out everything that happened in the auction house my daughter went to, especially the name of that propestoras mage who dared to compete with her."
"As you wish, my Lord," the secretary answered before leaving. This mage will not get away with offending my daughter.
Back in the auction house, the betting continued, and neither side was giving up. "2 billion!" "5 billion!" "10 billion!!" "15 billion!!" "30 billion!!" "50 billion!!" 100 billion!!! offered by the young miss."
"Hah mage. Are you done now? How does it feel to not have enough money?" The girl yelled, assured by her victory. She had spent the entire budget given to her by her father; it had to be enough to win the auction. After all, her daddy would never lose in terms of money.
"Little brat, I admit your father has some money, but I think I have even more. 200 billion." G calmly said.
The girl was stunned for a moment before turning to the bodyguard. "Hey, call Daddy again. We need more money!" she yelled.
"Sure, miss," the poor bodyguard repeated nervously. This amount of money was way too much to handle.
After telling the story to Lord Selldom again, the Lord slammed the table.
"Janna, come in right now!" he yelled to call his secretary. "How much liquidity do we have in total?" he asked.
"With all our bank accounts, we have currently 176 billion USD in cash," Janna answered.
"What? Can we get more right now?" he asked.
"We can sell company shares, but the money wouldn't be ready in time for the ongoing bidding," she answered.
"What? I don't have enough money. Firstly, you're fired! Get out. Christina, come in!" he yelled, and a new secretary arrived.
"Yes, my Lord?"
"Contact... no wait. I will contact the men who are protecting my daughter right now. I will not let this happen!" he said. "You just find info on the enemy."
As the secretary left, he slammed his hand on the desk once again, and the sign above the door, "Money above everything," fell down and broke.
Now he called the mage to get the item with any means necessary.
Back in the auction hall, the girl was stunned. Her dad didn't have enough money. He wanted to use force to get the item. Wasn't he the mightiest figure in this world because he had the most money? Why would he not have enough? And why would he use mages and force now? Wasn't money the most powerful currency? If her daddy used mages now that money didn't work, wouldn't that mean mages are the most powerful? A lot of questions manifested themselves in the young girls hearts.
Meanwhile, the auctioneer yelled, "Annnnd going third. Sold!!! To the VIP area. Congratulation on obtaining the last item on the auction!"
The entire crowd exploded with cheers and claps; they had never seen a bid like this.
Meanwhile, in the VIP room, suddenly a phone rang. G, who had just won the item, looked around and saw it was James phone ringing. She just shrugged and didn't bother picking it up. Although she just spent 200 billion USD, she didn't look like anything special had happened.
Trash, on the other hand, was quite curious about why everyone was cheering. "Master G, what just happened? Why is everyone so loud? And what is 200 billion?" he asked.
"I just bought this item you hate so much and spent a little bit of money on it. More than these ordinary people normally see," I hope you were right.
"No! Why would you buy this terrible thing?" Trash was shocked. He wanted to stay away from this rock.
"Don't worry, I will hold it for you. You don't need to get close to it," G said while looking slightly at the still-ringing mobile phone.
"Hey, disciple. You don't know smartphones yet, right?" she asked.
"I have no idea," Trash answered.
She threw the still-ringing phone to Trash. "Here, put your finger on this green light and then talk into the thing. Somewhere in the world, someone else will talk to you. Press this button as well, and I will be able to hear what they want." She was quite annoyed by the ringing phone and was hoping that with the way Trash talks, the other party calling would also get annoyed.
Trash pressed the two buttons as instructed and soon heard an angry voice on the other side of the line. "James, this is Lord Selldom."
