Chapter 16 - The Four Seasons Garden

"Now remember, son, that you need to train with the monks of the Dragon Temple.

Whenever you make it there they will train you in a very unique type of martial arts that will home the skills that you have inherited from me.

I should remind you, though, that they are quite harsh and difficult to please". A deep voice that somehow felt familiar to me even though all I could see was a shadowy figure.

I then woke up and got out of my bed as soon as the sound of a gong rang through my ears.

The next thing that I noticed as I got out of bed with how simple the room looked.

Against the rear left corner, that's where the bed was resting? It was very simple in design with just a wooden frame and a single mattress.

Right below the open window, there was this color of a wooden desk that had a stack of blank paper on it.

The final piece of furniture was a simple wooden dresser with three drawers in it.

This room gave me the mindset of a very simplistic lifestyle that monks in this world were supposed to live.

I put on the robes that were on top of the dresser, and as soon as I did I noticed that the white lines seemed to glow.

Then I stepped outside of my room and noticed that everyone else stood at an attention stance with their hands behind their back, and they each bound to master Jason as he approached them.

I vowed when it was my turn, and went back to my previous attention stance as soon as he moved on to the next person.

"Good to see that you are all punctual today.

We will be heading to The Garden of the Four Seasons to begin our training for the day."

As soon as Master Jason spoke, he walked to the side of the hallway that he came in, and everyone, one pair at a time,e, followed them in a double file.

When I looked at the temple around me I was amazed at the detail of the architecture.

The walls were made of a simplistic wood, but along the wall, I saw statues of a variety of different monks that were in a variety of different combat stances.

He's always been moderately lit, but despite that, I was only able to see about twelve feet in front of me at a time.

As soon as we started going up the stairs, I could tell that the lighting was different. The higher that we went the brighter it seemed to be

When we made it to the ceiling of the Temple I saw a massive oak tree that was surrounded by a pond.

Around this pond, I saw a variety of different plants that could not all grow at the same time, but somehow they did.

Then I noticed that the environment in each of the sections of this garden seemed to be dramatically different. Wow, on the side that we entered, it was cold, and there was snow on the ground. On the side that was in front of us, I could see green grass with trees about to bloom.

I was truly amazed at the fact that somehow they were able to give the environmental effect of all four seasons in a single garden. They must have used some form of environmental magic or KI to manipulate the area around the massive tree that was in the center of the burden. That would be the only way that they would have been able to display all four seasons in the same garden.

Master Jason then took a breath before clapping his hands and spoke a random phrase.

"The purity of Winter shall engulf this garden".

as soon as he did the entire garden shifted to a winter-like state. All of the trees became bears, and all of the ground was covered in snow. The lake even froze itself solid.

"I will be teaching you each how to give yourself a strong defensive protection barrier using your ice KI". Master Jason said as he sat down under the tree.

As soon as he spoke everyone lined up in two different rows, and they began to practice their breathing.

I did the same to follow everyone else's example since everyone else had been at his Temple longer than me.

"Good; I want you to know channels are here to create a barrier around your body.

Logan; I want you to be the person who tries to break all of their KI barriers because I know that you can already generate a moderate one yourself".

"Yes, master". I said as I bowed to him, and then made my way to the front of the group of students.

"Now I should not have to tell you this, but you cannot use your frost breath to break the barrier. You will only be able to use your KI-enhanced fists to break them.

I then examined everyone's barriers before beginning to break them.

Some of the students had moderate barriers; while most of them seemed to struggle and sweat intensely to maintain a simple barrier that almost anyone could have broken.

"Begin!"

I walked up to the first monk who seemed to be shaking as I approached him, and broke his barrier without even activating my KI.

All of those that had weak barriers were instantly broken, but the ones with moderate ones I had to enhance my fists with my KI to break them.

There was only one student who I was not able to break with my enhanced punch.

"That is enough". Master Jason said as it became clear that I was not able to break the barrier.

I bowed to the master and stood still waiting for his next command.

"Only Zero and Logan pass this test of durability, and the ability to break someone's durability.

After that, we spent the next few hours cycling between who was to break the barriers so that everyone had a chance to test the strength of their KI enhancement.

When it was done, no one was able to break my barrier, which told me that it was either due to the training I had received from my father before coming here or it was just the fact that I was not entirely human like most of these monks were.

When we finished the exercise the master took us to our rooms to wait for the meals that were being prepared for us.

As I heard someone knock at my door I instantly opened it, and then I saw a plate of fresh vegetables and beans. I was upset at the fact that there was no meat here, but I was assuming that these monks were vegetarian.

If I was to learn all that I could from these monks I had to embrace this lifestyle no matter how crazy it felt to me.

After I ate the food the master came to our Hall and told us that we had access to the archives for study for the remainder of the day.

The library was divided into sections depending on skill level, and as we entered the room we were given access to specific kinds of information depending on the skill level that our master gave us.

Master Jason had given me access to anything ranked advanced and under since he thought that I was advanced due to my use of frost breath in my entrance test.

I used the level of access that I was given to research things about the Dragonborn race and its traits. I did this because if I was going to survive in this world I would need to know as much as possible about my race and its capabilities.

Even though I had memories to access for information. It would not be wise for me to rely on things that I do not remember ever doing.

It took me almost all night to research the things that I needed, and I was able to get some sleep before the next day began.
