The fresh beam of light from the full moon shot through the window of the room I was staying in. As the memes of light made contact with my body, I could feel the energy from it nourishing my veins. I felt as though I had become immortal, and that nothing would be able to kill me.
I had spent the last few days making a name for myself as an adventurer, but the restrictions that came with this job were starting to eat at my very soul.
On one hand, I did not mind having the protection of others, on the other hand, I still believe that people have the right to be killed. That no one is above the law no matter their station.
This world was full of corruption even worse than Earth was. In this twisted new world that I have now become a member of the rich use their power to abuse other people in a variety of different ways.
I truly wanted to do everything I could to change this type of corruption in the world, but I may not be able to do this as an adventurer. If all of this twisted mentality continues I will need to find a different place of employment.
I would choose to be somewhere where I can do to the best of my ability to change this corrupt system.
In the last few days, I have been able to stack up seven levels in total.
The total amount of attribute points that I had available to me was twenty-one. I also had seven unspent skill points.
Most of the time I chose to work at night so that I could enhance my chances of survival with my racial buffs.
I chose to put eighteen of the points available to me in my lock stat to give it an even twenty. Then I put the last three points that I had into charisma giving me eight points under that stat.
Next, I spent one of my ability points to allow myself to have access to the skill counter. With this skill, I would be able to attack successfully at least once after a successful parry.
Then I went under the racial buffs and chose to get passive skill night buff tier two.
As soon as I got the skill I noticed that all of my stats shut up a little bit because my stats would be increased by eight percent at nighttime now.
After that, I only had two ability points left since upping my racial buff consumed three of them.
I chose to spend my last two ability points in the agility tree to give myself the ability to use stealth. It was not leveled up at all, but I would increase it over time.
Well, these abilities may not be super efficient right now; but I knew that they would be very helpful if I needed to embrace the lifestyle of an assassin.
I then got out of my bed and left the inn that I was currently staying in since I did not own any property yet, but that would be changing soon.
As I made my way out of the room I noticed that there were a variety of different male humans that kept harassing me.
"Come on, come over here with me. I am a good man I will be able to support you". A medium height bulky man said as he was swinging around his beer mug.
"I am good, and I do not need a man at all in my life". I said as I turned my head away from him and started to walk away towards the main door of the inn.
"What do you think? You're too good for him?". One of the other male humans said as he stood up from the same table.
"Let me put it in a way that you're primitive human minds will understand.
I am a member of the Moon Elf species. As a human, you are inferior to me and almost every way, and you cannot even begin to compete with me when it comes to the skills that you have in this world".
Both of them lunged at me out of anger after I spoke, but I simply deducted and stepped back to ensure that I would not be hit. I also chose to wait till the last possible second to execute my evasion maneuver so that I could also insult both of them.
As their bodies hit the floor everyone else in the bar area of the end started to laugh.
I then used this as a distraction to be able to escape from the building.
It only took me about 2 minutes to be able to walk from the street where the inn that I stayed at was located and make my way into the adventurer's guild building since the city was less active at night time.
The only race that I saw in The Adventurous Guild was the nocturnal species. They ranged from half-elves to simple and generic hobbits.
"So, I am assuming that you are here looking for some work, Alicia?". A very tall funny girl that was wearing a one-piece white dress said to me from behind the main counter.
"Yes; I am looking for a monster extermination request". I said to her as I leaned on the counter.
She turned around and pulled a pair of job requests off of the billboard in front of her.
"I have two of those kinds of quests available for someone of your level".
As I looked at the wording of the documents I noticed that the missions were almost too easy for someone like me. This was because there were no big game creatures available for me to hunt.
"Why are there no big creatures for me to fight?" l asked her while expressing to her that I wanted something slightly more challenging because a bigger game would mean a higher level.
"Alicia you know that we cannot allow solo adventurers to embark on such dangerous quests.
This is not as simple as clearing a dungeon. These creatures are some of the most deadly wild things that you will meet in this world".
I became upset because I knew that she was right, and the thought of working with someone else did not settle well with me. This was not because I loved working alone, but because I did not know who it was that I could trust in this world.
As a new arrival to this world, it would be almost too easy for someone to take advantage of me been very many unspeakable ways.
I chose to get over my fear because if I allowed it to consume me I would not be able to achieve my goals in this new life.
"All right then; are hey, I got to go. You have to be able to find me a party that could use a rogue like me?" I asked with a look of urgency across my face because I truly needed to make some money so that I could eventually get my property.
"Well, if I consider the fact that you prefer to do nocturnal missions, that will limit the number of teams that are available to you. Are you okay with that?".
"Yes; that would be fine".
After that, she went to a back room and came out with a book about the Red Adventurer's guild parties.
"Well; if I take into consideration the fact that you prefer to work nocturnally. The second filter will be parties that do not care about your adventure guild rank or your race.
There is only one party that meets that requirement. This team is called Dead Vipers".
While their name did not excite me, and it made me feel somewhat uneasy I decided to accept the offer since I didn't have any other choice if I wanted to get stronger.
"I will accept their opening".
"Good; they should be in before much longer. I just suggest that you wait for them over there". Said to me as she pointed to one of the empty tables that were against the left wall of some of the building.
It only took about two hours for them to show up.
When they had arrived in the building she came over and told me which group of adventures they were.
As I saw them I got nuts in my stomach as if I was back at school on Earth. The thought of meeting new people made it very difficult for me to move as I was engulfed in fear.
Would I be able to make a decent enough first impression with this group of adventures? Would they allow me to join their group, or what I have to change the way I did things to survive?
The fear began to envelop me and make it very hard for me to think of anything else, but if I was to survive in this world I needed to get over my fear.
