My lungs began to fill up with smoke as soon as I woke up from my rest.
I noticed that it was still nighttime and that the temple was starting to burn all around me. It became difficult to breathe despite being part dragon since the fire was consuming all of the oxygen in the air.
The door around my room was starting to catch flame before it froze solid, and Master Jason shattered it into a bunch of tiny pieces.
"Are you still alive Logan!?"
As he shattered the wall of ice he had created, I could feel a rush of fresh oxygen surround me, and as it made it into my veins, I felt relaxed and relieved.
"Yes, master; I am alive."
I followed him out of my room and noticed that there were a variety of dead bodies throughout the hallway.
These dead bodies were mostly different monks of the temple. Among the dead bodies, I noticed a few people who were clearly of the Dragonborn species.
The site of my species ended up sending shivers throughout my entire body.
Why was it that there were Dragonborn bodies all over the floor, and why were they in dragon form instead of their humanoid appearance?
"We have to leave the temple. The temple has fallen under attack, and we are not able to fight them back enough to be able to stay here any longer".
Is he joking with me? The fact that the Masters cannot eat these dragonborns is truly very worrisome. While I know that the dragonborn as a race is very powerful I do not understand how they would be able to stop so many masters.
The thought of what had occurred caused me to freeze in place out of dread and fear of what might be waiting for me at the other end of this hallway.
"Come on Logan; you need to snap out of it. We do not have time to panic". We have to go away from here and to the nearest town. When we get there I can explain more of what occurred to you".
Master Jason was right about the fact that panicking was not going to solve the current situation.
I pushed the fear deeper inside and continued down the hallway until I was in the training room.
As I approached the training room, I crouched down and hid behind the wall, trying to spot the people who were invading the temple without alerting them to my presence.
When I looked into the room I noticed that seven different monks in white robes were being forced into a kneeling position. They were being forced down by a group of dragonborns that had dark yellow which seemed to have Sparks of lightning coming out of them.
"Now will you all be smart and answer my questions? I have slaying all of your masters so why do you think that you could fight against me?
Now where is our brother?" Asked the only dragonborn that was standing in front of the novice monks.
This Dragonborn that was the leader was a lot larger than the other ones, and I also noticed that his scales were colored red. He also had a light amount of steam coming out of the cracks in his scales.
"We do not know of any brother of yours. Who is it that you are possibly looking for!?" He exclaimed out of terror as I saw the fire dragonborn approach him.
"Do not lie to me. I know that you are holding one of our Dragonborn brethren in this temple.
I can feel his presence around me. We all have a connection that binds us together as a species; so do not try to lie to me about this".
"Why do you want him, and how does this justify you invading our sacred temple? This is a place for people who are seeking sanctuary and discipline. We do not get involved in wars like a barbaric group of people".
The leader of the dragonborn Invaders then beat the man's head against the floor with a swift downward kick of his right leg.
Steam came off of the area where he had hit him on the head, and I started to see blood pouring out from the crack that was created.
"The reason for this invasion and the need to claim our brother is very simple. Our race is dominated by the leader of the orc species, Commander Zog".
The thought of what might happen to my new brother seemed to intensely frustrate me. So I chose to step out into the open and reveal myself because I would not be the reason that all of these passive monks would die.
As soon as I stepped into the open the leader walked away from the group of hostages and towards me.
"So our brother reveals himself to us".
"What is it that you want with me?" I asked him to keep his attention on me.
"As a member of the Dragonborn race, you have one of two decisions that are available to you at this time.
The first decision would be to join us in the conquest of the world that the orcs are planning.
The second option would be to get killed by me, and be remembered as the one dragonborn who revolted against Zog".
"If those are my two options at his current time; it is a very simple decision to make. I am going to fight you; these monks are my brothers. You are messed up for thinking that I would betray them in their time of need.
Then I noticed through my peripheral vision that Master Jason was now standing beside me.
"If you are going to battle him I have to stand with you.
As the last of the Masters of this temple, it is my responsibility to defend my students".
"It is messed up if you think that the two of you will be able to defeat me in battle. I am not your normal dragonborn. I have been training my body ever since I could first breathe flames, and I have achieved a level of mastery unlike anything you have ever seen". He said to us as he pulled out a longsword that had a white gem in its hilt.
"All right Logan; I need you to back me up while I take him on then direct combat".
When I heard him say that to me I could see the Ki generating from his breath that seemed to envelop him in a high level of KI armor with ice shards sticking out of it
As soon as he got finished preparing for the battle; I
noticed that the Is leader of the dragon-born Invaders almost instantly launched at his prey without showing any mercury in any of his swings.
The barrier that Master Jason had created around his body absorbed the force from the flurry of attacks without shattering.
When the attacks seemed to not work the Dragonborn ignored master Jason, and he lunged a quick flurry of attacks that were enhanced with his fire magic.
" if I cannot defeat you I will go after your students!" Master Jason was not able to react in time to save his students on his right side.
Despite this, I was able to use my frost breath to stop the flames from reaching the students that were in front of me.
The Dragonborn leader did not allow me to rest for very long; that was because he almost instantly cast a fire breath spell to burn the students that I was trying to protect before I could cast my ice breath again to cancel him out.
" I will leave this Temple and return in the future to find you, my brother.
It is the fate of our race to serve under Commander Zog. You will not be able to escape your destiny no matter how much you try". He said as he backed away, and blue to the sky above.
The other Dragonborn left the temple, and as soon as they left, I noticed that the only people who had survived this horrid invasion were myself and Master Jason.
" I cannot believe that the temple that changed my life, and where you were making your new life is no more.
As a result of this invasion, I will have to take your training on the road, and we will have to make a name for ourselves to make money to survive. I hope that you are ready for an ultimate change in your life?".
