Chapter 24 - A New Vow to Myself

As I made it onto the dungeon island I should sense a shift in the air that made me stop for a few seconds before moving forward.

What was this sensation that I was feeling as I made my way deeper into Dungeon Island? Was this a feeling of fear, or was it an unknown type of thrill?

"Come on Alicia! You need to get your head out of the clouds and over here with us before we leave you behind". Xenith yelled to me from a decent amount of distance.

As she spoke to me. I began to move forward and was no longer worried about this new rush of emotions that seemed to surround me.

"I am coming. Just keep your attention focused on what is in front of you". I said to her as I focused. My attention was on the area around me to ensure that I did not get attacked by any nearby wild creature.

"Come on; do you truly not believe in our skills to survive as a party?". I was asked by our party's blacksmith.

I was going to respond but before I could. I noticed that there was a group of gigantic bees flying towards us.

Our party Mage lifted his magical staff, and only a few seconds passed until I saw a few blades of wind being generated in front of it.

I saw the blades of wind rush towards the swarm of bees and knocked them down with one single swipe.

"I hope that you do not doubt us any longer. We are all gold-ranked adventurers or higher". The mage said to me as I saw him step on one of the dead bees' heads.

" If I am going to truly trust all of you with my life you will have to do more than just

kill a few giant bees to prove yourself".

I said this to them as I saw a group of three ogres in front of us.

They prepared a set of spells, but before they could finish casting their spell; I made contact with the enemy. I rushed over and attacked them by swinging my weapon at their ankles as I fashed by them evading their attacks with ease.

Alicia has achieved two more levels.

"Well, it seems that our newbie to the group can at least hold her own in a fight.

At least she is not as useless as the last person who was in this group with us". Xenith said to the group as she started to laugh.

After she spoke, I put the remainder of my attribute points into my anxiety. Stat, which gave me a total of twenty-one points in that category.

As soon as I did, I could feel the weight of my body lighten, and I was able to move around freely without any kind of restraints.

" Are you all ready to make your way through this dungeon?" Our party leader said to us with a large amount of excitement and urgency behind his voice.

After he spoke all of the other members of the team just became serious and moved into the dungeon that was in front of us.

As they walked past me. I felt that same type of emotion that I had felt when we got on the island. What was it that kept gnawing at me? If I did not find out what this was soon enough it might cost me my life.

The dungeon was at the bottom of a set of stairs, and I noticed that the area in front of me was an ancient catacomb where there could be traps or enemies around any corner.

Everyone from the party moved in unison until we reached a dead end where everything split into different directions.

"What do we do now?" Xenith asked as I saw her head turn both ways before completely turning herself around.

" What if I go down the pathway to the left? And you all go down the path to the right?" I asked everyone in the group.

"Are you sure that you can handle all of the monsters by yourself?" Xenith said to me as she turned right, and walked away from me.

I did not even have time to respond when I noticed that all of the other party members followed her down the opposing pathway.

When they were finally out of my line of sight, I noticed that the odd feeling that I kept having a horse in my body started to vanish. That told me that this feeling was of mistrust and doubt.

Since I was alone I knew that I could finally spend my two skill points without drawing any major attention to myself.

I chose to spend one of my available skill points on upping my stealth to the second tier. With my final skill point, I went through the dexterity skills and chose the skill of teir one duel welding

After I had these skills I got a second version of my blade and put it in my opposing hand. I had tried to use two items at once before, but as soon as I was equipped with weapons, my body became unbalanced.

This time, though, now that I had the duel weirding skill, I did not have the unbalance at all after equipping two weapons at once.

The hallway of the dungeon that I was walking through was quite narrow and almost completely dark which was going to make it quite difficult to see any approaching ambushes.

This hallway that I was walking down seemed to never end as if I was in some kind of infinite loop spell.

" How did I get trapped in some kind of loop spell?"

I thought back to what happened when we got into the dungeon, and I noticed that I remembered the Mage of our group murmuring something under his breath before I turned left.

He must have cast some kind of spell on me. Which meand that my suspicions of betraying me was most likely an accurate one.

I ran in the opposing direction, and made it back to the area of the dungeon where we split off so that I could meet up with them.

This time they were not going to take advantage of me. I went activated my second teir of stealth So that they could not notice me when I would ended up up in the same room of the dungeon as them.

As I made my way down the hallway , I noticed that there were a variety of dead body that belonged to goblins, bears, and skeletons against the walls.

When I made it to the end of the hallway I noticed that the party was fighting a two headed dragon.

I waited until the slaughtered the dragon before making my move. It took them about an hour or to defeat the beast.

" So do you think that she has figured out that we have tricked her?" Xenith asked as she delivered the finishing blow at the dragons stomach.

" She might be skilled at fighting, but I can tell that she does not have high enough intelligence or good enough resistance to magic to figure out what I did to her". The mage said.

" Did you all think that you could really fool me?" I asked them as I approached the blacksmith of the group while I was still in stealth.

" Wait; did you guys hear that?" The blacksmith of the party said as I close the distance between us as I lunged both of my blades at his throat.

" You are all fools if you think that you could possibly deceive me. Since I know that you will not survive this encounter I will tell you that I am not of this world. I am truthfully from my life on a planet called earth I have learned Many things including how untrustworthy people can be.

I use this confusion to attack each of them one at a time, and kill them with one strike a piece.

As their bodies were on the floor I could tell that I could no longer trust anyone in this life. This is going to be my turning point; I will no longer be a member of the adventure skilled since they do not give me rewards worthy of all of my efforts.

I made a decision that I am going to now officially be a member of the Underworld of this.

Human city by joining one of the assassin guilds. Is even though that would be quite a dark path; to me as long as I get to survive and make a living I would not care what means I would have to go through to achieve that.

I looted all of the valuable materials from the dungeon and went back to the ship that brought me to the island all alone with a new intense motivation that I would nver forget.
