Chapter 2 - on a familiar island

In the pitch darkness surrounding him on all sides, Kai felt his breath quicken and his heart pound. Confusion and dread completely gripped him. "Is this real? Have I truly been transported to the One Piece world?" Kai thought, trying to grasp the situation.

There was no light to see through, and he felt as if he were suspended in a void. He began to doubt everything, wondering if this was a dream or a hallucination caused by exhaustion. But these thoughts quickly vanished as his eyes adjusted to the dark, and he started to make out vague shapes moving around him.

Kai remembered reading about this feeling in novels and adventures, about transitioning between worlds and feeling lost at first. But he didn't expect it to be this realistic. Some ideas began to cross his mind about what he could do in the One Piece world. "If this is real, what can I do? How can I make the most of my presence here?"

Would he become a pirate? No, that's too common.

So, would he become a Yonko? No, that's also cliché.

Would he become an admiral? No, that's way too common as well.

So, what could he do here? Suddenly, a devilish idea struck him. Kai grinned wickedly and decided to use his unique talent in drawing to create a One Piece manga in the pirate world, making the Great Pirate Era even more chaotic.

It was an idea that no one would think of, but he remembered something. To achieve this dream, he needed to go back in time before the original One Piece manga events started. Then Kai shouted at the top of his lungs, "Genie, I want to go to the year 1496 of the Sea Calendar!"

Silence reigned for minutes, but Kai received no answer.

While lost in his thoughts, the darkness around him began to slowly fade, and he started to see a faint light on the horizon. He cautiously moved towards the light, and the closer he got, the clearer the scenes and sounds around him became. He realized he was on his way to a new place.

Suddenly, he found himself standing on the shore of a familiar island. His head began to ache severely, and he recovered memories he wasn't aware of. It was as if he was now living in a completely different body with memories that weren't his own, or that his world's memories had transferred here and merged with the memories of this character he had transitioned into.

The island was surrounded by clear blue waters, and palm trees filled the shore. "This is Ohara Island!" Kai exclaimed in surprise, recalling every detail of this island from the One Piece manga. The island was an important place in the story, full of secrets and knowledge.

But something was different. Kai noticed a change in his body. He looked at his hands and feet and found that his body's features had changed to match the style of the One Piece world. His hair had turned completely black, and his eyes were sharper and clearer. He felt like he had become part of this world in a way that couldn't be explained.

As he explored the island, he noticed that many of the landmarks from the manga were still there, but some things were different. Questions began to flood his mind: "What happened here? Has the island changed?"

Kai wandered around the island, trying to gather information and understand what was happening. He noticed that there were people living on the island, talking to each other and going about their daily activities. They seemed kind and welcoming, but there was a strange feeling of anxiety hovering over the place.

Kai approached a group of locals and started talking to them. "Hello, I'm Kai. Can I ask you some questions about this island?" Kai said, trying to be friendly.

One of the locals, an elderly man, answered kindly, "Welcome, Kai. Of course, you can ask whatever you want. We're here to help."

Kai began to ask his questions about the changes he had noticed and whether any unusual events had occurred recently. But the answers he received were vague and ambiguous. It seemed the locals were not fully aware of what was happening, or perhaps they were hiding something.

Kai decided to continue exploring the island on his own. There were many places he hadn't visited yet, and he felt there was a big secret hidden somewhere. He remembered that Ohara Island was home to scholars and ancient libraries, and perhaps there was something that could reveal the truth to him.

While exploring the island, he suddenly felt a strange sensation coming from his pocket, as if something was moving inside. He reached in and heard a scream. It was the voice of Arkan, who suddenly emerged. Kai was surprised and told him he didn't expect him to be transferred here as well.

Arkan smiled as he explained, "It seems I am connected to the lantern in more ways than I thought. Anyway, I decided to explore this world you were so eager to move to, hoping to find freedom and peace someday."

Kai smiled at Arkan, but he quickly remembered something: if he wanted to survive here, he needed to become strong. "Arkan, can you help me obtain one of the Devil Fruits that distinguish this world?"

Arkan didn't know anything about this power, but he told him, "I feel a strange attraction towards the other side of the shore. There might be something interesting there."

They quickly headed to the other side of the shore, hiding behind trees and rocks. One of the pirate ships had just docked there. Kai and Arkan heard the captain shouting at his crew, "Go down to this island and bring provisions and food in preparation for sailing!"

As everyone left the ship, Arkan told Kai that there was a strong force emanating from that ship, as if it were a fruit among the pirates' possessions. They decided to sneak onto the ship to explore. "Since they are pirates, stealing from them won't be a crime. Surely they also stole this thing."

Kai and Arkan stealthily sneaked onto the ship, avoiding any guards or crew members who might return at any moment. They wandered through the dark corridors and narrow passages, searching for the source of the strange power. The feeling grew stronger as they approached a certain room at the back of the ship.

They finally reached the door of a large room that seemed to be a storage or a place for keeping valuable things. Kai cautiously opened the door and entered. The place was filled with boxes and barrels, all covered in dust and cobwebs.

While searching through the boxes, Kai found a small ornate box. He carefully opened it and found inside a strange-looking fruit. The fruit glowed with unusual and exciting colors, and it emitted a very strong energy.

Kai took the fruit and looked at Arkan. "Is this a Devil Fruit?"

Arkan replied, "It seems to hold great power. This might be the fruit you were looking for."

Kai decided to take the fruit with him and leave the ship before the pirates returned. But as he was leaving the room, he heard footsteps approaching. One of the pirates had returned quickly.

Kai silently crept off the ship, plunging into the ice-cold water. Hours passed slowly as Kai navigated between the water's surface and breathing points cautiously, trying to remain unseen. The harsh coldness increased, penetrating his bones and freezing his limbs.

Kai realized that enduring this was no longer an option and that he had to get away from the ship before his body collapsed. He securely tied the box around his body with a rope and began swimming away, feeling the weight of the water pulling him towards the depths with every move.

As he struggled through the water, he noticed Arkan's absence since leaving the ship. He had disappeared as if he had never existed. Kai searched his pockets anxiously, looking for any trace of him but found nothing.

Then his eyes fell on the lantern still in his other pocket. The lantern emitted a faint glow, leading him to theorize that Arkan had returned to the lantern, as part of his mysterious world.
