Dawn was slowly approaching, and the faint rays of sunlight began to pierce through the small cottage window, casting pale golden glows on the wooden floor. Amidst this stillness, Kai was in a deep sleep, a sleep like the hibernation of an infant, after the long and exhausting journey that had led him from the island of Ohara to the Grand Line's gateway in the East Blue.
He suddenly awoke to the sound of crashing waves hitting the shore with force. He quickly got out of bed, feeling a strange vitality surging through him.
Today was finally the long-awaited day, the day his manga, drawn by his own hands, would see the light, and he would begin to realize his dream.
Kai's heart was pounding, not out of fear, but out of the joy that overwhelmed him. He had envisioned this day for weeks, even months, and now it had come.
He smiled to himself, feeling a rush of excitement coursing through his veins, as if his very blood was singing. There was no time for thinking or analysis. Today was the day of action, the day he would begin to achieve his grand dream.
Kai grabbed the chapter he had drawn and looked at it with eyes shining with pride. He knew this chapter was the beginning, the start of something much bigger than himself. He carefully placed it in his bag and headed toward the town market.
As he walked, thoughts began to swarm his head like an army of butterflies, fluttering incessantly until the pain in his skull grew intense. How would he get the people of Loguetown to notice his work? How would he spread the manga he had drawn?
But Kai was not the type to dwell on thoughts without action. He decided that the best way to start was to start now, without too much thinking. When he arrived at the market, chaos reigned. A mixture of sounds, smells, and colors blended together into a noisy canvas, where traders mixed with pirates and bandits.
The market was bustling with life, reflecting the essence of Loguetown. Here, in this unique place, you could find everything; from fresh fish to smuggled goods, from told stories to buried secrets.
Kai took his place in the market and rented a table from one of the vendors. He began displaying his "goods"—the manga he had drawn—on the table, waiting to catch someone's attention. But people walked by without paying much attention to what he was offering.
Some looked at his drawings with curiosity, then shook their heads and continued on their way. Gradually, frustration began to creep into Kai's heart. People here considered what he was offering as mere comic stories, something of no use to them.
Loguetown was famous for fishing and fish, and all its residents worked in this field. Even the pirates passing through were only preparing to enter the Grand Line. The town had no library, and its residents were not interested in reading at all.
The day passed quickly, and Kai didn't sell a single copy of his chapter. He sat on the chair behind his table, feeling frustration creeping into his heart. How could he make these people appreciate his work? Beside him, Arkan emerged from his lantern and sat on the ground, also pondering a solution to this problem. Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck Arkan.
He said to Kai, "Since people aren't interested in these things, it would be even better if you offered what you're doing for free. Once everyone likes it, they'll definitely come back and buy the other copies at any price you set."
The idea lit up Kai's mind like a torch in the dark, and without much thinking, he quickly agreed. He wasn't after money anyway; his primary goal was to gain readers for his work.
Kai returned to his simple cottage in the town, and another idea crept into his mind. Didn't Arkan mention that the system could help him with this? The system's screen reappeared before Kai's eyes.
Since he hadn't yet mastered how to control it, all he could do was give it some instructions on what could be done. Despite everything, he had an inner feeling that this step would be the first towards realizing his dream.
Kai's simple room in the cottage was filled with silence, except for a faint sound emanating from the system in front of him. A small screen glowed with blue light, displaying instructions written in clear but mysterious language, as if talking about something beyond the comprehension of ordinary humans.
"Kai, I will conduct a full scan of your body to detect any abilities that may help you complete your task. You will need to wait a little," the words appeared on the screen, glowing like lamps in the dark.
Kai had no idea what the system might find, but he knew he had no other choice but to wait. He sat there, sensing every moment, every beat of his heart, the rhythm accelerating with each passing second. It felt as if the air in the room had grown heavier, as if it was watching his fate slowly unfold. He felt a kind of fear mixed with curiosity, as if he were awaiting a final judgment.
Long moments passed before a faint sound emanated from the system again, followed by a new set of words appearing on the screen. But this time, the words carried a heavy weight on Kai's chest:
"The scan is complete. Your bodily system is now fully integrated. I have discovered your abilities, including the latent power to control clouds, stemming from the Devil Fruit you consumed. I will help you master this ability. By controlling the clouds, you can spread the manga chapters across the town in a unique and effective way."
Kai stared at the screen, his eyes wide with astonishment. He couldn't believe what he was reading. How could the system know all this about him? And how could the Devil Fruit he consumed be related to this strange plan? He wasn't sure whether the idea of controlling clouds to distribute the chapters made sense or not, but it seemed insanely unrealistic.
"Is this real?" Kai muttered softly, trying to grasp what had been said to him. But the system quickly responded, leaving no room for doubt:
"The abilities derived from the Devil Fruit can be controlled by your imagination, Kai. It's not as complicated as you think. Your imagination is the key."
Kai's eyes gleamed with a spark of hope amidst the madness of the idea. Despite its apparent absurdity, he felt tempted to try this strange plan. In this world full of oddities, nothing seemed impossible. Without thinking twice, he grabbed the chapter he had previously drawn, holding it in his hands as if it were a precious treasure.
"Come on, head out to the shore now, and look up at the sky," were the last words the system displayed on the screen before the lights dimmed and disappeared.
Kai rushed out of the cottage, his heart pounding as the morning chill crept into his body. The shore was nearby, and the waves crashed against the rocks with force, as if embodying the determination filling Kai's heart. He raised his eyes to the sky and saw the clouds slowly approaching, as if responding to his call.
"Just imagine..." the words echoed in his mind.
Kai closed his eyes, trying to conjure a clear image in his mind. He imagined the clouds forming under his command, moving as he willed, carrying the manga chapters to every corner of the town. He raised his hands towards the sky, feeling the power begin to flow through his body. It was as if he was extending invisible threads towards the clouds, pulling them towards him with his will.
The sailors and fishermen near the shore watched Kai in amazement. They seemed to be witnessing a scene of madness, a person who had lost his mind and begun to imagine impossible things. But suddenly, the looks of disdain turned into absolute astonishment.
A loud sound echoed in the sky, like thunder piercing the clouds. Their eyes widened as they saw the clouds gather unnaturally, starting to swirl and form as if under the control of an unseen hand. The clouds thickened, then began to descend upon the town in the form of a light mist, carried by the wind in all directions.
"Impossible..." one of the sailors whispered, unable to believe what he was seeing.
The manga chapters Kai had drawn began to slowly emerge amidst the clouds, scattering like leaves in the wind, reaching every corner of the town. They fell like rain, distributing themselves in every corner, every street. Cries of astonishment rose from all around, and people began to gather to witness this unique spectacle.
Kai slowly opened his eyes and saw what he had accomplished. He was sweating, his body exhausted from the intense concentration, but his face was illuminated with a smile. He had done it. This madness was working. The story he had drawn with his fingers had reached the people, thanks to a power he didn't even know he possessed.
He looked at Arkan, who was staring at him in amazement, and quietly said, "I think we have a new way to spread my stories. This is just the beginning."
