Venur, its a world inhabitated by many different races.
Among many races, the human race is the one with the largest population.
In this world, human civilization is differentiated into empires, more specifically, eight empires.
And acting as the connection between these empires is the capital city named Vapien.
Vapien is the center of every activity that takes place in human civilization; it also acts as a form of connection of the human race with other races.
A modern city built with every technology in human civilization. But the one thing that this city is most known for is the organization that was formed by the legendary eight great sages.
The organization was Verdice Venur Academy.
The number one academy in human civilization that nurtures its cadets to their full potential.
Every human, regardless of what their age, dreams to attend it.
Located right at the heart of the city, it was a huge mansion, several times bigger than the mansion of Enel Belur.
The individuals that attend this academy are considered possible pillars of the future.
'Except me.'
Standing by a window of the mansion, a young guy with dark hair thought as he looked outside the window and drank the juice from the glass he was holding.
'I'm no longer a human, so I'm not going to affiliate myself with human matters, and that is perfectly fine with me.'
The young guy, Aiden, thought as he raised his head and looked at the white moon.
It was nighttime.
Chatter Chatter
Behind Aiden, a lot of people of different ages were gathered wearing fancy dresses and talking to each other.
Turning his head, a rich smell of alcohol caught his nose as he frowned in disgust.
'When can I leave this party?' He thought as he looked around.
There were other people too who were standing at other windows or walls near him, so he didn't look strange.
All these people were cadets just like him.
'This last week was very hectic.' Aiden thought as he relaxed himself and walked towards a stand to refill the juice he was drinking.
As soon as the time of attending the academy came, he had left the city of wind.
After arriving here, he had to settle into his room in the dorm, take trial classes, and familiarize himself with the huge mansion.
Looking at the clock hanging on the wall, he squinted his eyes as he read it.
'Only five minutes left before I can leave.' He thought as he walked back to the window.
As he walked through the people, he got some strange looks, but being used to it by now, he simply ignored them and stood there.
There were a lot of people in the hall, everyone with their newly made friends or standing alone just like Aiden.
'I gotta say, I thought you would have friends in this new life of yours.'
A voice echoed in Aiden's head as he felt tired to even reply.
'I don't care for that...' He replied, but a smirk formed on Eden's face as he replied.
'You think I don't know you. You were hoping to find at least some friends.' He said as Aiden dropped his head in annoyance.
'I was not hoping; I only had thought about it for a split second. I'm perfectly fine with being alone. You and Leo are all I need.' Aiden said as Eden fell silent, not replying anymore.
'…This guy,' he thought, feeling worried as he could tell that what Aiden said was completely true.
'I have to make sure his mind changes.' Eden thought as he felt his motherly instinct kick in.
"Hahaha. Who do you think is going to take the first rank?"
"It's obviously the lady from the Lavender family."
"But the rumor has it that the guy from the Lenon family might steal it from her."
"That family?"
"…I wonder what rank I will get."
"Nobody cares, hahaha."
Loud chitchats like this often caught Aiden's ear as he lowered his head, staring at the ground.
'I wonder what rank I will get.' He thought as he wondered how strong the owner of this body was.
'From what you have learned about him till now, you must have a guess?' Eden said as Aiden remained silent for a bit before replying.
'From what I've learned back at the mansion and the way people are treating me here... I don't want to say it. I fear it may come true.' Aiden said as it was now Eden who went silent, trying to think of what he could say.
'Hey! Be positive; I don't think it will be that bad.' Eden replied.
Aiden didn't feel any better from his words, as he knew that Eden himself wasn't confident.
"It's about to be time!"
He heard a group talking as he looked at the clock, which was indicating that there were only five seconds left.
He frowned as he stared at the clock.
'Time sure flies when you don't want it to.' He thought as Eden nodded his head in agreement.
'5'
'4'
The people around him suddenly started to count down to zero as he felt embarrassed.
'2'
'1'
'0'
Whoosh
As soon as the countdown reached zero, a huge blue hologram appeared above them at the wall as all the eyes shot up to see the rankings.
Clack
Fuu
Walking out of the room, Aiden let out a breath of relief as he could finally leave the room and be alone.
'It went just the way I had predicted it to.' Aiden thought as he clenched his fist that had a blue paper in it.
'Don't worry… You, at least, d-didn't place last.' Eden said.
'…This is the same as being in the last place.' Aiden replied.
The blue paper on his hand had a number written on it in black words.
[2999]
Eden felt his mouth shaking from trying to reply at least anything.
'You c-ca…' Eden finally opened his mouth, trying to say something, but his words lost their way before even forming a proper sentence as Aiden remained silent.
'You don't need to comfort me on this. I already know what I'm going to do.' He replied with a serious tone as Eden closed his mouth and nodded his head.
Carrying the blue paper in his hand, Aiden walked through the long academy hallway with a destination on his mind.
The hallway was very empty, with only one or two cadets walking around beside him. It was the case, not because everyone was gathered in the big room for their ranking but because this hallway led to a place where not many cadets wanted to go at this time around.
Thwack
As he was walking through the hallway with only the destination in his mind, he collided with someone on the way as he lost his balance for a slight moment, barely saving himself from tripping to the ground.
"So you decided to actually come here."
As Aiden balanced himself, he heard a cold voice directed right at him as he raised his head and looked forward.
Three guys, whom he had never met before, were frowning at him as Aiden frowned.
"Who?" Aiden asked as the three of the guys took a moment to process his response as they became surprised by his response.
All three of them had black hair and black eyes. Looking at them, Aiden noticed some similarities between him and them, but he didn't think much of it.
"…So, the rumors about you losing your memories weren't just a fake thing you created to escape reality." The guy at the front said as he looked at Aiden with uncertainty.
"Or are you still acting with it?" He said as Aiden remained silent with a frown on his face, trying to make sense of the things he was saying.
"I don't know who you are." Aiden said with a cold voice as a grin formed on the guy at the front.
"I see. It's because of your rank. You are too ashamed about it, aren't you?" He said as the grin started to expand to a mocking smile. The two guys behind him also started to smile with a mocking vibe as Aiden started to feel annoyed by them.
"I don't know who you three are. But by the looks of it, you three seem to be unpleased by me." Aiden said with a cold voice as he looked at the three.
"…Hah! Imitating Uncle would get you nothing. You are still a weakling." The three were threatened, but it only lasted for a few seconds as they quickly regained their composure.
"You being a part of our family is a shame to us. Take it as advice and just drop out when we are giving you a chance." The guy at the front said as the puzzles on Aiden's head finally connected.
'Family? So they indeed are the people from this body owner's family.' Eden said as he put his hand on his chin.
'So, these are the guys that Louis was warning me about.' Aiden thought.
'Still… family? Is this what a family looks like?' Aiden thought as he looked at the three with disgust.
"I don't have any intention of dropping. If you don't like it, just stay the fuck away from me." He replied to the three, but the three started grinning again.
"We gave you a choice."
The guy at the front said as all three of them started approaching him.
Suddenly, both Aiden and Eden got a bad feeling about it as they frowned.
'These fuckers…'
