Chapter 60 - A story

From the moment I realized that I had taken over a body whose owner had died moments before, I was riddled with questions and guilt.

Who is this person?

Where did he come from?

How did he get to this point?

What happened?

And more, but the question that haunted me more than anything else was,

Did I kill him?

That time, the only one who I thought I could ask for the answers was the window, but then I realized that it was futile; the window was, as usual, useless.

Biju, who suddenly appeared in front of me, answered most of my questions as she even helped me plan out my future actions.

I heard a lot about the person, Aron Belur, and his father from her.

Hearing the little things she knew about them, I was skeptical.

But, once I met them, I found that what Biju told me was just the tip of the iceberg.

The relation between Aron and his father was worse than she explained.

As I explored the world through this skin, I noticed that everyone had a look when looking at me, or more specifically, Aron Belur.

They wore a look on their eyes while looking at me.

That look was familiar.

I noticed those looks; they were really familiar, more than anything could ever be.

A look given to something that didn't belong to a place; it was a look of disgust given to social outcasts.

I had experienced them my whole life.

The memories of those that had somehow stopped haunting me had started to resurface again because of them.

To think that the owner, Aron Belur, who was very rich and had everything provided to him without a question, also experienced the same thing as I did, I felt like I found a person who I could truly be friends with.

'So? What are you going to do now?'

Eden asked me one day when I talked to him about it.

'…I know Aron didn't die because of me. But I still feel guilty for dragging his dead body around. And I also know that there is no way for him to know what's going on, but to make myself feel less guilty, I'm going to do him a favor.'

'Oh ho. What favor?'

Eden asked, sounding mischievous. I could tell that he was wearing that smirk on his face with the way he sounded.

'By writing a story.'

'Story? What's the title of the story?'

He asked as he rubbed his hands.

'The story of how Aron Belur, a weakling outcast, trampled all who looked down on him.'

Snicker Snicker

All the snicker around the class became more annoying as Aiden raised his head and looked at Miss Lamp.

"Is the magic and mage subject not available for me?" He asked as he looked Miss Lamp straight in the eyes.

"Not at all. All the cadets are free to do whatever they want. It is merely my duty as your teacher to question your choices so that you are sure of what you're doing." She said as she tilted her head, looking at the cadets who were snickering.

"Do you want to get kicked out of the class?" She threatened them as their face, which was full of mocking snickers, became pale.

'She must be thinking that you, as the Aron Belur who has weak fortitude to magic and manas, have no future in this line of subject.' Eden said as Aiden frowned.

"If that's your concern, then there is no need for that. My decision to take the magic and mage class is fully out of my clear conscious." Aiden said, replying to Miss Lamp's response from earlier.

"Choosing subjects doesn't mean that you will be able to keep attending them and progress; the subjects you take will take terminal exams. That includes two tests from subject teachers and one final exam to proceed to the next semester, one for each of the subjects you take. Not only that, if you fail three or more times in a semester, you will be expelled."

Miss Lamp explained in a loud voice to let everyone hear her words as she looked at Aiden.

"I'm aware of that." Aiden said as he stayed adamant.

"…Ok. Then. As long as you are aware." Miss Lamp said as she looked at the blue card to carry out.

"Hmm. You have three subjects circled in blue. Are you hesitating over these three?" She asked as she looked at the subjects.

"Yes." Aiden nodded his head as he prepared himself to get critiqued by her again.

"…I see." Miss Lamp muttered as she looked at the three for a second and then at Aiden.

"Ok then. You have two hours." Miss Lamp said as she handed over the blue card to him and pointed towards the door.

"Huh? What do I do?" Aiden asked as he confusedly looked at the door.

'Is she kicking me out?' He thought as he felt his heart sink in.

"The three subjects that you are contemplating over, these three subjects should still be having their trial showcasing class. Visit them and decide on your final subject; if you don't hand over your blue card with the three subjects within two hours, you are expelled." She said as Aiden nodded his head, feeling relieved, and quickly walked out of the class.

"Jayad."

Picking up another card, Miss Lamp called out another cadet and proceeded her class.
