Heishan Fang was a little nervous because he knew that if he lost today he would have to wait another year for this chance. His older brother Chering Fang was a top contender for the Young Saint position of the Fang Clan. He was already a core disciple and if his younger brother became an elite disciple it would increase his chances of becoming the Young Saint. Chering Fang was also among the spectators and Heishan also knew this, that's why he was going to give his all today.
Ajax stepped on the arena determined to win. He didn't have incredibly strong parents who could nurture him without holding back not was he insanely talented. He reached where he was today by solely with his own hard work. Ajax used two swords and was dual wielder who with his wind meridians preferred speed over power.
The two opponents looked at each other waiting for the match to start. The moment the referee gave the command Ajax utilising his flashing wind art disappeared and appeared in front of Heishan with blitzing speed but Heishan was no slouch either reacting just in time to stop Ajax.
Heishan with his crouching tiger art and fire meridian possed strength that would destroy other of similar cultivation but it was Ajax he was facing. No matter how Heishan tried he just couldn't hit Ajax. After every move Heishan made Ajax would counterattack. The damage wasn't huge but overtime Heishan was starting to feel the toll. Ajax with his unrelenting fast paced attacks didn't give him time to catch his breath.
Heishan decided he couldn't let this continue otherwise he would loose. Rotating his meridians to the limit he unleashed his best move which covered the whole arena.
The Blazing Tiger Breath. Though powerful it left him vulnerable after use but having no choice he unleashed this attack. The huge fire garnered the attention of a lot of people. It wasn't easy for fourth stage meridian cultivators to use such destructive attacks.
The attack succeeded, Ajax couldn't dodge this. Such thoughts occured to Heishan but just then the flames parted ways and a sword came flying impaling Heishan in the stomach. A half burnt figure walked out of the fire with charred skin.
The audience gasped and even the teachers were surprised.
At the decisive moment instead of rotating his wind meridians to the limit and protecting himself Ajax gathered half of his remaining strength and threw one of his swords towards Heishan leaving only half of his strength to defend himself from the flames.
Such crazed determination left even the elite disciples stunned. It had to be known that the inner disciples were still teenagers. No matter how advanced a cultivator was compared to a mortal they were still in their teens.
Why take such pain when he could just wait another year to be selected. Such thoughts were going through the heads of most of the inner disciples but the teachers were happy with the result. Afterall many talents were born every day but it was cultivators with this kind of willpower that truly made it far on their journey.
Ajax felt one thing at the moment and it was pain. He wanted nothing more than to scream and get treatment but he knew the fight wasn't over yet. He made his way towards his opponent dragging his remaining sword on the floor looking like the a devil comming out burning hell.
Such a scene made the audience shiver.
As for Heishan he couldn't even think straight giving up the moment Ajax got close.
The fight is over Ajax Ma wins. Hearing these words Ajax who was standing on sheer willpower passed out.
The fight was quite impactful as Ajax had won the favour of various teachers and even a few vice head's decided to keep on eye on his future performance.
