Xander looked so confident with a business smile but only him knew what went on in his head. He was scared and was trying not to overthink what could go wrong as he put on a brave mask that Max made him perfect.
"Thanks, you can all have your seat" he said and all sat down obediently, not voicing out any of their thoughts. His father sat on the spare chair beside him, which was a bit away from the table.
"I know this is coming as a shock to many of you but I would for us to put our differences aside any work together, anyone who disagree? " Xander said and everyone shook their head. Cameron smiled to himself as he saw in his son, he knew his mother would be proud, if only she endured a little more.
"In the absent of that, let's move to this month report" the meeting went on like that, every director with their own report on the company they handle. He didn't need to read thoroughly through the reports since it was the same material he read when he was recovery.
He plans to get them under control but for now he would turn a blind eyes at their greediness.
"If that's all I would take my leave " Xander said as he stood up and left the room, he was followed by his father and Max . The board of directors stood up and bowed in respect.
"That was good right? " Xander asked once the elevator closed in on three of them.
"You did alright son, but don't let their fierce look intimidate you" Cameron answered and squeezed his shoulder.
The elevator dinged open and his father walked out of it. Xander turned to Max as he secretly asked for validation since he spent longer time with him than his father, his word means a lot but pride made it hard for him to put it in words.
Max understood him, he nodded and smiled at him courageously. He led Xander to the entrance, where the sea of reporters where facing the direction of Cameron who had gotten into his Tesla car.
"The new Chairman is out! " a voice shouted in the mist of the reporters, alerting the ones who were chasing after the former chairman.
Xander flinched at the sight of people coming towards him with mircophones, recorder and even cameras. Max and the security details guided him to their car.
That didn't stop the reporters as they kept on shouting their questions as they tried to catch up with the car.
"Are you really the son of Cameron Cage" one of the reporters asked running after the car even though they couldn't see them through the tinted windows.
"Am I the what? They still needed to ask that? Don't they have eyes to see the resemblance " Xander huffed annoyed by how strangers get so interested in people life just because they are rich. He still didn't understand why people watch The Kardashians because now he felt like was one of the Kardashians, in his case, a Cage.
In Singapore, Cage holds a huge meaning to it. Their family history states that their ancestor was a princess that married a foreigner that came to start a business in Singapore. His business grew with the help of his wife and for generations they have been recognized as the richest family in the country and are even nearing the richest in the continent.
"They haven't seen your face clearly to know if it's true, do want to hold a press conference to confirm your identity? " Max suggested, he turned to Xander who was staring at Rolex watch on his wrist. He couldn't blame him he grew in a life where this were unattainable to him.
"That's hectic, they can believe whatever they want, I only agreed to take over the company to get my daughter back and when are we going to start with that? " he turned his attention to Max who chuckled at his sudden seriousness.
"You start whenever you are ready? "
"I'm ready! What do we do first? " Xander voiced out with lights in his eyes.
"What to do first is your choice, you got the money and power to do anything now so how you get your little girl is your choice" Max said to him and he scoff and sank into the seat as he wandered away into his thoughts.
He didn't notice the car had stopped until Max tapped him. He flinched and turned to Max before looking out the tinted windows.
"Where are we?" Xander asked, hoping Max wouldn't question why he flinched.
"Your new home" Max announced
"Another new home" Xander was really spiraled by how being rich worked. Does it mean he has multiple houses.
"Your father thought you would be comfortable in your own home" Max explained and Xander stared at the building not sure how to feel.
There was no reporter close by so it was safe.
"He got you an apartment, you might like it" Max added
"More like a suite" Xander muttered
"You don't have to worry about neighbors, you are the only one living here, pick a suite and your things would be brought to you or you could buy new ones" Max said as the new chairman got out of the car and stared at the luxurious building that he owned and live in by himself. He wouldn't be surprised if he owned the estate too.
"The estate is also yours" Max said as the car drove away.
"Not a surprise, not a surprise" he said to himself.
He passed the garage and could count up to five cars parked in it. His father really overdid himself as he doubt he would be able to use everything.
He used the entrance card that Max asked swiped into his pocket when he was staring at the house.
He entered the cool conditioned room and the discomfort from the hot weather was long forgotten.
There was a reception counter at the corner but it was absent of any receptionist. He really live alone.
He got to the into the elevator where he got to know that that the building only had two floors and a ground floor and rooftop , meaning that there was two suite in the building. He decided to take the second floor, he inspect the elevator while he waited. He noticed a cctv camera, meaning that there was a control room that he is yet to find out.
He stepped out of the elevator when it reached the second floor and walked through the large hallway that had a chandelier in the middle.
He got to the door and saw that he needed a password to enter. He went through his pockets, sure that Max would have left something there. He notice Max tend to do that alot when he knew he would have to explain himself or talk for long.
"Hah-ha" he smiled victoriously when he brought out a piece of paper from his suit pocket, he definitely put the paper before he wore it.
He typed the password and entered the apartment or rather suite, he was never going to get used to that.
The light at the door turned on as if it has sensor to know that someone had enteres the building. He noticed that there was camera at the entrance. There was nobody here but the security was tight.
He walked into the sitting room and the entrance light turned off.
"Cool" he breathed.
He pulled out from his suit, freeing himself from the devil. He looked around the sitting room, there was was a big TV screen connected to the wall that faced the couch. The rest of the wall were covered with curtains but he was sure that a celling to floor windows hid behind them.
The sofa and couch were covered in white leather. The house looked prepared and the only thing that was missing was his clothes and he was sure all appliances need are available and truly hoped that there was something to eat.
He turned a corner and got into the kitchen, it was white and clean and-
He heard some rumbling and pick up the nearest weapon to him, which was a frying pan. He took quiet steps as he searched for where the noise came from.
Just the he saw someone crunched over, searching for something in his fridge. Chill ran through his body, he thought the security was tight but how did someone get into his apartment?
He raised up the pan to strike their but the person turned and he strikes his head.
