Yeah, I am, get Randy on the line" Hunter quickly called Randy who answered after two rings.
"Hello, baby" Randy said in flirtatious tone
"You don't need to act like my girlfriend now, I need you to something important for me" Xander said in a dead tone
"What is it?" Randy asked all serious.
"Remember the necklace I bought the first day we met" He started
"Yes, I remember. I can't forget the weird looking man that paid for an expensive necklace with cash" she answered and giggled
"Not the time, Randy" he said and rolled his eyes.
"Okay, sorry, I would be serious, what about the necklace?" she said in a serious tone. He heard some movements in the background, since she lost her job she would probably be at home like every other jobless person.
"I want to you to use the card Hunter gave to you to along with the contract, to buy that exact necklace. I would send Hunter to pick it up" Xander instructed.
"Okay, but why do you need it?" Randy asked
"Not for you to know" Xander said flatly
"That's the thing I need to change in this contract before I sign it but I would do as you ask" she said and sighs. He heard someone shouting in the background "Shit, When do we meet again?" she asked
"When I say we do?" he said coldly. It was an understatement for her to say that he had changed drastically since they met. He used to be someone who radiate happiness but now he was either cold or blank of every emotion.
"Don't be grumpy, you... " He hung up on her not in the for the small talk. It wasn't like they friends or something close. Even if they were friends, it has been a long time he had on so he is clueless on how to treat them.
After the phone call with Randy, Xander walked over to Mike and Trente.
"Hello, You must be Mike, let's have a race, just me and you" Xander announced. His anger and irritation had been masked my his professional smile. No one could suspect anything as all their attentions was on this two.
Cameron raised an eyebrow at what was happening. Max, in a low voice fill him about on Mike identity and his eyes widened. Max was pulling on his hair silently in worry. He thought he would worry less on Xander arrival to the family but it seemed his worries were double.
Why are the Cage Family so impulsive?. He thought bitterly. At least they were the only ones on close by.
"You are... Wait, don't tell me... Alexander Cage" Mike said. His tone was a direct opposite of Xander approach. Xander raised a brow for the first time since he decided to have the race, if he made made the right desicion.
He thought Trente would have introduced him their discussion but now he knew they were talking about something entirely different.
"Yes, That's me" Xander said not sure what to say. He felt bad for been angry at him when he saw that he was a nice guy. The nice guy that his wife he loved would replace him with. With that he remember his purpose of approaching him.
"I have been wanting to meet you but you are a rare man to find so I had to catch up with you here" Mike said with a smile that Xander wasn't sure it fake or geniue.
"I'm amazed, you could have gotten an appointment instead of going through all the stress of showing up here" Xander said politely as he could at that moment. He just wanted to beat the other man in a race, why did he have to go through all this small talk.
"Was Hermia type a talkative? Maybe that why she never liked him" He thought but quickly pushed the thought away.
"I actually sent my fiance to you the other day but you were busy" Mike explained
"Oh, I had to meet someone important" Xander said nonchalantly. Hunter wondered if she was truly important or it was just another tool for his revenge.
"Oh, Are you free now so we can talk?" Mike asked in a business tone.
"I would consider talking after the race" Xander said and signal Hunter to leave to get the package from Randy.
He sized up Mike and took impression of the man taste in fashion. Surprisingly how they were both wearing the same brand of leather jacket but different colors. He wore the black while the other man wore the white.
"The car is ready" one of the engineers announced and they both went to their respective race cars.
This time Max swears under his breath and Cameron couldn't help looking worried. He had just found his heir he wasn't ready to lose him all over again and pass down his company to his basket brain of a son.
What they don't know that Xander was familiar with cars, maybe not race cars but he was good at breaking into cars since he was a teenager and had have run in with different gangs.
He examined the car one last time before he started it. A sexy lady dressed in track suit stood between the two cars and shot the gun to begin the race.
The race was competive as they kept trying to over take each other. It seemed that Mike knew this game well and it ended as a draw.
"Nice game" Mike complemented
"I guess so" Xander said and smiled when he saw Hunter approaching holding a shopping bag.
"This is what you ask for" Hunter said formally
"Okay" Xander said to Hunter and turn to Mike. "Give this to your fiancé as an apology for missing her appointment" Xander said smiling widely, the most difficult smile he had to force. He hated calling the woman he waited patiently for three years to return his affections, someone else fiancé. He blink profusely to keep away his tears.
"Did something get into your eyes" Mike asked concerned as he took the bag out of his hand.
"I think so" he said and Hunter quickly gave him an handkerchief that he used subtly to stop the tears "I'm okay now" he said after with a perfect fake smile.
"Thank goodness" Mike sighed, oblivious of what was actually in Xander eyes was tears. "Also thanks for this, you are very generous" Mike said, signaling to the shopping bag.
"No problem"
"Now that you mentioned her, I want to invite you to our wedding next month"
