"Do you know her? " Randy asked in irritation
"Oh, new girl, that fast. I didn't think you get over my sister so quick" Helena chuckled, she was a bit high but that doesn't stop her from her intentions. She had two friends 9n her side who were looking at them in disgust.
"Ex girlfriend? " Randy asked looking the girls from head to toe, probably ranging their capabilities.
"No, long story but let's go" Xander replied and took Randy by wrist to walk away.
"Are you going run, I thought you grew some wings to stand your ground" Helena taunted and her friends laughed.
"Is he the one you told us about " one of Helena friends asked
"The one that begged and cried " the other joined in and they laughed. Xander squeezed his hand into a fist in anger and kept walking but he heard Randy hiss and stopped.
"You enjoy taunting someone about their worst moment, right? What about yours, I think it was being held in police custody because you were high on the highway " Randy taunted and gave a force laugh.
"You bitch! " Helena screamed causing attention on them.
"Randy, let's go, they are causing a scene " Xander pleaded, pulling on her wrist but she was flared up by the high doll and her friends.
"Do you know who he is? " one of friends asked
"We know your type of girls, golddiggers, you think he is rich, I can tell you he is not, it is not too late to leave him" the other said and other customers who were in this section of the mall started whispering.
Xander felt humiliated and he closed his eyes not prepared for his new friend to turn against him.
"Gather all your information before you start spreading rumors" Randy said and was about to turn to leave. She send Xander a smile and he returned it. A part of his heart delight as someone stood up for him for the first time in a long time.
"I know everything about him! " Helena said before they got far. "He is married to my family and cried when my sister divorced him or have you forgotten your daughter? She still cries for her daddy everyday" Helena said and smirked as Xander halted, she had hit a nerve.
Xander left Randy and walked towards her she was a bit scared that he would do something to her but since they were people around he wouldn't dare do something dangerous.
He stopped directly in her view and wrapped his hand around her neck lightly and said, "I and your sister could have never worked out because of her attitude I hope you are different" Xander said and smiled sweetly.
"Young Master, it's time to leave" Max called as he returned from paying for everything they bought. He was surprised to see crowd gathering and went to check it out. Surprisingly, his boss's son was the center of the drama.
Xander leaned close to Helena's ear and whispered something to her before he gentlely brushed her cheek and walked to Max. Helena gulped as she was him and Randy leave with the older man.
Xander exhaled as soon as they left the shopping mall.
"You should have let me pulled her hair intl she is bald, I hate those kind of girls" Randy said angrily
"There was no need" Xander said with a hint of smile in his words "Thanks for today, Randy"
"No need that's what friends do, you are too innocent for this world" Randy said and Max cleared his throat.
"I need to leave bye for now" Xander said and entered their car back seat and Max followed after him, entering from the other side. Max noticed that Randy was about to exchange numbers before Xander entered the car, he shook his head at his boss's son obliviousness.
"Don't tell my dad what happened at the mall" Xander said when the car stopped in front of the mansion.
"I won't, if I did she wouldn't leave another day but what would you do about that family?" Max said, typing something into his phone before he looked at Xander who was in deep thoughts
"I would think of something " Xander said and got out the car. The older man smirked at the answer, eager to see how things would turn out in the end. He also got out of the car.
"Rest up, the clothes would be brought into your room, don't forget family dinner after your big your big day " Max said and Xander waved and entered the house.
The weekend passed quickly, and the big day was here. XL Headquarters was surrounded by reporters who tried to get pictures of the rumored successor of XL Industries. A black car passed in front of the reporters who didn't mind it.
In the black car sat Alexander in the back seat. He had to take his father's last name, which was "Cage" as he was taking after the company. He was amazed by the amount of people that were waiting to see him.
Max led him through the back entrance at the same time his father arrived and got the attention of the reporters. They asked questions about his long lost son and why he was showing up now. All questions were left unanswered as he nonchalantly wave them off and entered the hall.
Xander and his father meet up in front of the meeting room. His father nodded to him signaling if he was ready, he nodded nervously. Cameron smiled and entered the room first as it planned. They planned that Xander comes some minutes after Cameron goes in.
"It's time" Max said to him and he he took a nervous breath and rubbed his hands together before he deep them into his pocket.
"I'm ready" he said and Max pushed the door open and walked in first and was followed by Xander.
As Xander walked in, the board of directors that consist of men and women of his father age and even older. The stood up and bowed in respect. His father stood up from where he sat at the head of the table for Xander to seat. Xander walked boldly with a strong aura that took time to perfect and sat at the head of the table.
"My time is over, it your turn son" his father said, resting supporting hand on his shoulder.
At that moment he felt what it was to be at the top.
